REVIEW - Pulled Under (Kill Devil Hills #3) by Sarah Darlington

The Book
Release Date: 1 September 2015

man-child. noun.

: a grown man who is very immature, therefor considered a man-child

manwhore. noun.
: a promiscuous man who has no regard for his sexual partners or the emotional value of his relationships

Rhett Morgan couldn't have been more wrong for me. The guy drank beer in the shower, for crying out loud. He had no prospects for the future, had slept with half the women in our beach town of Kill Devil Hills, and had no desire to change his manwhore ways.

And when Ben Turner, the guy I had loved from afar for the past four years, died and I couldn't get over his death, I desperately needed a distraction. A distraction like Rhett. So I used him for a one-night stand. Because, after all, that's the only thing a guy like Rhett is good for...right?

My Opinion  4 STARS

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Rhett is your typical man whore, however a second encounter with shy a first Sydney has him changing his ways as he o-so-fast falls in love with her wanting to change his ways and have his first proper girlfriend.

Sydney has always had a crush on Ben Turner and twice in a row she has used Rhett to help get over the feeling.  At the end you certainly think that Ben is a tool and needs to sort himself out.

Rhett sometimes acts a little wet or a little too emotional and a little immature for his age, Sydney however does not give him enough credit.

Glad they end up together, but i can't wait for Ben's story and to find out why he did what he did and who he falls in love with to turn his life around for.

ELLIE

For years Ellie Turner's had a crush on the ruggedly handsome, beast of a man, television actor, Nate West. This isn't your average 'fan-girl crush' either, it's borderline obsessive, and totally inconvenient since, other than this one exception, Ellie's always been strictly into girls. But it doesn't matter...because Nate doesn't exist in real life. In real life Ellie has her own issues to worry about, including the death of her brother, the recent suicide attempt of her sister, and then there's always her annoying roommate Rhett to contend with.

NATE
Nate West isn't looking to start a new relationship. He's still heartbroken over the last girl who ripped out his insides, still learning how to manage his new-found fame, and, frankly, not even sure what time-zone he's in. His life is so full of stress, the last thing he wants is more of it.

So when Nate and Ellie meet on an airplane, nothing life changing should have come from it. But "sometimes in life--very rarely, I might add--you meet someone and you know instantly they're going to mean something special to you."

**NEW ADULT ROMANCE**
Recommended for 18+. F/M scenes only. Changing Tides can be read as a standalone, but is recommended to be read second in Sarah Darlington's KILL DEVIL HILLS Series.

My Opinion  4 STARS

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I actually really liked this book, although i would say Ellie is bisexual and not a lesbian.

I was glad that Ellie gets a story, however, changing her sexual orientation may be taken badly by other readers and I'm not sure how real this seems.

I loved that Ellie stayed true to the person that she is and that she gave as good as she got back to Nate, but i think that she gave in a little too easily and there was not enough in regards to mixed feelings as to why this was the only man that she felt any attraction too.

I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

He’s twenty-four. She’s eighteen.

His life is exactly the way he’s always wanted it to be...stable.
She’s quite possibly the very definition of unstable.

Noah saved her.
Georgina never wanted to be saved.

Growing up, Noah Clark was passed from one relative to the next until he finally ended up living with his abusive, alcoholic uncle in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Thanks in part to the unwavering love and support of his best friend, Ellie Turner, Noah survived those years, escaped his uncle, and grew into the man he is today. Now he runs his own business and lives a pretty normal, no-nonsense life—one where he maintains a high level of control.

Georgina is Ellie’s younger sister. Four months ago, Noah saved Georgie’s life, but he thought that was where his involvement with his friend’s sister would end. Now Georgie has returned home from the recovery facility her parents sent her away to and Noah, still haunted by the night that connects them, can’t stop himself from continuously trying to protect this girl he barely knows. But is he willing to give up all of the control he’s worked so hard to build in his life and risk everything for her? Even more importantly, would she do the same for him?

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book has been really well written and covers a subject that can be difficult to write about, let alone read about.  However i think that the author covered the topic of almost suicide really well and compassionately.

Georgina is a troubled young woman who after the death of her only brother, took things very hard, but it is her oldest sisters best friend Noah that finds her.

Noah also has his own issues of anxiety in which he often ends up cleaning to calm himself down.  However after the sucicide attempt, Noah can't get Georgina out of her mind, and when she comes back he finds that he still cannot get her out of his head.

The chemistry between the two starts from the very night that she is back home and they both compliment each other and end up being just the person each needs to get over their ordeals and to just feel themselves and comfortable again.

Two really well thought out and written characters.

Our first meeting as neighbors was screwed from the start.
He was hot. I was naked. And we had no chance in hell at ever being platonic.

I’ll be the first to admit that I live at extremes. After going ten years locked in what felt like a dysfunctional marriage, I’m now decidedly boy-free. In nearly three years I’ve had no boyfriends, no flings, no dates and no sex. For the sake of my dream career, the sacrifice has been easy.

At least it was.

Until he came along.

Lukas Hendricks. He’s rude, gorgeous, arrogant – a stone-carved wall of muscle and distraction. He’s everything I know to avoid but there’s no avoiding your next-door neighbor. Oh yeah. The man now lives three steps from me and to make matters worse, he crashed into my life while I was relaxed in the tub – mortifying to say the least and it went something like this: I was exposed. He looked. He laughed.

And then I locked myself out.

In short, Lukas Hendricks was trouble from the start. And me?

I was – for the first time in years – about to be screwed.

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Lia has all but been a hermit in her apartment for the last three years.  She has been creating her business in a new place, but after a troubled marriage has all but given up on men.

Lukas is her neighbours brother and they first meet when he is a little too loud moving into his sisters apartment whilst she is away.

Lukas is arrogant from the beginning which immediately gives Lia the wrong impression about him, however Lukas knows he wants Lia and he will do what it takes to win her over.

There are no real twists or turns however you can see that Lia is a woman who has had a hard past but is building herself back up.

This is not an author that i have read before, however i would certainly be willing to read more from this author in the future.

REVIEW - Hard Limits (Bowen Boys #4.5) by Elle Aycart

The Book
Release Date: 4 April 2017

DO NOT READ before Jacked Up.

***MAJOR SPOILERS***

Nico Grabar, head of one of the most ruthless cartels in the world, is in the last stretch of a two-year nightmare, his agenda extremely busy. He has a criminal organization to run. A cover to maintain. A promise to fulfill. Too bad he’s bleeding to death in the middle of nowhere, about to meet his maker on a deserted street. A fitting ending to a bleak existence, really. When a beautiful Vintage bride with racoon eyes and a choke collar, covered from head to military boots in blood, came to him. It looked like the Grim Reaper had gotten a makeover just for him. What an honor.

Who finds a frigging drug lord in serious need of resuscitation while coming back from a bachelorette party at the wee hours? Paige, aka magnet for psychopaths, of course.
The Goth waitress at Rosita’s has already survived a major asshole, narrowly escaping with her life. The last she needs is to have to play Nightingale to a dangerous kingpin. What if he dies on her? Or worse; what if he doesn’t?

My Opinion  5 STARS

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a novella, however it manages to get a lot into the story, but you certainly need to read Jacked Up before this book in order to understand how Paige and Nico have met and the circumstances into their situation.

The latest edition will have your hearts melting and your panties heating up as Nico and Paige storm through the pages and defy all to be together and find peace with one another.

Nico is another alpha male who protects what he considers as his and Paige is another woman who has a backbone and shows us that life and what happens to you is what you make of it and how you react.

I can't wait to see who gets a book next as all Elle Aycart books are at the top of my to be read list as soon as they are available.

REVIEW - Jacked Up (Bowen Boys #4) by Elle Aycart

The Books
Release Date: 8 March 2017

Since James Bowen married Elle Cooper’s sister, tall dark and handsome Jack Copeland has become a permanent fixture in Elle’s life. A silent, rather annoying fixture, with his arrogant aloofness and my-way-or-the-highway attitude rubbing her the wrong way. So she does what any self-respecting woman would: aggravate the wits out of him for fun.

Party girl Elle Cooper is everything covert operative Jack Copeland doesn’t want in a woman. Outspoken, sassy. A smartass. Too bad when he closes his eyes, all his mind conjures is her. To everyone else, he comes off as intimidating and unapproachable. Everyone except Elle. So he does what any self-respecting man would: stay the hell away from her. But when Elle gets herself in deep trouble, all of Jack’s protective instincts kick in and keeping his distance is no longer an option.

With Jack and Elle in such close proximity, sparks are flying all over and it’s only a matter of time before they ignite. The only question is, who will kill Elle first, the vicious drug cartel hunting her or Jack?

My Opinion  5 STARS

I can't get enough of this series by Elle Aycart.  Seriously hot alpha men and sassy women who show their  men that they have a backbone too.

Elle is related to the Bowen's by marriage, but that does not stop them from being over bearing and all alpha male protective over her.  Jack has been in the picture, but his job keeps him away and he can't say much about it.

Elle being Elle however, ends up finding herself in a little hot water where Jack finds that he is home looking after a woman who does not seem to find him intimidating and puts an endless amount of energy and light into his bleak life.

All the characters are well rounded and you can't help routing that things go well so that Jack and Elle  end up together, things as always take a slight turn so that we get a little excitement before the calming of two hearts.

Loved this book.

REVIEW - My Stepbrother, My Lover (My Stepbrother, My Lover #1) by Alice Ward

The Book
Release Date: 4 May 2015
Goodreads Link

"My Stepbrother, My Lover" is a Hot New Adult Stepbrother Romance by Alice Ward.

This is a Full Sized (approx. 430 Pages) Standalone Novel with NO Cliffhanger!

I should have known better.

The moment Jackson Montgomery III showed up for his tutoring session, I knew he was trouble, but I ignored my intuition.

Soon, I couldn't get my mind off him and he had no trouble letting me know that he wanted more than lessons from me.

The only problem was, he was the heir to a family fortune and I was the product of a single, feminist mother and working to supplement my financial aid at Harvard.

We shouldn't have been together, but I'm proof that opposites attract and I was definitely attracted to him and wanted him in a bad way.

Temptation weakened my resolve and I ended up having the most erotic night of my life with Jackson, but by the next afternoon everything took a turn for the worst.

The sexy frat boy that just rocked my world was in his ex's arms and I was devastated.

Then, a surprise engagement announcement from my mother revealed yet another unbelievable turn of events.

She's marrying Jackson's father, and the man I hated and wanted more than anything was now going to be my new stepbrother!

This book is intended for a mature audience, 18+ only.

My Opinion  2.5 STARS
I had a hard time at times in reading this book as both characters gave me whip lash with their personalities.  One minutes they were nice, the next they were nasty to each other.  It just didn't sit right with me.

Kennedy seemed really immature.  One minute she really disliked Jackson, the next she wanted to jump his bones.  One minute she wants to make their relationship public, the next she wants to keep it quiet.

Jackson also came across as kinda stalker like and not at all alpha like.  He was easily ploughed over and he too also seemed quite childish.

This could have been such a good book, but fell down in a few too many areas for me.

REVIEW - A Princess in Waiting (Rothman Royals #3) by Noelle Adams

The Book
Release Date: 22 March 2017

I was born the youngest princess of a tiny country in the Alps, but I've never been any good at being a princess. I'm shy and bookish, and I don't know how to flirt. The only man I'm comfortable around is my best friend, Alex. I used to have a crush on him, but I don't anymore.

I absolutely don't.

Right now, I'm interested in a handsome French millionaire, but I need Alex to help me learn how to be attractive to men. He agrees because he's my friend, but he doesn't seem happy about it.

And I need to remember that Alex is just giving me lessons. He isn't the man I'm trying to win.

My Opinion 5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

You always  know what you are going to get with a book from this author.  A little spice, good clean characters who you can't help but route for and a male character that can sometimes be a little slow on the uptake.

I loved reading Lisette's story and and the will they won't they get together angle and wondered if her mother had anything about pushing them together finally.

Certainly will not be my last book from this author.

REVIEW - Keep Me Safe: A Small Town Suspenseful Love Story (Port James Book 1) by Alyssa Coolen

The Book
Release Date: 1 March 2017
Goodreads Link

The kiss was rough. Passionate. Completely wrong and inappropriate, though I was too lost to care.

Every night, I have the same nightmare: A dark room. An open door. And my stalker, waiting to attack me.

I've moved back home to heal, but even the comforts of my childhood don't seem to be enough. Until, one day, another part of my past catches up to me....

Knox Fitzgerald, my first love. Still as sexy as ever, he manages to sweep me off my feet as if we were just a couple of teenagers again.

I feel complete with him. Loved. Many years ago, he was my first, and now I want him to be my last.

Finally, I feel safe.

That is, until I get a package at my door.

He has found me.

He still wants me.

And now, he's not just after me.

The only man who can keep me safe is the man I pushed away for years. Will Knox protect me from my stalker and give me a second chance at life... and at love? And can I ever feel safe again, even in Knox's arms?

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Considering that this is the first book by this author it was very well put together, with just a couple of things that kept me from giving it a full 5 Stars.

The plot was good and it was not until 2/3 into this book that i guessed at who the stalker was.  I was right.

The are some vague areas, as to why our main character could not put her finger on something that didn't sit quite well with me, but overall it is a very good book and a book of a slide from what i have been reading recently.

I loved that when it mattered the family came together, even if they were slightly dysfunctional in their own way.

I can most certainly see myself reading more from this author in the future.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I really liked this book and have been waiting to read Gideon and Zoe's story.

Yes they are foster brother and sister, so as long as you can get over that then you should have no problems reading this book.  It's a little on the dark side and there are explicit sex details, but if you have read books from this author then you already know this.

We get a lot of internal dialogue from both characters as they struggle with their changing relationship and the threat to their way of life.  We see a little of the characters from the previous book, however they play a more minor role this time round.

Glad that i had the change to review this book which is the last in this series.

REVIEW - The Chocolate Cure (Love at the Chocolate Shop #4) by Roxanne Snopek

The Book
Release Date: 12 January 2016
Goodreads Link

No more chocolate! No more meddling! No more men!

New Year’s resolutions are great. Announcing them in a crowded bar, with a chocolate martini in her hand? Not Maddie Cash’s finest moment. It’s time this new realtor got serious about her life and this time, she means it.

But when hospital volunteering lands her at the bedside of bruised and battered Mick Meyer, who has no knowledge of Maddie’s reputation – and no memory of the kiss he begged from her during that long, pain-filled night, her best-laid plans are put in jeopardy. It’s not just his sweet tooth that’s tempting her.

The hunky bush pilot with the concussion has an old family property to unload. Making this sale could be Maddie’s professional salvation. But when Mick turns on the charm, she’s in danger of forgetting all her best intentions… on chocolate… on meddling… and especially on men.

My Opinion  3 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Tule Publishing, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I think that this is the cleanest book that i have read in a long time.  The most this pair will do is kiss, however the story does not need anything further to happen.

This is a story of a woman who makes some new years resolutions that she cannot remember at first, and all of them will be hard for her to keep.  Especially when she volunteers at the hospital and meets bush pilot Mick who is delirious with pain and his concussion.

Each character has wit and humour in their situations and are both engaging and make you smile with their flirting and banter.

Its a cute story in which we get the point of view from both Maddie and Mick and having not read any of the other books in the series can confirm that it can be read as a stand alone book.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the fourth book in the series and the second book by this author that i have read and it can be read as a stand alone story.

We met Kane a little in the previous book when he comforted Katrina when she needed it, however here we see so many more sides of him.

Eliana like Kane grew up in money, however her mother is of the narcissistic type and is always putting her daughter down.  Eliana is a sweet woman who has a love of animals and gets under Kane's skin from the moment he meets her.

Serious issues are mentioned in this book, just like the previous book and it is heart warming at how all the characters and supporting characters react and come together to help.

Both very quickly find their lives spinning out of control with their initial meeting, however in a good way.  Both are good natured and do seem to compliment each other well.

I can't wait to see who is next in this series.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Mimi Jean fast became a one-click author for me.  She has a way of writing fun loving witty stories that have you laughing and glad that the two characters get together and always have a happy ever after.

This is the second book in the series and can be read as a stand-a-lone book, however, just because they are so fab, i would recommend that you read them all.

Sarah Rae Alma is a Judge who is out in an awkward position and Colt Young makes her all twisted up and not quite her professional self.

Its Colts notebook however that is the game changer and from then on Sarah does everything she can to help Colt and she can't help getting more and more involved with the man who seems quite determined to be as close to her as he can.

It's a panty melting, heart warming story that you just can't help turning page after page.

REVIEW - Heart of a Bad Boy (Destiny #3) by Sugar Jamison

The Book
Release Date: 31 May 2016
Goodreads Link

The Bad Boys of Destiny are back and this sexy charmer will stop at nothing to win the heart of the one woman who never let him down.

Shelly Walker was born to be good. Raised by her deeply religious, prison guard father, Shelly was taught that good girls follow the rules—and definitely don’t sin. Just as her father announces he’s arranging her marriage, Shelly’s childhood friend-turned-TV host, Levi King, unexpectedly returns. With his sexy smile and bad boy charm he’s the type of guy who has sin written all over him.

Levi has been fond of Shelly since childhood, but when he returns to town, he sees that the delicate girl he knew has turned into a bombshell. Levi encourages Shelly to shake things up, but when Shelly tells him that she’s considering obeying her father and starting a family, Levi realizes that being with Shelly means more to him than just a good time. Will Shelly follow the rules or will she take a chance on the bad boy?

My Opinion  4 STARS
Again i cannot give this book a higher rating as a lot of this just overlaps the previous books, but from Levi's perspective as all the books happen over the same time period.

Levi is the joker of the brothers, but we also see that he wears his heart on his sleeve a little more and is not as jaded and closed off as his brothers, although he uses flirting as his shield.

Michelle, often just called Shelly is a woman who has not experienced much and has kept herself very sheltered.  She is the towns good girl and has been best friends with Levi for most of his life.

They make a very sweet couple, and Levi shows great patience with her and slowly helps to get her out of her shell and experiencing things in a way that is not too out of her depths.

Levi is my favourite out of the brothers, but the overlap in the writing in all the books really  pulled things down.
