REVIEW - The Hunt by Alice Ward

The Book
Release Date: 28 August 2017
Goodreads Link

When I began the hunt, I didn’t know I’d find her.

Confined to a mental health facility with a rare chromosomal disorder, my little brother began sending me on scavenger hunts to uncover the world for him when we were kids.

When one of his quests brings me to a greasy Connecticut diner, my life is completely altered. Caitlyn, the gorgeous prince slaying waitress, turns down my indecent proposal and ignites my need to conquer her at all costs.

With a reputation for being a billionaire ruthless womanizer, I can’t fault her assumptions. But now I’m on my own quest... to tame my unbridled passions long enough to get this little waitress, artist, and humanitarian into my bed.

As I lay bare my soul to capture her heart, I wonder...am I bringing the world to my brother or is he giving life to me?

This was a really good book and i learned quite a bit about Williams Syndrome as i ended up having to google it as one character had me interested .

You will certainly need your tissues with this one as two sad events occur, but the whole book is so gripping that i could hardly put the book down, only finishing it at 2am.

Both characters grow and learn about trust, hurt and letting go along with how having the right person beside them can make the bad times that little bit better.

I have not read a book like it and it makes a refreshing change in the rich man, poorer girl, older man, younger woman trope.

I would certainly recommend this book.

Book 3 in The Album Series - Carol's Story

Carol Barronse is frantic as her ordered life has been flung into chaos. Pauline passed The Album onto her but it’s disappeared. She’s the one who’s looked forward to the magic the most; now she can't even use it. To top it off, she realises her boyfriend, Cliff, has disappeared with The Album. The sense of betrayal leaves her reeling.

She hires private investigator, Darryn Reeve, to help her find her missing treasure. Shocked at her inexplicable attraction to the man after coming out of a serious relationship, she’s reluctant to fly with him to Canada in search of the stolen artefact, but her need to find The Album burns strong.

In Canada, they soon discover that not only has Cliff stolen The Album, but also magic antiques belonging to other people from South Africa. They soon recover the artefact but, much to Carol’s disappointment, the magic is broken. Carol needs answers and is also burning to help the other antique owners - even if it means leaving her successful career and working with Darryn who has his own issues from his past.

How can Carol still have feelings for a man who keeps on breaking her heart? And will she fix the magic? Once again, The Album's magic works in mysterious ways.

Carol is a straight laced Girl who likes spreadsheets, however her life is turned into turmoil when she finds that her boyfriend has stolen The Album which was past to her by her friend.

There is a connection right from the beginning between Carol and a the private detective she hires (Darryn) and they both fight against the chemistry they feel.

Carol finds herself on a new path with the discovery of The Album and in a way also finds herself again, whilst Darryn lets go of his past.

There are quite a few enlightening moments for Carol and it is good that she has some really good friends to rely on.

It was a good book, but it does not have me rushing out to read the other books in the series.

REVIEW - Breathless (Players to Men) by Georgia Lyn Hunter

The Book
Release Date: 20 December 2016
Goodreads Link

When the fairy tale life you believed in falls apart, there is nothing else left…

Or so I thought, until Trouble, wrapped in one hunky body and a sinful smile promising untold pleasure of the carnal kind, lands on my doorstep. Despite what my body demands or the fact that I’m irresistibly drawn to him, I’d been burned too deeply to dare try again. Besides, Max Meade-Sinclair is my younger sister’s best friend—and totally off-limits.

Ila Logan’s coolly dismissive manner captures and challenges me from the moment our paths cross. What I want, I usually get. A little thing like age isn’t going to stop me. Neither are the men who disappear into her secluded room. However, she proves a difficult opponent who leaves me falling for her a little more at each encounter.
This tempestuous woman is mine, but to win her, I must dig deeper, and show her that beneath my brawling, player facade exists a man who would go to the ends of the earth to make her happy.

But surviving my own dark past may just destroy the fragile bond growing between us…

I really enjoyed this book, yes the girl was older than the boy by 4 years, but in the grand scheme of things, so what.

Max has been through a lot and is still suffering with nothing seeming to help his headaches and fast to arrive anger.

Ila Logan has been through a relationship where the trust was completely broken and now retreats into her art for release, however Max stirs up more feeling in her than she is used too, especially as he is determined that Ila is the woman for him.

Both have good friends and i couldn't help but fall a little for Max, he may have been through a lot, but he went after what he wanted and he was;t afraid to fight for it and bee there for Ila when she needed him, making her whole again in the process.

Would certainly like to read more about the other characters mentioned in the book.

REVIEW - Oh, Henry (OHellNo #2) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The Book
Release Date: 25 August 2017

From New York Times Bestseller, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Comes OH, HENRY, Book Two of the Ohellno Series. (Stand Alone Story.)

SHE’S GOT ME BY THE FOOTBALLS…
My name is Henry Walton, and though I’ve been called many things throughout my life—tree trunk, moose, walrus—I am now six foot five, solid muscle, and the hottest defensive end in the NFL college draft. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for: fame, women, and glory.

Just one problem: I’m suddenly in a bad slump. And it started the moment I got dumped by Elle, the nerdy goddess with thick glasses, a smokin’ hot body, and a genius IQ.
So what gives? We only dated for a few weeks, and it’s not like I’ve missed her. (Much.) Regardless, all the facts point to one conclusion. Elle is my lucky nerd-charm.

Call me superstitious, but I have to get her back before I lose everything. Even if she’s the last girl I should want and she now hates my guts.

Yay, i really loved this book and i managed to read it in only one day it was that epic.

Henry is a man on a mission and is actually quite sweet and determined, despite his rather nasty father.

Meanwhile Elle is a woman who is very intelligent, behind her years, but is trying to keep her college/friend life separate from her home life where things are not ok at all.

Both have trust issues, but Henry is able to overcome his faster than Elle, but Henry shows that he is willing to make the sacrifice for them, where it takes Elle that little bit longer.

We also find that Elle is reading a Mimi Jean book, but  you will just have to find out which one that is for yourself.

The book ends on a cliff hangar, so if that is not your type of thing then you will be disappointed, for me it just amps up the excitement for book three!

This book took me a good few days to read when normally i can read a book in a day.  It didn't really grab me so i made the unusual decision for me to read another book in between.

Levi was ok, but should have manned up a little earlier and admitted his feeling and Harper was just too damn stubborn to see past her own nose.

Leviis at least persistent in his want to protect Harper even if it means pushing her away, but luckily for him she comes around to see him for what he is doing.

A decent book, but not one i would pick back up right away to re-read.

REVIEW - Hung (Mister Hotshot Book 1) by Anne Marsh

The Book
Release Date: 12 August 2017
Goodreads Link

He’s big.
He’s sexy.
And he’s hung.

The first time I meet Pick Revere I tried to bash his head in with a baseball bat. The second time, I kissed the ever-loving daylights out of him on a dare. For a girl who’s on the lam and hiding from her cop ex, I’m failing miserably at laying low. Instead, I’m going up in delicious flames—because Pick’s the hottest, roughest, toughest bad boy firefighter I’ve ever laid eyes (or lips) on. He promises he has a big hose—and knows how to use it. I’d investigate, but I need my job as a cook at the fire camp. I’m supposed to serve my hotshot breakfast—not me. I’m supposed to keep my secrets. And I’m definitely supposed to stay single.

But I’m not prepared for what happens after our kiss. Pick’s magnetic and dangerous. He’s short-term fun—not Mr. Commitment. But then he volunteers to be my muscle when my douche ex tracks me down. And I shouldn’t want more than that.

But I do.

I should run as fast as I could from Pick.

But I won’t.

Because he sets me on fire and you know what they say about firefighters—the hotter you get, the faster they come. How’s a gal to say no?

This full-length standalone from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Anne Marsh is full of dirty swoonworthy hotshot firefighters that know how to use their hoses and who are about to learn how to use their hearts. This novel was originally published as a much shorter and tamer novella by eKensington and has been completely rewritten. The book is twice as big... and so are the hoses

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

In this book we have a woman named Sarah-Jo on the run from a nasty ex boyfriend and Pick Revere a hotshot firefighter who loves his job fighting wildfires.

It had a decent plot line, it had me turning page after page and engaged in the story.

I wasn't quite sure of Sarah Jo, but Pick seemed like a solid guy, the kind of guy you hope you end up with or at least be a best buddy of yours.  His firefighting buddies also seemed great fun and would be there for you if you needed them.

The ending was a bit Blah, but overall it was a good book.
