REVIEW - Loved None But You (Pemberley House #3) by Noelle Adams

The Book
Release Date: 12 June 2019
Goodreads Link

She has no second chance with him.

Anne lost Robert five years ago when she said no to his proposal, and there's no going back now. Even though rejecting him was the hardest thing she's ever done. Even though she's never gotten over him. Even though he's moving right upstairs.

He's back for at least a month, recovering from an injury before he returns to the Navy. And he hasn't forgotten or forgiven the way she chose her career over him. But there's no sense in trying to work through their raw feelings--in or out of the bedroom--because if they get close to each other again, the same painful parting might happen a second time.

But getting close to Robert is exactly what Anne can't stop doing.

Pemberley House is a series of modern reimaginings of Jane Austen novels, and the books are set in a historic mansion in Virginia that has been converted into condos. Loved None But You is loosely inspired by Persuasion.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I have been waiting for this book and i really think that this is the best of the series by far.

Anne split up with Robert six years ago at the end of college when Robert asked her to marry him, he family did not approve and she was just starting out at a good job that did not work with Robert joining the Navy.  It is something that she has never gotten over.

This book is told from dual point of view again and we see the tug of war between both characters, still in love with each other, but neither want to go first and say their feelings or what they really want in case their hearts get broken again.

Both characters get help from their friends and eventually one of them steps up to the plate and the constant angst is broken up when they realise that they are both on the same page.

I loved seeing the other characters from the previous books in this one and hope that Riot can have a happy ending as even slightly immature  people grow up too.

I really enjoyed this loose retelling of Persuasion and look forward to the authors next work.

REVIEW - Yield to Me (Dreams of Glass Book 1) by Audrey Rush

The Book
Release Date: 6 March 2019
Goodreads Link

The only thing I ever wanted was to prove my father wrong by achieving my dreams—not by becoming a doctor like he was, but by becoming a successful artist, like my mother wanted to be. Even if I have to take care of my wine drenched mother, ace classes at the Foundation, mingle at gallery openings, and serve late night lattes on the Broadway Strip, all while working on my art—one way or another, I will be a successful sculptor. And I’ll do it by myself.
But then I met Owen Lowell, the irritatingly smart, charismatic, most wanted bachelor in San Francisco with a shady past. Not only is he a millionaire businessman—not my type—but he insists on helping me, as if I need his help. I kept declining his assistance and erotic invitations until he showed me a side of the city I had never seen before, deeply violent and sadistic facets that sparked my muse. His desire to manipulate me, to use my deepest fears against me, to find things I didn’t know about myself, became hard to resist. And then I looked into his dark green eyes and knew he saw everything inside of me.
I told myself that as long as we were never romantic, he would never hurt me.
As long as we kept to the rules.
As long as he didn’t get in the way of my dreams.

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the beginning of a series and ends on a kinda cliff hanger with a lot of unanswered questions left hanging around.

Although i liked the premise of this book, there were times that i did not connect with either character.

His warm hands entered my underwear, cured my bare ass, then pulled down my bottoms until they were on the ground.  I lifted each foot and he removed the underwear.  He stuffed my panties in my mouth, and i felt a pleasurable burning inside me.
"This will help you okay me," he said.  I wanted to glare at him, but couldn't under the blindfold.

Owen and Riley are in their first sexual scene together, with her only having had a walk through Owens Dungeon and to be honest at time i really wondered why Riley let him do what he did.

"We can go back to my hand, but i will hurt you as much as i want.  I won't limit myself to one more strike," he said slowly.

Can i just say, this is still Riley's first scene with Owen and it made me feel that Owen was not right in the head.  He almost seemed to get off in causing pain, its perhaps a harder read than i am used too and i have read a fair amount of this kind of thing.

He pulled my hair and raked my head back so quickly and violently that it hurt, straining my neck.  "You should be," he said.  He bit down on my skin until i cried out.  He had bitten me before, but this time it felt like he was chewing the tendons, trying to break the flesh.  Then he flung my body on the bed.  I felt my neck, expecting to find broken skin, but i didn't find anything.

This especially i found a little disturbing.  I felt like this book should come with more of a warning, i am not of the sensitive type, but this had me squirming that this was not right and i did not like it.

Riley is supposed to be a strong woman yet i feel like she lets Owen get away with a little too much and her treatment of others like clay and Michael could be a little insensitive at times.

I liked the way that this story was put together and it was written well, however i know that i will not be finishing this series.

REVIEW - Hammered (Happy Cat #2) by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente

The Book
Release Date: 28 May 2019
Goodreads Link

I didn’t mean to kidnap the groom.

It was an accident.

Mostly...

At least I didn't take much time to plan it. It was more of a spur of the moment kidnapping. Does that count?

One minute, the town’s bad boy is standing at the altar about to marry the world’s most evil kindergarten teacher. The next, he’s passed out in my Vespa sidecar with his bride hot on our tail.

But I didn't have a choice! I couldn't stand by and watch Jace O’Dell be blackmailed into a loveless marriage. And besides, what’s a little kidnapping between friends?

Okay, so maybe we’re not just friends...

And maybe I can’t quit thinking about that night at his bar when he closed up early and had me on the rocks.

And maybe this crazy stunt is going to blow up in both of our faces.

If it does, I’m blaming the moonshine.

Even though the only thing I’m hammered on when it comes to Jace is love—straight up, no chaser.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

With this book we get our second foray into Happy Cat and the many wonderfully qwerty inhabitants that live there.

This book focuses on Ryans brother Jace, who is the Wild Hogs owner and bar keeper.  Here we find out more of his dysfunctional relationship with Ginger and the attraction that he has always had with Olivia.  He thinks that she is out of his league, but the truth id far from it.

Olivia was brought to town originally by Savannah the former owner of the Adult toy shop and Olivia has her own unique way of living compared to the residents of Happy Cat.  For example she likes to bathe in the light of the moon all but in her birthday suit.

I loved the chemistry between the pair and that although Olivia can seem scattered she is actually very smart and has one of the biggest hearts of gold.  She also helps show that Ginger is a more of a problem than first thought.

I loved seeing previous characters and i really loved that more wacky animal antics have been written into this book, and long may it continue with this series.  I really enjoyed the hedgehog and the alpaca.

I greatly anticipate the next book in the series.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author and Hidden Gems for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a new to me author and i liked this story very much, however there are a couple of the characters that were not well rounded and things happen between our main lady Sammara and a couple of the men far too quickly, but with this type of romance you have to take everything with a pinch of salt.

Sammara is a strong character, but there are times where she lets others take over too much like her business partner Dawn.  Briggs is another character we do not get enough info on especially as he and Samarra are at it very quickly together in a shower and Dakota does not have much of a background.

I did however like the story line with this book and how it was all brought together, it certainly had me reading page after page to see what was going to happen next and i liked the suspense that was brought to it

I will be interested to see what happens in the next book as although this book finishes with a happy ending, there is certainly more that needs to be explored and explained.

REVIEW - Enlightened Hearts (Mastered Hearts #2) by Angela Nicole

The Book

Daniel
Patience is a virtue right? Well, I’ve never claimed to be virtuous. My daughter’s kindergarten teacher has gotten under my skin. She’s smart, sexy and a little prone to seasickness.
My daughter Lucy loves her and I’m not far behind. We’ve promised each other we’d wait until the school year is over. So why can’t I keep my hands off her?

Nicole
Daniel Cooper. The forbidden fruit. A student’s father should be off limits right? Well easier said than done.
The man is the epitome of sweet and sexy. One look at him and all bets are off…and so are my clothes. I just hope I can keep both Daniel and my job.

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author and Hidden Gems for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book takes place over the course of a school year as Daniel and Nicole push and pull and then slow down with a relationship until after Daniels daughter Lucy has finished the school year.

Its a sweet book, full of angst and a will they won't they get together and time flow from a day apart to a week or a month or a few months.

Daniel certainly stays as the caring man and looks after Nicole when she needs it and shows countless times his patience, whilst Nicole goes for it more and takes a more aggressive role before pulling back a little.

Nicoles past is a bit of a hinderance for her especially when it comes to light in an embarrassing way for her, but Daniel shows the kind of man he is again.

Although the book was nice, it has not inspired me to read the rest of the series.

My Review  4 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Kensington Books for an honest review**

This is the only book in the series that i have read and i felt that it could be read as a stand alone book, however it might have been nice to get the previous information about Miles from the previous books on my side.

Miles has psi abilities that manifested after he was mind fucked in another battle to find Lara that was unsuccessful.  After time in a coma and time in the wilderness by himself he is still struggling with his new abilities, but now he is hearing a voice in his head that claims to be Lara.  His has also been having sex dreams with her most nights.

Lara has been kidnapped and imprisoned for months and it is only when she finds the citidel does she find some quiet time out when tripping, she does not know that she has entered Miles's mind.

After Miles completes an almost solo rescue of Lara things get more interesting and Lara and Miles fall further for each other, and learn new things about themselves along the way.

Both Lara and Mile are strong characters and both cope well with the changes in their lives and Lara shows great compassion for those around her.  Miles also shows that he will do anything required to save those that he loves.

I did enjoy this story but i did find that it was a long read and took me a while in order to get through it and it did not keep me as captivated as some other books.

A Romantica® sci-fi erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

My Review  5 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Ellora's Cave for an honest review**

This has been on my kindle for a while and i am finally starting to clear out some old ARC's to be read.  I can only imagine that this was left after i heard about the Ellora's Cave fiasco, but now i am kicking myself that i have not read this book earlier.

This book was amazingly put together and the story put together really well, it is a shame that the author has now gone dark and the series has been left at three books instead of completing the remaining series.  She really is a really good writer.

Menace is a warrior and has finally decided after his friend has found happiness with a Grab, that he would would like that kind of happiness too.  With enough points behind him he gets his chance and snaps up the fireball that is Naya.

Naya has a few secrets in her past, a past that like so many others on her planet was hard and left her alone to fend for herself, helping out a friend means she ends up grabbed, but what she first thinks is something awful, ends up being the best thing that has ever happened to her.

Naya soon realises that her conceptions of the Sky Warriors is wrong and she will do anything to save the people she loves when her dark past comes to light.

I really really enjoyed this book and will be looking to see if i can find any further books of hers to read.

My Review  4 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Gypsy Ink Books for an honest review**

I have read a book by this author before, and to be honest, i had forgotten who good her stories were and how drawn into the world she has created it drew me in.

I really enjoyed this book and will certainly be looking at reading the rest of the series in due time.

Kitty was a good character and i got the jist of what has happened in previous books, so this can be read as a stand alone.  Kitty is a survivor and with Rafe at her side, finally has someone who believes in her and is not turning her away even if he is not the same bread of shifter that she is.  Can a Cougar and a wolf come together?  They can here.

Rafe is a hot as hell Alpha male and he proves patience with Kitty and dominance with those around him when required.  I certainly would be behind a man like him.

Look forward to more from this author.

Sheikh Ashim Al Raquar, Crown Prince of Alzaquan, knows he must return to his country and leave his playboy reputation far behind him. It will be a wild journey home, though—he intends to party on his yacht right to the edge of the desert. And then he meets Emily, a corporate flight attendant who’s in the south of France hoping to find herself after years of taking care of her husband.

A sensual, charismatic lover with a reputed dark edge to his bedroom skills is the very last thing Emily needs.

Or is it the first?

My Review  3 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Tule Publishing for an honest review**

It has been a while since i have read a book like this and to be honest, I'm not quite sure it was my thing anymore.

We had a second chance at love with Emily as after a work trip to Cannes as a private air hostess, she has some downtime with a friend where she ends up meeting Crown Prince Ashim on a beach where there is a concert being played.

A split decision leads her to spending time with him where a misunderstanding that could have been avoided leads to Emily being hurt and Ashim being a bit of an ass, especially the way he goes about afterwards.

Emily is a strong character, but was not that good at standing up for herself in front of Ashim, the love within a day and a half also felt fake.

Not sure i will be reading anything by this author in the future.

REVIEW - Rebel's Desire (Iron Portal #4) by Laurie London

From the gritty streets of the city’s underbelly to a sexual-fantasy-themed island, passions ignite. But with evil surrounding them and time running out, Toryn must decide whether to sacrifice the woman he’s falling for or dare to trust his heart again.

My Review  2 STARS
This is by far the worst book of the series and the whole book just felt rushed and not completely put together properly.

The story in itself was quite good and i liked how much that Toryn and Keely have in common, but there was so much left un answered and when the book finished along with the series, it definitely left too many gaps in the story and the question of the bad guy in this book was not cleared up at all.

Totally felt duped with this book and wish that it had been put together better to give a better rounded story.  I have now been put off reading anything further by this author.

REVIEW - Warrior's Heart (Iron Portal #3) by Laurie London

From NY Times bestselling author Laurie London comes the third book in the Iron Portal series.

Imprisoned for years, he never forgot her.

Zara Kane is leading a double life. By day, she’s a respected antiquities expert, working at a library, but by night, she’s a thief, stealing back artifacts that belong to her homeland. Vince Crawford is damaged man. After years of torture and suffering, the beautiful boy with the sparkling brown eyes is gone, replaced by a jaded ex-con hellbent on revenge. He isn’t afraid of anything, but when the woman he’s never stopped loving and the son he never knew he had are threatened by a ruthless enemy who knows they’re his greatest weakness, Vince will stop at nothing to keep them safe…even if it costs him his life.

My Review  3 STARS
In this book the familial ties seems to wrap around our characters further as the connections deepen with brothers and sisters.

Vince Crawford is Olivia's brother and Zara is Asher sister, here we now find out the the brothers and sisters have been paired up with the fates.

We get to meet all the previous characters and we get more time in Cascade, we also get to meet the doctor who had Vince captured and see what lies behind the motivation as to why he hates those with talents.

Vince and Zara are both hot and cold towards each other until Zara finally confronts Vince and things change around a little.  It seems it is hard for Vince to get used to being free from captivity and adjusting is hard on his I'm so many ways.

Again the book feels a little rushed, but i look forward to seeing how the last novella in the series brings the series to a close.

Hidden within the rugged mountains of the Pacific Northwest, Iron Portals separate the modern and ancient worlds. Only a chosen few, Warriors of the Iron Guild, know their locations.

For years, Olivia Crawford has kept a low profile in order to keep her para-ability secret. If the army finds out she’s a Healer-Talent, they’ll force her to work for them—just like her brother who was taken as a boy and never seen again.

But when a terrible explosion rocks New Seattle, she risks everything to save the injured, including a handsome stranger with secrets of his own.

Blaming himself for the death of a friend, Iron Guild warrior Asher Kane vows to bring those responsible to justice. After he’s hurt on a mission and nursed back to health by a beautiful yet mysterious woman, this dangerously sexy bad-boy finds himself falling for her…even as he struggles to stay away.

But stalking them on the streets of New Seattle is a cruel and vengeful evil—one that threatens to destroy them both…

My Review  3 STARS
In this novella which can be read as a stand alone we meet Olivia and we get to see more of Asher, who was in book one.

Olivia has a healing talent which she is trying to hide from the military, however she cannot help herself from healing those who need it.

Asher sees her healing when on a mission and they both end up helping each other very quickly.

The pair have instant chemistry and Olivia teams up with Asher as soon as a situation arrises meaning that they both cover for the other.

We do get to see a tiny bit of Neyla and Rickert from book one and the ending happens all too fast with out i feel the drama leading up to it.  It just seems to happen and finish at the same time.

I look forward to the next novella, but hope it does not feel as rushed at the end.

REVIEW - Assassin's Touch (Iron Portal #1) by Laurie London

The Book
Release Date: 1 November 2012

Two worlds. Two enemies.

One fated touch...

But when he pulls her into his arms, a sexy and compelling vision appears, awakening something inside him. Something he can't ignore.

Torn between duty and passion, Rickert must decide if the vision is a Talent trick designed to foil the enemy or the answer to his deepest desires...

My Review  3 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Aspendawn Books, for an honest review**

It has taken me a while to get back to this forgotten book and i give the author credit for creating a new world and way of life within the novella she has brought to life.

Rickert and Neyla are brought together when Neyla's job as a protection talent leads her to where Rickert is hiding and protecting a portal into his world.  A portal that the army uses to kill the adults and abduct the children to get other talented children they can force into creating a more powerful world.

It seems the fates however have another thing on their mind as they show the pair that they were meant to be and the army are thwarted for the time being from stealing children.

The pair tear up the pages and the pages need fanning at times as the heat leaps from the pages with their chemistry.

A decent read and i look forward to reading the rest of the series.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is yet another brilliantly put together novel in the Magnolia Valley series, not that the books cannot be read as a stand alone read.

We have previously met Penny and Wyatt in previous books, however now we get to see their full character and what has made them the way that they are now.

Wyatt and Penny were best friends as children and got up to lots of mischief, however that all changes when Wyatt joined the military and Penny went out to focus on her music, they both stayed in touch and Wyatt visited when he could.

After coming out of the military this time though Wyatt has changed and Penny takes it upon herself to help Wyatt find himself again along with her son Bass.

We get to lots of previous characters and we get to meet some new ones too in Wyatt military friends Parker and Barry, who i hope we also see more of.

I really got into the story and was really invested with Penny and Wyatt and after a rocky patch i was so glad that they managed to sort themselves out and find the happiness with each other that they deserved.

I also loved that i could download a bonus epilogue from the author for their fifth wedding anniversary too see how they celebrated and how their family was coming along.

I have been waiting a year for this book and i wasn't sure on this book until i got to the end, i mean i get that at 22 Sol is still a virgin, but not the way that she practically threw herself at Sawyer, let alone followed him to another part of America after only a few days.

Sawyer, a man who has a girl in every city and is forced to take Sol up in his plane after a stunt in the air gets him in trouble finds that he cannot get a girl out of his head for a change and does not sleep with her immediately like he would with other girls.

This book has a slow development and eventually Solana develops a backbone and stands up for herself when Sawyer is being nasty to her.

Eventually we get our HEA when something happens to Sawyer and her realises just how wrong her was and that he really does love Solana and wants her back.

It's a sweet read, but not something that i feel for me could be read over and over again.
