REVIEW - In the Friend Zone (Mile High Stallions, #2) by Christina Hovland

The Book
Release Date: 24 April 2026

Emily Sinclair lives by the Rule of Three: work hard, stay organized, and never, under any circumstances, look at Finn Taylor as anything other than her brother’s best friend.

Finn has always been her safe harbor. The late-night phone call. The permanent plus-one. The only person who knows she’d rather temper chocolate than draft a legal brief. He is also the pro football star whose career just slammed into a brick wall of a humiliating season-ending injury.

When Finn’s confidence hits rock bottom, Emily does what she does best. She makes a plan. She will help him through rehab, and in return, he will help her transform a dusty storefront into the chocolate shop of her dreams.

Simple.

Except somewhere between physical therapy sessions and renovation dust, the lines they spent a decade drawing start to blur. Finn is not just offering tool-belt advice anymore. He is looking at her with a hunger that has nothing to do with truffles.

Breaking her overprotective brother’s one rule was supposed to be the hard part.

But as the friend zone disappears in the rearview mirror, Emily realizes the real danger is not losing her heart.

It is risking the one relationship she has never been able to live without.

Because if this goes wrong, she does not just lose a boyfriend.

She loses Finn.

My Review    5 STARS

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the first book in the series that I have read and it can totally be read as a stand alone story.

Emily and Finn have been friends since they were little, although Finn is Emily's brothers best friend and has been for years. they have grown up around each other and act more like family, already knowing the good and bad about each other.

Emily is a corporate lawyer and after winning a big case, realises that the company that she works for, is not actually the type of company she wants to work for any more. She makes a speech and leaves to follow her dreams.

Meanwhile Finn is hurt on the field and needs looking after. Emily decides as a friend to move in and help him, but along the way the find that there is more behind their friendship after all, and that the person they want standing behind them, supporting them, is each other.

There are some great friendships, a good relationship where things are actually talked out rather than ignored and some yummy sounding chocolates.

We get a glimpse at the next couple and I cannot wait. I'm even going to go and get the first book in the series. I enjoyed the world these characters came from and the relationship blossoming between the friends as they navigated their changing lives and the future they want with each other.
