Take it Like a Vamp - Candace Havens

The Book
Release Date: 30 May 2013
Vampire Nick Christos might’ve been born in the Middle Ages, but the good old days seem tame compared to the last eight years he’s spent ruling the Supernatural Council. His only respite is with his cute neighbor Casey Meyers, a woman he wants more than any undead man should. Sure, he's forced to take a cold shower after every encounter, but there’s no way he’ll test his own strength by getting too close to a human, and he’s not willing to risk her life--not with bloodthirsty family on the prowl out to ruin Nick’s life.

When said Nick’s kin shows up, the innocent Casey is caught in the middle of a centuries old fight, and Nick’s biggest fear is realized. Now, instead of keeping his hands off his neighbor, he’ll risk everything to save the human he’s come to love.

**Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an honest review**

This book has the trifecta - Sass, Sex and hot alpha males.

I couldn't put this book down, literally , until it was finished. The author used some wicked lines that had me laughing out loud, much to the amusement of my husband.

Nick seems for most of the book like any other nice guy, his vampness never really seems to stand out much in the big bad world. Casey on the other hand seems to one of the shy girls who never know how beautiful they are, either inside or out. Just seeing her imperfections like the rest of us do.

The chemistry between them sizzles and, at times, I really did wish they would get it on already, and was so glad when they finally did.

Tucker's Fall (Purgatory Masters 1) - Eliza Gayle

The Book
Release Date: 4 January 2013

Scandalized professor Maggie Cisco returns to her hometown to lick her wounds and reconsider her future. Her years of personal and professional research into the BDSM lifestyle has landed her in jail, in divorce court and now in the headlines of more newspapers than she cares to count. The worst of all? The entire debacle is being blamed on a bestselling book she hasn’t even read!

Just when she thinks her only solution is a tell all memoir, a snowstorm puts her in the path of stunningly handsome, insanely rich and equally intense, Tucker Lewis.

Tucker remembers Maggie well. They once shared a mind-numbing kiss at the annual St. Mary’s carnival when her boyfriend wasn’t looking. No stranger to scandal, he looks past public opinion to the submissive craving a master’s touch and decides then and there what he wants. He’s going after Maggie and her heart’s kinkiest desires.

Unfortunately, no amount of money can change the sins of the past and when they’re certain they know everything there is to know about each other, one discovers a secret they aren’t prepared for.

**Provided by Netgalley and Gypsy Ink Books for an honest review**

This is the my first Eliza Gayle book and I was impressed at her story telling.

There are a lot of books written about the BSDM world and some are told really badly, this is not one of them although it did take me a while to warm to Maggie.

Tucker I loved straight away, and with the almost cliff hangar ending I wonder at how the next book in this series is going to and who exactly it is going to lead the book. Will it be Tucker and Maggie again? Will it be Nina and Mason or will it be Levi and some other as yet unknown woman...?

In either case i shall be waiting to find out how the story continues in this series.

Accidentally...Evil? (Accidentally Yours 3.5) - Mini Jean Pamfiloff

The Book
Release Date: 30 April 2013
Backlum Chaam, the God of Male Virility, wasn't always such a bad guy. Before his heart turned black and his biggest goal in life became destroying mankind, he was just like any god. Compassionate, loyal, and dedicated. So where did it all go wrong? Sometimes broken hearts don't heal...

Word count: 35,000.

My Opinion  5 STARS
God i love this author, she's got such a sense of humour with her writing.

I feel so sorry for Chaam. The poor boy is grief stricken about his poor soul mate has been ripped away from him. I bloody hope Cim knows what she is doing.

I sooooo want the next book already, it feels like i have been waiting an age already!!

Now that he has influential friends who owe him some big favors, he’s determined to become the kind of man Alethea would be interested in: rich and dangerous. Jeisa Borreto was hired to help Jeremy morph into that man. It’s a job she would enjoy, if it weren’t tearing her heart to pieces.

How can she help him change once she’s realized she’s fallen in love with the man he’s always been?

Hint: Sleeping with him doesn't help.

The Legacy Collection:

Book 2: For Love or Legacy
Book 3: Bedding the Billionaire
Book 4: Saving the Sheikh
Book 5: Rise of the Billionaire
Book 6: Breaching the Billionaire (Coming Fall 2013!)

My Opinion  4 STARS
Ruth Cardello is a brilliant author who really made Jeremy Kater realistic and a bit geeky.

Jeremy, the kid that would have been the one mocked at school (had he have gone) is a self acknowledged geek in the computer world, he's a very talented hacker.

Jesia Borreto is the daughter of a Brazilian politician and has come to Boston to get out from her sheltered world.  She is currently living as his life coach after a few unsuccessful jobs and she has fallen for the geek.

This is a story that tells you to fight for what you really want.

Entwined With You (Crossfire 3) - Sylvia Day

The Book
Release Day: 4 June 2013

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires…

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…

My Opinion  5 STARS
So there is no cliff-hangar ending and there is going to be another two books in the series... woop whoop for another book, a little disappointed with the ending as there is no longing for the next book like there is when there is a cliff-hangar or a sudden twist in the story.

Both Gideon and Eva grow as individuals in this book, although at time it does go a little slowly. The first book is still the best book in the series, but this one is still better than the second.

You have Gideon and Eva as a couple with Brett wanting Eva back and Corrine wanting Gideon back. Even Cary has Trey and Tatiana in his own love triangle. Each of the main characters seems to have its own little love triangle or unrequited love.

Still, Sylvia Day's writing flows effortlessly and sweeps you away with her imagination and brilliant story telling.

I really really loved this book... and the covers soooo pretty too.

There were so many twists and turns in this book that I never got bored or lost interest in reading the story. Even the ending left me wanting more and i'm gutted that I have to wait for the next book to come out...

The story was told brilliantly with magic, Norsk Gods and runes entwined to make the book constantly interesting with a little learning thrown it for an extra little kick.

I will be waiting eagerly for the next book in the series to come out.

Lightning Rider - Jen Greyson

The Book
Release Date: 30 May 2013

For Evy Rivera, thunderstorms have always caused her physical pain, but she's never known why. When a record-setting storm arrives on the same night her father finds ancient ancestral documents, Evy is set aglow with mysterious tiny lightnings she can command.

Even worse, she alerts some people in the universe who've been looking for her family for a very long time.

Thrown back into ancient Spain and tasked with killing a Spanish legend, she must train alongside Constantine, a sexy yet obstinate Roman warrior. He teaches her how to wield her lightning as a weapon, through more errors than trials. With a relationship as explosive as their late-night training sessions, Evy and Constantine battle their push-pull relationship while trying to ignore the two-thousand-year difference in their birthdates.

Ilif Rotiart, her quasi-mentor, is appalled at Evy's skill. He would prefer to train her father and keep Evy on the sidelines—where women belong. Evy has a feeling Ilif is keeping something from them, but she must play nice until she uncovers the truth. And if he's lying, it will be the worst day of his four-hundred-year life.

Penya Sepadas claims she's Evy's rightful trainer, and she has the prophecy to prove it. Penya doesn't share Ilif's misogynistic attitude, but she does have her own agenda...and her own secrets.

Evy must sort through the lies and find the truth behind her family's time-traveling past before the wrong history obliterates the future. She’s spent her whole life fighting for her place. Now, as the first female lightning rider, she'll dedicate her existence to fighting to save the world.

But will Evy learn to manage her lightning and find the truth before it's too late?

My Opinion  4 STARS
**Provided by Netgalley and Harlequin (UK) Limited for an honest review**

I took me quite a while to decide if i liked this book or not and therefore i found it a little slow going.

But, then the book gripped me and there was no stoping as i forged ahead to see what would happen next. I wanted to read more of what would happen between Evy and Constantine. But the slow as a snail start to the romance between them was annoying. Then it crashes ahead full speed and leaves out all the best bits :(

I can understand her dad's hesitation in all that happens, sometimes things do take longer to sink in for the older generation.

The book ends on a cliff hangar as it incorporates the first chapter of the next book, you can't help but groan, knowing you have to wait for the next one...

Now of course....i can't wait!

My Opinion  5 STARS
**Provided by Netgalley and Harlequin (UK) Limited for an honest review**

I loved this book, but i did struggle with the change of narration between Avry and Kerrick as there was no warning the change was happening.

It would have been nice if the book had more about the other supporting character like the first as this focused more on Kerrick and Avry and their running stories. Although I'm not sure if Kerricks adventure was really needed.

And the ending? Holy crap. Do we really have to wait another year for the next book? Arrrrrrr. Thats so NOT fair!

My Opinion  5 STARS
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!

The writer takes you into another world and the story is excellent. With. The narration you really feel like you are there with the characters and really experiencing it with them.

The story holds many twists and turns so you are never quite sure how the book is going to turn out which is a blessing. I don't actually like figuring whats going to happen, it sort of ruins the story.

Anyway Avry is a strong, determined female character and all the supporting roles are excellent. I love Kerrick but found him a little too closed off. His change of feelings was more than a little surprising, but felt right.

I sooooo cannot wait for the next book!!!

There are some ties that can never be broken, but Lexi and Bryce have to decide what love can heal them from their scarred pasts and what love they have to let of of. Sometimes letting go is the greatest gift of all.

My Opinion  1.5 STARS
I was really disappointed with this story.

I mainly only read it due to the way the last book ended but really wish i hadn't wasted my time even though this was more like a short novella.

The is a decent story underneath, however the writing really brings it down. The feelings do not feel real, sometimes their conversations are to advanced for people of their age and the romance scenes.... God where do i start.

The romance scenes leave a lot to be desired. At times i was crying out REALLY? You wanna write it like that? I couldn't relate to them, they felt forced and were poorly written. Either hint at what they do or write it properly otherwise it just doesn't work. It really helped to bring the book down.

I am sorry to say i will probably not read another book from this author.

Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour 3) - Olivia Cunning

The Book
Release Date: 5 February 3013
Book #3 in reading order of events in book series, per author

There are things in bassist Jace Seymour’s past that he is unwilling to share with anyone. To cover his guilt and anguish, he seeks dominatrix Mistress V (Aggie) to temporarily placate his inner turmoil.

Aggie doesn’t have much use for men–besides the power rush she gets when they’re begging for mercy at her feet–but Jace isn’t like her usual clients. His cool defiance and unexpected dominance in the bedroom drives her to distraction and quickly steals her heart.

When circumstances threaten Jace’s position in Sinners, Aggie must help him regain his rightful place in the band while showing him that time and love can heal all wounds.

My Opinion  5 STARS
This book was hot. We had the Jace, the rock star with the troubled past who liked pain with his pleasure and we had Aggie the Dom who could break down his walls whilst giving him exactly what he needed.

This book builds on the books past but it also forged ahead in the story of the previous books along with the other members of the band.

Loved the angst that Jace had and the slight battle that Aggie had in getting Jace to talk.

On another note, man this group of rock stars are unfortunate in their accidents at the moment. Are there going to be any more?

A brilliant series.

My Opinion  4 STARS
This book was really good and had me crying and laughing at times.

Lots happened to keep the book really interesting and the interaction between the two was really good especially the chemistry.

These two really couldn't keep their hands off each other.

Can't wait to read the next book.

Then the two lovers' wildly shocking behavior sparks the whole band to new heights of glory... and sin...

My Opinion  4 STARS
This book was good and it made a nice change to have the male lead character to the more sensitive of the two even though he still had that alpha male in him.

Myrna a skittish woman with commitment issues thanks to her ex-husband is a smart older woman. Thanks to a chance meeting at the hotel where she is attending a conference gets to meet one of her favourite bands, and in particular Master Sinclair (Brian).

Their relationship sizzles from the beginning and they both open each others eyes.

A brilliant story.

The Book
Release Date: 22 April 2013

Bad boys always draw her in and crush her heart, and Black Falcon’s lead guitarist, Riff, is no exception. When she returns to New York, she tries to get the passion she felt in Riff’s arms out of her head by dating Isaac, a successful representative at Center Stage Marketing. Just when she thinks she’s forgotten Riff, she’s forced to see him again when her best friend, Lanie, ropes her into being a bridesmaid for her upcoming wedding to Black Falcon front man, Noel.

Sparks fly instantly between Aubrey and Riff when they’re forced to reunite, and suddenly she finds herself caught between the man that’s good for her and the one who completely rocks her in every way.

**New Adult Romance--Book 2 in the Black Falcon series. This book can be read without reading book one.**

My Opinion  4 STARS
This is the story of Riff (Zach) and Aubrey along the same time period of books one and 1.5 in the series adding to the complexity of the story.

These two were just as compelled to be together as Noel and Lanie, just they didn't have the background together and the previous heartbreak from each other.

Both had their little issues to sort out but they both seemed stronger individuals but together seemed really sweet.

Another brilliant book in the series.

This book gets 2.5 stars

I really wanted to like this book more than i did. It held a lot of promise, but at times it felt like i was just reading fluff. The wasn't really enough substance to the story to make it believable or the emotions ring true.

I truly hope the next book in the series delivers more than this.

My Opinion  2 STARS

**Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an honest review*

The only really good bit about this book was at the ending.

It seamed that we missed the main good bits from this couples story, the getting together and the splitting apart.  None of the reminiscing really told how and why they 'parted' as  they did with enough detail.  We didn't get enough to say what this love was based upon, when it seemed it was just lust.

The telling of the story felt stunted and slightly forced and did not flow smoothly, even the sex scenes felt rushed over.

I was disappointed by by this book.

Skin in the Game - Jackie Barbosa

The Book
Release Date: 27 May 2013

Angela Peterson was always the quiet, shy kid growing up in Harper Falls, crushing on the high school quarterback and honing her football strategy skills. Now grown up and coaching the high school team, she’s shocked when that same sexy quarterback returns to Harper Falls asks her back to his hotel room. And then tries to steal her job.

Injured NFL quarterback Cade Reynolds is in Harper Falls to take over as interim head coach, and he never thought the tall, blond bombshell he propositioned would offer up any resistance. Not to a repeat of the amazingly wild night they shared and certainly not to his coaching position.

But the Harper Falls High Eagles are Angie’s team, and even the hometown hero won’t take that away from her, no matter how hot he is. As the two engage in a battle of wits and wills, this is one game neither is prepared to lose.

My Opinion  4 STARS
**Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an honest review**

Ok... so in this book we have the previously shy geeky kid who has now turned into the Red wine drinking, soccer loving, math teacher that has turned until the preverbal swan. Then we have the former school star quarterback who made it big but is currently in-between jobs due to an injury.

Of course the couple have problems to overcome, hot sex (a must in these types of books) and a man intent on causing our swan trouble.

Although the story is sweet, its nothing to write home about and the ending feels a little too rushed. But it does leave a great opening for another book in the series with another couple.

The book is not that long and didn't take too long to read (i read it in less than a day).

Altogether a sweet short story.

The Book

The greater the risk, the hotter the reward…

From that moment on, he swears he’ll never again be responsible for the loss of a loved one. But there’s a connection between Ruby’s shadowed past and a case Troy’s working involving a notorious Brooklyn felon, throwing her safety into jeopardy. Confronted with his biggest fear, will Troy push Ruby away to keep her safe or fight to keep her in his arms where she belongs?

My Opinion  4 STARS

**Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an honest review**

Although this book had a seriously hot rating its not as good as its predecessor.

We had Troy, the dominant alpha male and Ruby the sassy strong willed pool hustler and now integrated life or death situation.

The author again had some good on liners and sentences, however the ending felt slightly rushed and incomplete.

Still i avidly look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Protecting What's His (Line of Duty 1) - Tessa Bailey

The Book
Release Date: 23 February 2013
She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

My Opinion  4 STARS
Good grief, this book is so hot its throwing out steam!

Derek is an all alpha, possessive male who can be a little pushy at times. Ginger is a strong willed, sassy loyal sister. The two of them together are dynamite.

The writing is brilliant and the author has some seriously good one liners and sentences that are just genius.

I am definitely looking forward to reading book two!

My Opinion  4 STARS
**Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an honest review**

This book was an excellent second book in the Take a Chance series.

The book was fast paced and never slowed down, gripping you and taking you on the roller-coaster journey that was Brianna and Thomas (Tommy).

The emotions came through strong and felt very realistic, never feeling forced or out of balance with the situation that they were in, although things did happen very fast.

An excellent book and I greatly anticipate the third book!

Have a look at the link below for a chance to win a Kindle (wi-fi) with a customized cover with Tommy’s abs on it from the author! That’s right, not only do you get a Kindle, but you get an AUTOGRAPHED Love Me cover for your Kindle, too!
