REVIEW - The One Who Loves You (Tickled Pink #1) by Pippa Grant

The Book

From USA Today bestselling author Pippa Grant comes a fabulously sharp-witted romantic comedy about a socialite’s fall from elitist grace to backcountry purgatory—and her accidental tumble into love.

If the Upper East Side had an evil twin, it would be Tickled Pink, Wisconsin. This run-down, backwoods town isn’t worthy of the footprint of my Louboutins, never mind all of me.

But when my grandmother has a near-death experience and realizes we Lightlys can’t buy our way into heaven, she relocates the family to Tickled Pink to work on improving our souls. And that’s how I trade my heiress existence for gigantic bugs, dishwater coffee, and a cranky single dad named Teague Miller.

Teague spends his days fishing, raising his spunky teenager, and after an unfortunate incident involving cheese curds, living rent-free in my head. The one thing he and I can agree on is that I don’t belong here. He’s willing to help me escape—until the unexpected happens.

I kind of like him. I might even more than like him.

But am I ready to give up the life I adored for a man I love to hate?

**My thanks to Netgalley and Montlake Romance for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

When this book starts off, I started to wonder where the author was going to go with this, but as a constant to the authors writing we have strong characters and a witty dialogue along with characters that grow and you cannot help but love.

Phoebe Lightly is a socialite from New York in the the backwoods with her family after the matriarch of the family has a come to Jesus moment from nearly dying one evening.  The family needs to reform and find themselves.

Phoebe show that she is not afraid of hard work, nor is she afraid of facing things head on and she certainly grows a a person and stays true to the good side of herself.

Teague lives in the backwoods and has an ex-wife that he gets on with along with his teenage daughter who he has shared custody of.  He is very protective of those he loves, but he is also hiding secrets.

Teague and Phoebe are a good pairing and it ends up being Phoebe teaching Teague more life lessons as she goes through her changes in a very public way.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this series and cannot wait for the next book and to see what happens with the Lightly family.

REVIEW - Wed To The Alien Warlord by January Bell

The Book
Release Date: 7 July 2022

The alien who hand-picked me to wed and bed is the most domineering warlord of the bunch. Lucky me.

As the first humans allowed in Suevan space, there’s a lot riding on my all-woman team. Earth desperately needs their tech, and I’m determined to prove we can negotiate the price. Without their planetary defense systems, Earth is a sitting duck, ripe for invasion.

Except the Suevan culture is nothing like ours.

When I take part in what I think is a welcoming ceremony, I leave with more than I bargained for: a husband. A mate. Apparently, we’re there to marry them as payment—something the top brass on Earth doesn’t bother denying. Fantastic.

And the Suevan who hand-picked me to wed and bed? He’s the most domineering warlord of the bunch. Lucky me. I’ll get the Suevan tech we need, but there’s no way I’m giving in to his demands… no matter how, ahem, persuasive he might be.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have really enjoyed it.

Captain Niki Jacks is in charge of an all woman mission to an alien planet where she has been told by the Earth Federation that they must take part in a welcoming ceremony to make sure a deal is brokered for a technology deal to go through.  What they don't know is that it is actually a wedding ceremony and earth have duped them into it.

Warlord Draz is a force, but when it comes to the woman he has mated he is patient, caring and respectful of her wishes.  Draz always speaks the truth and makes it clear what he wants and what he will do to court Niki.  He helps Niki navigate his world and looks after her where she is stubborn and self neglectful.

Both make a good team together and support and look after each other where it is needed.

I really loved the relationship between this pair and watching the romance blossom, especially for Niki was lovely.  They had really good chemistry together.

I am looking forward to reading more from this author and reading more from this series.
