REVIEW - King of Storms and Feathers (Courts of the Star Fae Realms Book 1) by Juno Heart

The Book
Release Date: 5 July 2023

I wake in a cage at the gilt market with no memory of my name.
When the fae King of Storms and Feathers purchases me, I vow to escape his palace of dust and gold, reclaim my memories, and return to the home that haunts my visions—a city of ruins in the decaying forests of the human realm.

In the meantime, I’ll pretend to be what King Arrowyn wants—an obedient green-eyed bird, chained and powerless, his for the taunting and taking.
But when I escape and fall into viler clutches, Arrow hunts me down, determined to retrieve his disobedient, most valued possession.

The King of Storms and Feathers is the first book in the SPICY adult fantasy romance series, Courts of the Star Fae Realms. Readers who enjoy angsty enemies-to-lovers tension, a strong human heroine, and a TRULY morally gray fae king who yearns to control her but, instead, falls helplessly under her spell will love this book!

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

** This series contains dark elements and is suitable for mature readers.

A warning—he’s mean to her until he isn’t, and you're going to hate him until you don't. ;)

* spicy scenes, including mild dub-con (power imbalance)
* attempted (g)rape (not by MC)
* discussion of death of MC’s family
* slavery, addiction to gold serum, strong language, and violence
* amnesia trope
* and oh boy, Arrow! He’s a TRUE MORALLY GRAY HERO, and as I already said, please be WARNED - you’re gonna hate him till suddenly you don't! ;)
* although all plot elements are wrapped up nicely, there's a very juicy cliffhanger that’ll make you howl at your ereader and LONG for book 2!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am really glad that I was able to read this book.

The world building was really good, the writing was good and the story really pulled me along and I really cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Although there were elements of a darker type of story, they were not as dark as I thought they might be so it was an easy read for me, but it certainly showed the main characters growing as individuals and pulled them closer together even when there were both unsure of the reactions the other would get or for Arrow, confused when Leaf did not react as he thought she would.

Both complimented the other and helped them to see outside of their own heads and experiences and were there for each other when they needed it most.

We get villains, we get new friends, betrayal and a very spicy kind of love.

The book ends in a cliff hangar that certainly has you chomping at the bit to get the next book in the series.  I will certainly be reading more of this author in the future.

REVIEW - Reluctantly Married (Married #2) by Victorine E. Lieske

The Book
Release Date: 9 Jan 2015

A Clean Romantic Comedy

Megan Holloway can’t stand her local morning show co-host, Adam Warner, even though he’s a total hunk. He goads her on-air until she says things she regrets. But since ratings increase each time they have an on-air fight, the producer encourages his behavior.

When a relationship specialist comes onto the show purporting that Adam has hidden feelings for her, she reluctantly agrees to go out with him—on camera. What starts out as one date turns into a viral dating show with Megan and Adam alternating between locking lips and knocking heads.

As Megan fights her growing attraction to Adam, their popularity increases and ABC takes notice, offering them their own program. Not a morning show like Megan is hoping, but a dating show in which she and Adam must marry at the end. With the promise of a hundred thousand dollars and the possibility of scoring what she really wants, her own national program, she signs on.

What she doesn't know is that Adam has fallen in love with her, and his objective is to get her to do the same.

This is a sweet romance, appropriate for any age.

Megan and Adam host a morning TV program and ever since Megan joined the show the ratings have gone up as the pair swap insults with each other, but what Megan does not know is that her boss Leon has decided to capitalise on this and has hired a fake Dr to say that Adam has feelings for her live on TV.  This then leads them to having a few dates which are broadcast live on TV.

These recordings get massive ratings and as they get closer, they get a TV show wanting to have them date, but giving Megan the option to try out other men, but she has to get married in the end to Adam, not that the public know.

There is a good build up between the characters and only a little kissing and the pair certainly have a connection and can talk to each other off-air about the hard things.

I liked the ending and how Megan stepped up after hurting Adam and how she set things straight with everyone.

A nice read.

**My thanks to Netgalley and Indie Inked, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book has been stuck on my ARC shelf since 2013, since then no other book in this series has been published, so although I enjoyed this book, I cannot recommend this book as there are still lots of unanswered questions.

Noel has recently broken up with her boyfriend of 3 years and her friend Autumn is looking after her.  It is shortly after that though that she starts having lots of vivid dreams, especially about a man named Jared.  The dreams are Spicy and lots of kissing happens and any sex scenes are glossed over.

When Jared goes missing his friend Boone shows up and she is also taken by him and ends up in a Love Triangle.  Boone looks after her and helps her when she has her dreams even in the waking hours and helps her find out who she really is and looks after her.

Although lots of the questions brought up are answers we still have a lot that are not.  It could have been a very decent series, but the author seems to be focusing on other works instead.
