REVIEW - East of Ecstasy (Hearts of the Anemoi #4) by Laura Kaye

The Book
Release Date: 22 April 2014
Goodreads Link

Annalise Fallston made peace with postponing her big-city dreams to care for her ill father, but lately she’s been filled with a restlessness not even her beloved painting dispels. Worse, the colors don’t speak to her as they always have, and all her efforts produce dark, foreboding images of a dangerous man and a terrifying future.

Devlin Eston, black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus, is the only one who can thwart his father’s plan to overthrow the Supreme God of Wind and Storms. But first, Dev must master the unstable powers he’s been given. Distrusted and shunned by his own divine family, he never expected to find kindness and passion in the arms of a mortal.

But Devlin’s love puts Annalise in the path of a catastrophic storm, and in the final Armageddon showdown between the Anemoi and Eurus, sacrifices will be made, hearts broken, and lives changed forever…or lost.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Boy am i sad that this is the very last book in the series.  This series has been epic and we have had some tortured souls with these wind Gods.

Devlin is one of the remaining sons of Eurus and the other wind gods do not trust him, but Aeolus believes in him and is training him.  Devlin believes that he must atone for is sins, such as his brothers death, however when he finds Annalise, she turns his whole world upside down and gives him love and understanding and a tenderness that he has never experienced before.

Annalise is suffering from a chronic tiredness illness and suddenly has a compulsion to paint scenes that pop into her head.  She is also the main carer for her father who suffers from dementia.

It is Devlin who finds out that she is not exactly human and he eventually takes her to the Realm of the Gods where her true past comes to light.

We also get to the crux of the story as the four winds with helpers finally manage to confront Eurus and come the victors, however there are some sad parts that had me with tears.

I really enjoyed this series and am just sorry that this has been waiting for so long to be read on my kindle.

REVIEW - South of Surrender (Hearts of the Anemoi #3) by Laura Kaye

The Book
Release Date: 28 May 2013
Goodreads Link

She’s the only one who can see through his golden boy façade to the broken god within…

Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, is on a mission: save Eurus from his death sentence and prove his troubled brother can be redeemed. But Eurus fights back, triggering vicious summer storms that threaten the mortal realm, dangerously drain Chrys, and earn the ire of the Olympic gods who ordered Eurus dead.

Laney Summerlyn refuses to give up her grandfather’s horse farm, despite her deteriorating vision. More than ever, she needs the organized routine of her life at Summerlyn Stables, until a ferocious storm brings an impossible—and beautiful—creature crashing down from the heavens.

Injured while fighting Eurus, Chrys finds himself at the mercy of a mortal woman whose compassion and acceptance he can’t resist. As they surrender to the passion flaring between them, immortal enemies close in, forcing Chrys to choose between his brother and the only woman who’s ever loved the real him.

My Review  5 STARS
Oooooh, i really enjoyed this book.  It takes place a few months after the last book and Chrys is in the summer months, his months and has been battling Eurus without much luck.  In fact considering that Chrys should be the strongest one at the moment, that is not what is happening, Eurus somehow has the upper hand.

Chris crash lands unconscious in Laney's horse barn on her ranch, practically blind, she braves the storm around her to check on the horses only to find a wounded pegasus which she bravely helps.

Chris comes to feel something for the brave woman who just wants to help him and is not afraid to save him and touch him, something he does not normally like.

We see more characters from the previous books and the story from book one continues, we also see some very sad times, some happy times, some war action and a happy ending with our characters.

I really cannot wait for the 4th book and the conclusion to the series.

REVIEW - Never Leave a Rockstar by Sarah Darlington

The Book
Release Date: 4 March 2020

STRANDED ON AN ISLAND WITH A HOT ROCKSTAR?
Fine, I’ll volunteer.

Luce thinks Ollie Mills is obnoxious, frustrating, and full of himself. The only thing the bassist of the world famous rock band, Sunset Revival, cares about is a good time and the next woman in his bed. So of all people to be stranded on a deserted island with, Luce can’t believe it has to be him.

Ollie has been crushing on Luce Winchester for months. Finally, finally, she agrees to come stay with him. Well, it’s a visit out of desperation, but he’ll take whatever he can get from this woman. When they get kidnapped and stranded on a random island thanks to a psychotic fan, it’s hardly the first date Ollie had in mind. But there’s more to this devilishly handsome rocker than meets the eye. He’s resourceful, protective, and maybe, just maybe, he can prove to Luce he’s a bet she should take.

In the end will Luce choose to stay with Ollie or leave her love-struck rockstar behind?

*NEVER LEAVE A ROCKSTAR can be read as a standalone, or it can be read as the fourth and final book in Sarah Darlington's NEVER TRUST Series.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Finally we have Ollies story and since book one in the series we have known that once he first saw Luce Winchester he wanted her.

Ollie has been calling Luce for months, just telling her random stuff, however when she has told people a little white lie about going to Barbados for a holiday in order to get out of going to a wedding, Ollie decides to take her on a trip.  However things do not go easy as they are kidnapped and deserted on a desert island together.

Luce is eight years older than Ollie and does try to battle her attraction to the man, however Ollie does not make it easy for her and does look after her and act the perfect gentleman, never pushing for more.

Its a sweet story and they make a great pair together.  We do not see too much from other band members or family members but they are their in the background.

Really enjoyed the ending to this series.

REVIEW - Enemies with Bang-ifits by Lili Valente

The Book
Release Date: 17 December 2019
Goodreads Link

I pull in a breath, about to launch into a verbal lashing the likes of which this ridiculous rock god has never seen, but I stop myself at the last second.

Because Cutter is still staring at my chest like it's the most beautiful chest ever plunked down on God’s green Earth.

And Cutter clearly has no idea I’m the little girl he called a B-word all grown up.

The opportunity to mess with my teenage nemesis is just too delicious to resist...

Meet Theodora and Cutter in this enemies-to-lovers prequel to Bang On Loosely.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a cute little prequel into the past on how Cutter and Theodora interacted before we get their full length novel with Bang on Loosely.

The novel covers the period from when Theo was 154 yrs old until the BBQ when Cutter finally revealed that he was just lashing out because he had been having a hard time back on with his father in his teenage years.

Worth the read before the full length book so you can see the dynamics between the pair.

She thought they were safe. She thought wrong.

Hannah Linfield didn’t know who she was. Not really. But over the past nine months some of her memories had begun to return. Only… along with them, came more questions.

Questions about her brother. Questions about her past.

And it looked like both of those things were catching up to her. Which left Hannah torn.

Between Cole and Liam, she already had her hands plenty full. Not to mention her own nagging conscience, the one that kept reminding her that what she was feeling was wrong. So… the most pressing questions still remained unanswered.

How far would a girl be willing to go to get answers? And for that matter, how far would the men in her life let her?

My Review  5 STARS
This is the last book in this trilogy, however there will be one more staring some characters from this book.

After having found that his compound friends and brothers are dead and the girls are missing Cole unravels.  Liam has left him and without his support, Cookie has to step up and try and reason with him.  He is ready to go alone on a suicide quest to get her back immediately.

A brilliant ending wrapping up all of the loose ends and leaving us with a happy ever after.

REVIEW - Chasing Truth (Outlasting #2) by L.K. Magill

The Book
Release Date: December 2019

Answers. All Liam Byrne wanted now, was answers. Maybe it was the interrogator in him, or maybe it was his past.

But the more questions he asked, the more complicated his once simple world became.

And then there was Hannah. And now the others.

He didn’t know what he’d gotten himself into. He hadn’t felt like this… maybe ever. But here he was, for once in his screwed up life, wanting to make things right. Wanting to know the truth. Chasing it, in fact.

Along with her. Yeah, he was chasing that, too.

My Review  5 STARS
This is the second part of a series and cannot be read as a stand alone, this book like the first also ends in a cliff hanger.

This is another actions packed adventure as we follow Liam, Cole and Hannah and the dynamics of new relationships, remembered pasts and devastation.

With Hannah remembering parts of her past, she remembers that there were other women caged up and the men lead a rescue mission.  With their success comes the retrieval of two women Lena and Flynn who remember Hannah, but she does not remember them.

All three of them struggle and eventually one of them leaves, however it leaves the compound vulnerable and after a supply run, heartache ensues.

The cliff hanger is good and i was so glad to have book three at the ready so i can read on...

REVIEW - Temp (Milford College #5) by Noelle Adams

The Book
Release Date: 11 March 2020
Goodreads Link

The last thing Polly wants is to take on a temp job as assistant to the grumpiest VP at Milford College, but she needs to make some extra money for graduate school, and it's the only job available. She'll just have to put up with him for the summer, even after she starts to want him as a lot more than her boss.

Temp is the fifth book in the Milford College series, novellas about the faculty and staff of a small liberal arts college.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I have been looking forward to this book since Liam was first brought up in the last book, i was not disappointed.

Polly needs this temp job as she has moved home temporarily in order to help her mother who has broken her leg.  The temp job is as Liam's PA and she is immediately warned that he has a gruff exterior, but is a really good guy.

Shy Polly managed to stand up for herself and almost come out of her shell with Liam.  Both fight the attraction for each other and Polly starts bringing the best out of Liam, a man who lost his wife 4yrs ago.

The story moves along quite quickly and a couple of previous characters make cameo appearances.

I really enjoyed my return to Milford College and was sad the visit was over so quickly.

REVIEW - Outlasting After (Outlasting #1) by L.K. Magill

The Book
Release Date: November 2019
Goodreads Link

There were no women left. He was sure of it. After the war, Cole Tanner was pretty damn certain they were all dead.

Hell, he and his unit hadn’t seen one in years.

But then there she was. A woman. All alone, standing in the middle of the road.

His road.

She looked so haunting. So hungry and dirty, and well… vulnerable. He was going to help her, really he was. And for a split second, he wondered just how she’d survived.

Then she leveled the gun at him… and he had his answer. Damsel in distress? Apparently not.

But that didn’t change things, not how Cole saw it. No, she still needed him and his team… same as they needed her. And Cole was nothing if not good at convincing people to follow him. Or at least, he used to be.

So he’d try his hand one more time, and hope like hell she didn’t pull that trigger.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

If you do not like cliff-hangers then this book is not for you. However i can certainly say that this new to me author really swept me away with her writing and world building after a war has decimated the human population and there are virtually no females left in the world.

Hannah has been on the run hiding and scrounging food where she can, especially after Andy her husband died.  It is in following some men carefully and getting their scraps that she finds herself caught. Without a memory past the last year, things are hard for Hannah

The men however are kinder than she thought they would be, Cole gains her trust and her heart, however Liam enters the picture when she suddenly remembers that she has seen one other woman.

The book reads fairly quickly and the scene is set very well with good description along with good world building.

I am really looking forward to reading the next book, especially after the cliff hanger!

REVIEW - Never Love a Rockstar (Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills #3) by Sarah Darlington

The Book
Release Date:5 February 2020
Goodreads Link

IN LOVE WITH A ROCKSTAR?
No, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Rebecca Cooper knows what dating a rockstar is like. It’s late nights, months on the road, and constantly sharing your man with everyone else. It’s coming second. She’s been there, done that, and walked away with a broken heart. So how it is possible she’s put herself in this position again? In love with yet another rockstar. This time, his brother.

Luke Mills is bitter. He’s bogged down by years of guilt and heartache. He goes through the motions. He’s rough with everyone around him. And then Rebecca walks back into his life. Sweet Rebecca. She shouldn’t be here. She shouldn’t have come back. But Luke sees her and can’t help the way his heart wants to respond. But, no, not in a million years—he’d never let her have a spot in his frozen heart again. Not when she was always his brother’s girl.

**NEVER LOVE A ROCKSTAR can be read as a standalone, or as the third book in Sarah Darlington's NEVER TRUST Series.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

In this book we have band member Luke Mills from the time that he turns up to Calebs house to tell him that he thinks that Rebecca's child is his son.

Luke has seemed almost moody in the previous books, but in this book we see the really soft side of Luke and that he can't help but love his new family and is as much there for Rebecca and little Caleb as much as he can and is very thoughtful.  Luke's moodiness shows itself as he either closes off or is thinking about how he can change his situation for the better.  He has also been in love with \rebecca from the first moment that he saw her and struggled to keep his emotions to himself.

In this book Caleb comes across badly and Ollie like a petulant little boy.  At the end of the book we get a glimpse of Ollie for his book, and i does look like Ollie's book will be good.
