REVIEW - Brutus (Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. #6) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The Book
Release Date: 25 August 2020
Goodreads Link

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes BRUTUS, a Paranormal Romantic Comedy that will surely cause evil vampires to kidnap the author.

CAN THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST IMMORTAL WARRIOR WIN THE HEART OF THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST IMMORTAL WOMAN?

Brutus is not your average immortal warrior. He leads the gods’ army, he’s tough as nails, and his mind is so powerful, he no longer speaks to communicate with his men. Some call him telepathic; he just calls it being a badass.

But despite the many bloody battles and hard-won victories, this is one mission he’s not so sure about. There is a plague sweeping the immortal world. Gods, vampires, incubi—no one is safe, except for those with mates, and sadly, there just aren’t enough women to go around.

To keep the gods’ army intact, ready to protect the human world, Brutus must convince a group of ancient female warriors, located deep in the Amazon jungle, to return home with him, and…well…go on dates with his men.

But when the toughest, meanest, man-hating, sexiest woman of the group catches his eye, all he can think about is conquering her heart.

WARNING: This book contains a smokin’ hot immortal warrior looking for his forever love, a randy invisible unicorn, and bad, bad, such bad language. Okay, and some sex. Fine, yes! Lots of sex! And a kitten, a bit of violence, a man who loves knitting, mannibalism, unruly deities, Mayan priests who babysit animals, a naked goddess who wears a bee bikini, leather pants (for men), a very randy ghost who’s desperate for her HEA, anecdotes about evil mermen, a BIG plot twist even the author didn’t see coming, and a ton of romancy kind of stuff.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is yet another stinking good book from the author that you will not be able to put down.  Seriously, it will stay glued to your hands until you have finished it. leaving you with a book hangover once you have finished.

This time the story focuses on Brutus, who certainly deserves a happy ending and an amazon warrior Fina, from a group warrior woman who along seem immortal.

Lots of calamity ensues and we see a little from some of the other previous immortals, Tula becomes a stronger person and we get lots of twist and turns along with a cliff hangar ending that will have you clambering for the next in the series and just having to know what is going to happen next.

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see that is in store.

**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an honest review**

This is the last book in the series and can be read as a stand alone very easily, but you get a better idea of the family feud after having read the first three books in the series.

Declan's sister was in book three and has thrown Declan a bone in wanting to get out from under the feud.  When he loses at a poker game and has to make the next woman who walks int the bar fall in love with him, he is really pleased to see the see the woman who he has had a crush for year on walk in, it does not matter that she is from the rival family.

Betsy like a lot of her other family is fed up with the feud too and wants to go it alone, she too has had a crush on a member of the other feuding family.  When she sees Declan under the willow tree she explains how she wants a christmas programme and Declan offers to help her.

IT is with having helping each other that their feeling for each other grow, but they are concerned at how their families will react.  It's a modern day Romeo and Juliet.

Both have family members that support their choice, it is only the grandma's that are not happy and have been making the feud worse each year.

I have really loved this series and will certainly miss burnt boot.

REVIEW - One Texas Cowboy Too Many (Burnt Boot, Texas #3) by Carolyn Brown

The Book
Release Date: 1 March 2016

For good girl Leah Brennan, the only thing worse than falling for the dark-eyed, tattooed Rhett O'Donnell would be falling for a member of the off-limits Gallagher clan—or maybe both.

All Leah wants is to please her grandmother and bring some peace to the feuding town of Burnt Boot. With Tanner Gallagher—her forbidden, childhood crush—flirting with her and sexy Rhett showing up wherever she goes, Leah soon realizes that this may not be as easy as it seems… Will love be enough to conquer her family's hundred-year-old feud with the Gallaghers?

My Review  5 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Tule publishing for an honest review**

This is another brilliant book in the series and Leah and Rhett were perfect for each other.

Rhett is the cousin of Sawyer and has come to help at the ranch he works at.  On his first day he meets Leah and he likes what he sees immediately, especially the sass that she comes out with.

Leah is the good girl on the Brennan side and has always done as she has been told.  However at nearly thirty and fed up of the feud between the Brennans and the Gallaghers Leah is starting to stand up on her own two feet.  She likes what she finds with Rhett and he is honest and does not play games.  He also weeps her off her feet and loves her for who she is.

We get to see the matriarch on both sides acting like children and the shit war start and Leah's dad standing up for her and supporting his daughter.

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see what happens in the last book of the series.

REVIEW - Trillion by Winter Renshaw

The Book
Release Date: 3 August 2020

Trey Westcott—devastatingly gorgeous. Intimidatingly brilliant. Powerful beyond belief.

A man with all the money in the world—literally.

As the first trillionaire in existence, my boss lives a life most people can only dream of. Anything he wants—anything at all—is a snap-of-the-fingers away.

But when the coldhearted magnate snaps his fingers and requests me for a stint on his arm playing the role of his devoted fiancĂ©e and then some, he makes an offer I can’t refuse.

And so I don’t.

But I make it clear that he’ll have my time, my body, my attention, my discreet professionalism—everything except my heart.

It’s not for sale.

Because all the money in the world can’t change the secret I’ve kept the last eight years. A secret that complicates the very business deal I’m to help him secure. A secret that makes the undeniable tension between us all the more forbidden.

Trey Westcott can have anything he wants ... but he can never have me.

Even if he’s all I’ve ever wanted.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is another brilliant book by the author and i was really swept up by the story and poor Sophie as she is taken advantage of by her first true love, a man who certainly has no problem using a young girl for his own means.

Trey was certainly a softer person than i expected.  He may play hardball in the board room, but with Sophie he rapidly went into doing anything he could just to make her happy at the expense of business.

Sophie has a good support system with her mother and i was glad that her mum was able to talk some sense into her at the end when she was likely to sabotage her own happiness at her own expense .

Glad that the nasty business man got his comeuppance in the end.

Can he overcome her defenses and capture her guarded heart?

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the 9th book of this series and i am still loving it and i certainly would love to visit Magnolia Valley.

We have met both Joanna and Micah in previous books and i am glad that this pair got a happy ever after.

Both have pasts that have shaped them to be who they are, it's just a shame that poor Joanna has a deplorable father who seems more interested in how people see him than he is cultivating his familial relations.  He is a man with two faces.

With Joanna suddenly deciding that she is still living by her fathers outdated rules and life is passing her by she decides that she is finally going to get rid of her pesky v-card.  Micah overhears her conversation with her best friend Isla and he finds himself jealous and not knowing why.  He then decides that it would be safe if he helped her out.

Friends turn into friends with benefits, but as they get to know another side of each other that they didn't know before, more feelings get in the way.  When Joanna also helps him with a poaching problem on the park he looks after and gets hurt, Micah freaks out.

Both get a chance to really examine their feelings and grow into better individuals, being more self assure with themselves.  After a little break and Micah being given some advice from his father, he makes the grand gesture and makes sure to put effort into actually getting the girl for good.

Its another brilliantly written book and i cannot wait to read the next book with Susie and Declan.

REVIEW - Dating Dr. Dreamy: A Small Town Second Chance Romance (Bliss River Book 1) by Lili Valente

The Book
Release Date: 11 August 2020
Goodreads Link

Show of hands, ladies--Who has time for the one who got away?

Not me. I'm a busy woman. It's wedding season in Bliss River and my catering business is slammed.

The last thing I need is a blast from the past, sweeping into my perfectly ordered life, talking sweet and acting even sweeter, making me think about kissing so often I start to wonder if there's something wrong with me.

Spoiler alert: There is.
It's been waaaay too long since I've made room for kissing on my To Do list.

Easy fix: I'll play doctor with Mason Stewart until I get my ex out of my system. It shouldn't take long. I give him seven days--seven dates--and then we'll go our separate ways and I'll finally move on.

The only problem?
Turns out Mason is even dreamier, sexier, more intense and magnetic than he used to be, and the only place I want to move is into his bed. Full time.

Maybe a second chance is exactly what the doctor ordered?
Or do I need a second opinion?

My Review 5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a wonderful second chance at love romance and Lili does it again with all the feels, you cannot help but feel the emotions with this book and hope that everything sorts itself out so that the characters can get to their happy ever after.

Mason knows that he screwed up with Lark 4 years ago when he abruptly left her the day after asking her to marry him.  However he has been to lots of therapy to help fix himself and work on his problems, he is a qualified doctor and he has never for a moment forgotten Lark and what he needs to do to feel ready to deserve her.

Lark was devastated when Mason left and has never really gotten over the pain of losing him.  However within a week she knows that she will never love another man like she does Mason and if it all goes pear shaped she will give up on love.

The path is certainly rocky and Lark's sister Aria certainly does not help, but we do get to see the reaction of Aria and Mason's friend Nick who will star in the next book.

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait ti see what happens with Nick and Aria and to see a little more of Lark and Mason and Melody, the girls other sister.

REVIEW - The Blood King (Inferno Rising #2) by Abigail Owen

The Book
Release Date: 25 August 2020
Goodreads Link

Ruthless dragon king Ladon Ormarr must keep his throne at all costs. And now, with war on the horizon, he’ll need a miracle. Luckily, the fates have dropped Skylar Amon right into his lap.

Except he may have met his match.

The feisty Amon sister has no fear — of him or any other dragon shifter — is brash, doesn’t stick to protocols, and regularly offends his warriors and advisers.

Skylar also has no intention of sticking around. She doesn't believe in the whole destined mates thing and believes all dragon kings to be dangerous. But if it means taking out the High King who murdered her parents, she'll put up with Ladon... temporarily.

But the fates have other plans. And when Skylar disappears in the middle of a battle, Ladon will burn down the world to find her.

My Review  5 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing LLC, for an honest review**

Skylar is the second sister of quadruplets that is a  daughter of a phoenix, which makes her extremely valuable to a Dragon King.  With a phoenix at his side he can become High King, however there has only been one Phoenix at a time before.

Ladon Ormarr is someone we met in book one.  This is part of a continuing story line and although can be read as a stand alone book, i would recommend that you read book one first to understand fully what is going on.

Skylar is a very strong character and is used to looking after her family members and doing anything to keep them safe, yet it is only Ladon that sees a part of her that known else has understood about Skylar before.  Two fairly similar characters that have a good character, stand up to each other and push each other and understand the stress that the other is going through.

I really loved this instalment and cannot wait until 2021 for the next instalment.

Now's the time to make her move. What could go wrong with hiring him as her date for the weekend?

An early version of Date for Hire was published in the AUSTRALIA charity anthology. It has since been expanded by 45%.

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a sweet prequel novella to a new series and focuses on one of the partners of a companion agency needing a date for an awards ceremony she is going to.  She therefore needs to ask on of her employees, one she has happened to have liked since he started at the agency three years ago.

Mike has also liked Aurora for the last three years and is stoked that he may finally get his chance with Aurora, however after getting close together Aurora gets scared and Mike backs off.  It is only with the help of her brother and business partner that Aurora finally sees sense that she really does want a relationship with Mike.

We get a good epilogue of six months later and the scene is certainly set up for the first character in the new series as he is asked to accept a booking for six months with will pay him handsomly.

Sometimes love happens, no matter how hard we try to avoid it....

World-famous movie star David Jacobs is tired.

The fans.

The interviews.

The fame...

Just tired.

He's finished his ten year contract as a galaxy-saving, spandex-wearing superhero and needs to get out of Hollywood.

Clear his head.

Fresh air.

A new phase.

So he moves.

To the small town of Midnight, Maine.

No one can believe their eyes.

His agent thinks he's nuts.

His fans think he's crazy.

And Professor Jane Air, local resident and professional book-nerd, thinks he's overrated. She moved to Midnight to live a quiet life- teaching, writing, reading...

Some big shot Hollywood hero is going to ruin all of that.

But he is gorgeous. And smart. And charming. And very, very sexy.

And when he catches her skinny-dipping on his property? Well, maybe he's not that overrated...

They have nothing in common, but David and Jane have more to teach each other than either one of them realizes.

***This is a sweet and sexy small town romance, full of wacky characters, wild friends, and wit. Contents include: a Happily Ever After, hot sex, random literary references, and lots of seafood.***

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author and Hidden Gems for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This appears to be the debut novel for this author and it really does not fail to deliver.

In some ways it would appear that the author must have studied literature at some point with the way that she has her characters interpreting classic novels , which also has us learning something, but the writing is really good and has a depth of emotion with the characters so that you cannot help but get taken away with the story and connect to the characters.

Jane Air is a professor at college in a sleepy little place called Midnight in Texas.  She has a brilliant girl friend base that support each other and get together weekly.  When the inhabitants find out that a famous actor has moved to their town, Jane immediately feels like she would have no chance with the man.

David Jacobs wants to get away from the rat race for a while after a long contract has finally come to an end.  It is on his property at a hidden wooded pool that he first meets Jane and he is fascinated with her and finds a way to see her again.  He hires her to help him understand the female characters in the classic books.

There is good chemistry between the pair and mainly the issue is with Jane as she struggles with self esteem issues from the past as David certainly does all the chasing, even opening up for Jane quirky friends.

I certainly look forward to book two in order what happens with Jane's friend Penelope and David friend and manager Angelo.
