****18+ due to adult language and explicit sexual content*****

Caspian Vance~former child prodigy, now an accomplished professor of human sexuality at twenty-six has it all—an IQ that's off the charts, a stellar career at which he excels, and the drop-dead looks and body that make women spontaneously combust with lust.

He's been studying sex and women's behavior since he was sixteen. When it comes to the science of human lust and the rewards of sexual pursuits, he has all the answers.

There's one thing he knows for sure: "love" has nothing to do with it.
Sex is a basic, primal human need—love is an unstable, emotional complication. Both are present in a person, but completely unrelated. His own world of logic and fact accepts this truth and now. . .

He's going to prove it.

When Cass takes a sabbatical to research his theory in order to write his third book, he enlists the help of a former lover and now owner of the world's most exotic and secretive male brothel catering strictly to wealthy older women. On this remote Caribbean island, he uses his keen sense of observation and research to prove "love" is merely a series of chemical reactions in the human brain—nothing more.

Nicola Barrington~ had the perfect life, married to her soul mate.Ten years into her one and only relationship, her idyllic world is shattered by the death of her beloved husband. The loss of her "one true love" sends her into seclusion where she spends the next eleven years pining for the man she still loves.

The beautiful heiress, stays hidden away, her only connection to the outside world being being the hired help and her two close friends. Her friends know Nic has much to live for and are eager to see her find love again. . . and if not love, they would settle for her rediscovering the throes of lust.

As her 40th birthday approaches, her two friends succeed in coaxing her out of her emotionally safe haven to celebrate with a trip to an exclusive resort known for "restoring an older woman's brilliant, inner glow."

Caspian’s superiority and logic combined with Nic's innocence and melancholy are on an imminent collision course. Sometimes even a genius has a hard time figuring out a woman.

REVIEW - Undying Destiny (The Enclave #1) by Jessica Lee

The Book
Release Date: 17 June 2013

Kenric St. James is out for revenge. Over 300 years ago, an ancient female vampire turned him against his will and killed the woman he loved. He’s spent more than a century building an Enclave of warrior vampires who have sworn to defend humanity against his evil sire and her minions. But when Kenric finds a woman he finally burns to claim as his own again, Kenric knows loving her means giving his sire another target.

Emily Ross just wanted a fresh start. She’s a survivor, coming off the tail end of an abusive relationship, and craves time alone to learn who she is and to save the home that holds her heart. The last thing she needed was a controlling, alpha male calling all the shots.

Meeting Kenric might just have changed her mind, though. He is wrong for her in all the right ways. But in order to keep her heart from breaking, he first has to keep the hoards of evil vamps from stealing her very breath.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Although this book had me turning the pages one after the other to see what was to happen next, there were some issues that I had with the story.

The first issue was with the amount of POV's we had.  It would have been much better had we stuck with just Kenric and Emily's POV as the others, although slightly enlightening, were not needed at and times ruined the suspense of the story.

The other annoying thing for me was the villain Marguerite Devonshire.  Apart from being warped in her way of thinking she was a total sexual deviant and it was a little off putting.

The Emily and Kenric story however had me enthralled, wanting to know how their story would be completed in this novel and I wasn't disappointed.

We are left with a concussion, however we are also fed details that we know the conclusions can only come from the future books in the series.

Certainly worth a read if you like your HEA with a paranormal romance.

REVIEW - A Sweet Montana Christmas by Roxanne Snopek

The Book
Release Date: 21 November 2014

Melinda Sweet loved her husband before she learned of his wealth and she loves him still, despite the fact that it’s gone. Unfortunately, while she knows the collapse of his Chicago financial services business had nothing to do with him, he believes otherwise. His upbeat adjustment to their new – and temporary – life on his grandfather’s rundown honey farm is a foil to cover the burden of failure. She wasn’t expecting to throw – in five weeks – the traditional Sweet Christmas Open House, but it’s a good earning opportunity and how hard could it be?

Austin Sweet is determined to make his wife proud of him again. But he also wants to erase the sting of shame he feels from his parents, to whom he owes a debt of gratitude for arranging for this caretaking job. Getting paid to fix up this disaster is better than living in their basement, sure. But what does he know about bees? Or fixing broken plumbing? Or cleaning a chimney?

But when Austin’s grandfather gives him the farm as a Christmas gift, there’s only one response. Accepting the gift will secure a future that will make his wife even more unhappy than he already is. Refusing the gift will finalize the rift between him and his family, but he’d rather lose them than Melinda. Then he discovers she’s spared him the choice. Austin’s not-so-Sweet side rears up as he determines that he’s done trying to make everyone happy. He’ll get his wife back, no matter what. And they’ll decide their future together.

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Tule Publishing, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Melinda and Austin Sweet have been through hell and back and the book starts where the couple are on a temporary break.  Austin is currently in Montana on his late grandfathers ranch and has been for the last month.  After having lost everything his father has asked that he look after the place until spring where they will sell and split the money.

Melinda arrives after a the month split at her mothers urging and it is only when she sees him again is she reminded just how much she loves her husband.  She never blamed his for their new circumstances, but both just got a little lost with everything that happened.

With a new purpose, Melinda makes the best of what she has and sees only the good qualities in her man.  Both pick up their pace, learn new things and work hard especially as they start talking again.

Both show how with unending love you can battle through the harsh times and make them better.  Its a warming holiday novella that is perfect to read in front of a warm fire and get a glimpse of another character from the Three River Ranch series.

REVIEW - A Kirribilli Christmas by Louise Reynolds

The Book
Release Date: 2 December 2014
Goodreads Link

Eight years ago Shelby left Sydney for LA, determined to set the world on fire. Now she's nearly broke and her boyfriend has left her alone at Christmas. Lonely and miserable, Shelby finds herself drawn back to the childhood home she thought she'd left behind . . .

Frangipani House now belongs to Dan Sayers, the boy from the wrong side of the tracks who found a new start in Kirribilli. When he spots Shelby dragging her suitcase up the front steps on Christmas Eve, he can't believe his eyes. It's been four years since he last saw her. Then, she'd been aloof, a stranger in designer sunglasses and killer heels, barely acknowledging their shared past.

As Christmas unfolds, Shelby and Dan grow closer than ever before and Shelby begins to see her ramshackle home in a new light. But before she and Dan can have any hope of a future together, they must first confront their past.

My Opinion  2.5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Books Australia/Destiny Romance, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

The description for Australia and the surrounding area was good in this novella, however I found the  story itself a little lacking.

I found that novella lacked enough telling us why Shelby had left home in the first place and then again when the foster children were together, the frosty atmosphere could not be explained and needed it.  If the novella was a book and these parts fleshed out i'm sure it would make more sense.

Dan is a lovely character, warm and welcoming, however the story moves on quickly and I found the ending a little flat.  Again if this had been a full length novel with more fleshing out this could have been a really decent read.

REVIEW - The Navy SEAL's Christmas Bride (The Heroes of Chance Creek #2.5) by Cora Seton

The Book
Release Date: 16 December 2014
Goodreads Link

It’s Christmas time at Crescent Hall, but don’t expect peace, harmony and goodwill among men. When Mason Hall and his wife, Regan, invite their friends to stay for the holidays, sparks fly in an epic battle of the sexes, military style!

Navy SEAL Dan Hemmins goes head to head with soldier Sarah Metlin to prove once and for all that woman can’t possibly qualify for an elite branch of the military, but when Sarah proves she’s not just one of the most qualified warriors he’s ever met, she’s also one of the smartest and sexiest, too, he’ll do whatever it takes to get close to her, even if he has to challenge her to another contest…or three…or five!

My Opinion  5 STARS
** Copy provided by Netgalley and CrushStar Multimedia LLC for an honest review**

I loved this series and couldn't wait to get my hands on this novella and it did not disappoint.

The Halls are celebrating the Christmas period and have invited a couple of friends to help them celebrate.  Ex-SEAL Dan has only recently left the services and has the idea of setting up a facility where men can experience the elite training that the special forces go through.

Sarah has put her paperwork in to leave the army and has had to fight for equality from not only other colleagues but from her family.

Both seems to love the competition that starts up between them as they both find something in the other that they didn't quite know that they were looking for.  The completion brings up lust and their competitive spirits.

Its a very high paced novella and I enjoyed the story so much I wish that the novella was a full length book instead.  Really looking forward to reading Zane's story now :)

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and EntangledPublishing LLC, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

A paranormal christmas story that will have you grinning at times and shows you a strong female and male character.  I was please that with what happened to Mara and with what she learns she doesn't fall apart, but respectfully requests time to 'deal' with the information that has been given to her.

Connor is a lust filled vampire who remembers meeting Mara at a wedding about ten years ago, before she was married and wanting her then, feeling the attraction and heat he feels even now.

Loved how well that Connor integrated with her family and took her thoughts and feelings seriously.

This is a heart-warming story that is fast-paced and warming.

REIVEW - Beneath the Scars by Melanie Moreland

The Book
Release Date: 14 October 2014
Goodreads Link

The sound of the ocean, the crash of the waves as they kick up against the sand and rocks—these are the only sounds Megan Greene wants to hear. She wants to leave the rest of the world behind, and find some peace. The offer of a private house on the beach, set in a small town in Maine, is perfect. Time to think—to be by herself. It’s all she wants. It’s the escape she needs.

Until she stumbles across the painting that seems to echo her own chaotic mindset. Until she meets the unfriendly artist behind the stormy painting and discovers his secrets.

All Zachary Adams wants is to be left alone. His canvases, and the unending scope of the ocean and sand, are his life. They direct him—fill his hours. Bring him focus.

Until she enters his life. She dredges up memories of the past—the haunting images he has hidden for years; the fears he has never shared. A story he keeps buried below the surface.

Can she make him see what he is missing? Can he trust her enough to believe?

Together they embark on a journey where their pasts collide and threaten to tear them apart. Will their fragile bond hold or wash away with the ebbing tide?

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

The description of this book pulled me in as it sounded intriguing and something that I would love and I was not disappointed.

The authors writing style pulled me straight into the story and I was unable to put the book down.  Sometimes I was smiling, sometimes I was crying and sometimes I was pulling my hair out in frustration.

Yes there is insta-lust which can be annoying, especially as Megan has just come out of a really bad relationship, but it did work.

Both characters are damaged in some way, but Zachary is the one with the most issues to overcome and Megan always shows him patience and love as he tries to overcome his issues, however a spanner is thrown into the works when her ex turns up and spreads lies.

Megan instantly forgives the fact that he runs away, knowing it is because of his past, but she is still very much hurt and struggles to cope without him.

There is a lot of heartache, turbulent emotions and a bought of healing all tumbled together to give a punch of a story that just gets better the further you get into it.  It is a little slow to begin with, but soon I was completely sucked into the book.

The ending had me on tenterhooks tears streaming down my face as I witnessed the transformation in Zachary.

A brilliant read.

Kayleigh knows this can’t be right--his heart was always devoted to his music. But as they spend more and more time together, Luke is awfully convincing that his heart belongs to someone else…

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a friends to lovers story where they had already become lovers in the past until Luke went away to pursue his music career.

Eight years later, Luke has returned home for a little rest and when he immediately sees Kayleigh everything comes rushing back and he finds her his calm amongst the storm.  Both have really missed the other, he has used her as his muse, and even though both have had partners since, both still very much love the other.

Luke is another man in the family that seems to see exactly what he wants and goes full pelt to get it.  Kayleigh has no choice but to accept Luke back into her life as he is intent this time that he is not going to let her go.

As of other books in the series, something happens to rock their happy little world and things have to be sorted out but we get a HEA.

A brilliant ending to the series.

EXCERPT
Reece was anticipating being told to buy her own damned beer, but after a long, silent beat, Broody turned to the bartender and lifted a hand.
“Whatever the lady wants,” he rumbled in a gravelly voice that made Reece’s skin prickle. “Add it to my tab.”
“I’ll have a Blue Moon, extra orange slice.” Reece smiled at the bartender as she slid onto the stool next to her tortured cowboy. “Thanks for the drink. You been here long?”
“About an hour,” the man replied, moving his hat to his other side and resuming his moody glaring into the amber liquid inside his pint glass. “I’m heading out soon.”
“I meant in Lonesome Point, not the bar,” Reece said. “You look like you’ve been around long enough to get sick of the small town bullshit.”
He stretched his neck from one side to the other but kept his attention fixed on the bar. “Small town, big city…bullshit’s all the same.”
Reece nodded, mulling that over while she thanked the bartender and squeezed her two orange slices into her beer. “I guess so, but there are more places to get away from it in the city. More places where nobody knows your name.”
“I don’t know your name.” Broody’s attention shifted her way as she took a long drink of the ice-cold beer.
She moaned softly in appreciation as the cold bubbles dulled the edges of her headache. She knew it was probably just the pain pill kicking in, but there was still something magical about an ice-cold beer.
“No, you don’t.” She grinned up at him as she wiped the foam from her upper lip with a sensuous sweep of her thumb, not missing the way the man’s eyes lingered on her mouth. “And why don’t we keep it that way? I won’t tell you my name and you won’t tell me yours. We can be each other’s place where nobody knows our name.”
Mr. Tortured nodded and the hint of a smile curved his full lips. “Sounds like a plan, Shortstack.”
Reece arched one brow. “Because I’m short and stacked?”
Adorably, the man blushed in response. “It was the first short person nickname that came to mind. Haven’t taken a good look at the other.”
“Well, go ahead,” Reece said, holding his gaze, relishing the tension beginning to thicken the air between them. “I don’t mind.”
After a moment, the man leaned closer, but his eyes didn’t waver from hers. “I don’t treat women that way.”
“Then how do you treat women?” Reece asked, shifting until her leg brushed his. “I’m curious.”
“Curiosity can be dangerous,” he said in a husky voice that made Reece’s nipples tighten and her next sip of beer go straight to her head. “What if I’m not a nice guy?”
“What if I’m not a nice girl?” Reece countered, setting her beer down and bringing her hand to rest on his thigh, relishing the rock hard muscles beneath the denim.

Oh yeah, this man definitely had what she was looking for, and then some.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This can be read as a stand alone book in the series, however be warned, once you pick the book up, you can't put it down again until it's finished.

I thought I loved her previous characters, but Grayson and Reece had me falling in love with them completely and giving me yet another book boyfriend to replace the others.

Reece Hearst is injured after her last bull ride and still hurting twelve years later after the cause that made her leave Lonesome Point behind.

Grayson Parker, her tormentors son, is a man home from war who has now overcome his war demons and see's the pain that Reece is hiding.  When he realises exactly how she started off hurt he does everything in his power to help her, being as patient and protective as she will allow him.

When both get a shocking piece of news, it only pushes them closer together as they both deal with their emotions.

Both have a searing attraction to each other from the moment they first meet that only seems to get stronger the longer they are together and with sharing their past their emotional ties to each other only get stronger.

As with the previous books in the series we get a dramatic ending and a HEA that will both leave you with a nail biting experience and a warm happy feeling as things go the way they should.

I really CAN'T wait for the next book to come out.

To have and to hoax...

Wild child lingerie store owner Lucy Hamilton is a happily confirmed bachelorette. As far as she's concerned, men are something best enjoyed in small doses, never to be allowed too close. Then Lucy's mother tells her Aunt Bev that Lucy has eloped and is married—a tiny lie only meant to appease the dying woman...until Aunt Bev miraculously recovers. Now Lucy needs to find a "husband" for an upcoming family wedding, and fast.

Fortunately, Lucy's ridiculously hot, ridiculously straitlaced new accountant Dex Levian is willing to be her stand-in spouse for the weekend. And that's when the trouble really begins. For starters, Dex's "involvement" with a client―no matter how irresistible―might ruin a merger he hopes will make his career. Worse still, the chemistry between Dex and Lucy is more than convincing―it's sizzling. But for Lucy, falling for her fake new husband is the most dangerous thing she can do...

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and EntangledPublishing LLC, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

The chemistry between Dex and Lucy is there right from the beginning even though from looks they wouldn't match.  Her look says wild child, whilst his speaks his accounts profession.

A little white lie that Lucy's mum has told her grandmother of sorts has come to bite them on the bottom and now Lucy finds herself in an awkward position that ends up with the rest of the family lying too.

Sex is a hot former Marine who is in the accounting business, however there is more life in him than meets the eye.  Sexy, sweet and very hot in bed, Dex carefully challenges what Lucy thinks about him.

Lucy is all about her horrible father and having been hurt in the past.  However with sweet help from Dex she starts to have more than just friendly feelings for Dex.  He brings out the best in her and supports her when she needs it.

A short sweet read, where the girl has issues to overcome.

But when the fireworks between them burn hotter than the Vegas Strip, Chris and Eliza know they only have one night to get it right. Because this time, what doesn't happen in Vegas could haunt them forever...

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and EntangledPublishing LLC, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a very fast paced novella that takes place over the New year in Vegas.

It's a brothers best friend and crush to lovers story and you can really feel the angst from years ago come into play as they meet up again for the first time in ten years.

The brother is a piece of work as you get the idea that he knows they are meant to be together and just happens to help them along.  It makes a change from the brothers who are not happy when relationships turn into more.

I would be happy to read more from this author.

REVIEW - A True Alpha Christmas by Alisa Woods

New Adult Paranormal Romance

STAND-ALONE NOVELLA - best enjoyed after reading the True Alpha Box Set (Vol 1-6)

Shifters live in the shadows of Seattle, just under the skin of the alpha male, dot-com entrepreneurs who are building a new Silicon Valley in the Emerald City. Mia is your everyday college girl, trying to earn her business degree—and a shifter who’s long hidden her identity from everyone, including her mother, who believes shifter is synonymous with criminal. Six months ago, sexy and powerful alpha-male Lucas rescued her in an alley and claimed her for his mate. Now Mia’s heart belongs to Lucas, and everyone in the world of shifters understands the magic of their mating has bonded them for life. But in the human world, there’s no wedding ring on her finger to show for it. With Christmas looming, Mia’s mother wants to finally meet Mia’s mysterious and high-powered live-in lover. With her human and shifter lives about to irrevocably collide, Mia fears there will be nothing but broken hearts in the end.

A True Alpha Christmas is 80 pages or 20,000 words. This novella can be read as a standalone, but readers will enjoy it more if they read the True Alpha serial (Vol 1-6) first.

Adult content. Ages 18+.

Coming 1.19.15 - Dark Alpha! A new serial from Alisa Woods set in the same Shifters-in-Seattle world as True Alpha.

My Opinion  3 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and All Night Reads for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a very short novella that comes after the True Alpha series and gives us just a little more of Mia and Lucas.

The Christmas part of the title is misleading as this story has NOTHING to do with Christmas.

We yet again see how sweet Lucas is and how far he is willing to go for Mia, but we also get to mostly see a moody Mia which did annoy me slightly.

It's a nice bit off fluff and makes you feel good at the end but doesn't really hold any substance to it.

Her friend. Her boss. Her husband?

Betsy Harris has always known Jace Macnamara was off-limits. Not only is he a close friend, he also happens to be her boss—making him doubly forbidden. Betsy’s too timid to ever admit her crush, nor ‘fess up to the fact that she’s secretly drowning in her mother’s medical bills.

Jace just found out he needs a wife and needs one now. His childhood home—the last reminder he has of his deceased parents—can only become his if he gets married, but Jace, ever the playboy, never dreamed of settling down for real. Neither Betsy nor Jace wants to ruin their friendship when their fake marriage inevitably ends, so they vow to keep things light, professional, easy. But as Betsy comes out of her shell, Jace begins to see his “wife” for the beautiful, caring woman she is. Can he risk their past for a future together?

Betsy has shown us little moments of her character where she can be more outgoing, however we get to see SOO MUCH MORE, yet she still has her very shy moments.

Jace also shows us more of his personality, how giving he is anyhow patient he can be.  He really helped bring Betsy out of herself and stood up for her quite a few times.

A marriage of convenience turns friends into closer friends and then lovers and of course we get a misunderstanding before the great big HEA.

A great finish to the end of the series.
