REVIEW - Sweet the Sin (Revenge Saga #1) by Claire Kent

The Book
Release Date: 7 July 2015
Goodreads Link

In the first novel in USA Today bestselling author Claire Kent’s deeply sensual story of love, lust, and deception, a woman searching for the truth discovers that she’s sleeping with the enemy.

Portrait artist Kelly Watson keeps her relationships simple and steamy, with no strings attached. She’s had a hard time trusting other people since she was a child, when her father was murdered for trying to blow the whistle on corporate corruption. Nearly twenty years later, Kelly finds herself in the arms of a seductive stranger—the very same man who may have ordered her father’s death. And even as she plays him, using hot sex as a means to revenge, Kelly is tormented by one question: Is she committing the ultimate betrayal?

Caleb Marshall has spent decades forging a high-powered career, rejecting intimacy for the convenience of fast women and cheap thrills. But Kelly intrigues him, pushing commitment buttons he didn’t know he had. Still, something is wrong. Despite their physical and emotional chemistry, Caleb feels the fear inside of her. Now the only way to keep her safe is coming clean, before secrets and lies destroy their connection—no matter how deep, intense, and addictive it may be.

Sweet the Sin is intended for mature audiences. Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I will admit that i did struggle to read this book. There was not that much that grabbed me and said you have to read all of this right this minute!

Both characters hid secrets and i'm not sure i liked the way that our heroine acted, especially at the beginning. Caleb showed that he could change, but he never outwardly lied to Kelly, whereas Kelly was constantly leing and manipulating Caleb.

A few issues get sorted, however the story does seem to drag on a little, with an awful lot of fucking going on. Hopefully the unresolved issues will be in the second book. Although at this point i'm not quite sure if I will be reading it.

REVIEW - One Beautiful Revenge (Wild Rush, #4) by J. Evans

The Book
Release Date: 25 June 2015
Goodreads

A dark, sexy, emotionally charged romance by NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Jessie Evans writing as J. Evans.

They say revenge is a dish best served cold…

DANNY
It’s been a year since I learned the truth about the scandal at Sterling University. Since then I have become a cold bastard with a block of ice and hate where my heart used to be. But when I board the plane to Costa Rica I look like a laid back surfer without a care in the world. I haven’t decided whether to kill Todd, Jeremy, J.D., and Scott while they’re living it up on their senior trip, or just make them wish they were dead, but I know one thing—whatever I decide, no one is going to suspect I’m the one responsible.

I have planned the perfect revenge. At least I think I have. Then I see her…

SAM
They say great minds think alike, but I’m shocked when I return from the beach in Costa Rica to find Danny waiting on my balcony. After all we’ve been through, I was afraid there would be no way back to the easy love we once had. But soon I learn that our shared enemies have made us stronger and our connection more powerful and passionate than it was before.

Now we just have to decide—carry through with our dark plans, or get out before it’s too late.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review.**

My heart broke right at the beginning for Sam and what she has been  through and how she has only existed for the last year.

The description is done wonderfully that you really feel Sam's emotions especially her pain.  I also loved how Danny brought his strength and support to Jessica when she needed at that they were both able to adapt and find what they were missing in each other again.

This story is darker than the previous books, but I really think that it is the best possible ending to the series.

I would most definitely recommend not only this book, but this series to other readers.

* *CLIFFHANGER ALERT:  Deep Domination ends in a cliffhanger. It is the 2nd in the Bought by the Billionaire serial romance series. For maximum enjoyment the series should be read in order.* *

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review.**

This part of the series was seriously HOT and will have me with sleepless nights until I am able to read part three.

Lili has really turned up the heat with this installment and has you feeling sorry for both Hannah and Jackson with how Harley has treated them.

I really hope that things end well with them and that Jackson can be healed by Hannah and her soft heart and that the family curse can be solved.

SPOTLIGHT (Excerpt) - The Bargain by Christine S. Feldman

The Book
Re-Release Date: 16 June 2015
Goodreads Link

Tomboy Shannon Mahoney has always been a lot more comfortable with power tools than high heels or lipstick, and she wishes she could reinvent herself and finally tell her perfect boss, Drew Kingston, she has had a crush on him since high school. But she is just as tongue-tied and awkward around him now as she ever was, and long-familiar patterns are hard things from which to break free…

Ladies’ man Michael is a former bad boy looking for redemption. He is desperate to atone for past mistakes that he made with his family, but younger brother Drew has cut him out of his life and refuses to even speak to him. Which means Michael needs help getting to Drew.

And so he approaches Shannon with a proposition: If she will get Drew to agree to hear him out, Michael will mentor Shannon in how to win his brother’s heart. Suspicious of Michael’s motives, Shannon initially enters into the bargain just to make sure Michael isn’t actually in town to cause trouble for Drew, but the two unlikely allies are surprised to discover they enjoy each other’s company far more than either expected.

Shannon starts to realize that maybe love isn’t about reinventing yourself after all. It’s about finding your perfect match.

Excerpt
“So, ten years…That would take it all the way back to high school, wouldn’t it?”
She nodded, still very deliberately working on getting just the right amount of ketchup on her fry so she wouldn’t have to look at him.
“Wait—were you and Drew in the same graduating class?”
“Yeah.”
“Then that would mean…so you and I were actually in school together?”
“For a year, yes.”
He gave her a very thorough once-over as if trying to place her. “You and I—we never hooked up in high school, did we?”
Shannon’s mouth fell open. “No, we certainly did not!”
“So is that why you were really so mad at me the other day?”
“What?” she sputtered hotly. “You are unbelievable!”
“Oh, so we did hook up.”
“You—“
A slow grin spread across his face, and she realized he was playing with her.
Taking a deep breath, she bit back a name she had been about to call him. “You get a perverse pleasure out of yanking my chain, don’t you?”
“Kind of, yes.”
“Aren’t you afraid I might back out of the deal?”
“No, I think you realize it’s in Drew’s best interest. Besides,” he added with a knowing gleam in his eye, “I think you get a perverse pleasure out of putting me back in my place, so we’re developing a great little symbiotic relationship here. Don’t you agree?”
“What? Oh, I’m sorry. I’m still recovering from the shock of hearing such big words come out of your mouth.”

Michael started to laugh, and Shannon felt a kind of rush go through her…

REVIEW - Hired Bride (Beaufort Brides, #1) by Noelle Adams

For years, Deanna's eccentric grandmother has been trying to marry her off to a rich man, and she's finally managed to do it. Deanna has spent her life trying to take care of those she loves, and a six-month marriage should be a simple enough way to keep their historic Savannah house from falling down around their heads.

Sexy, obnoxious Mitchell Graves needs a wife to finalize a business deal, and he snaps up Deanna as the most expedient option. Because she's quiet, he thinks she'll be easy enough to manage as a wife.

He couldn't be more wrong.

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review.**

Deanna is a strong willed character but in order to help save her family home agrees to marry Mitchell for six months in which he will pay for the repairs to  her family home.

As with all other Noelle Adams books there is wit in the writing with lots of lust and romance.

For some strange reason however it took me a couple of chapters to get into the story, but once i was i kept needing to know what was going to happen next.

With how the book ended i am guessing that it is Deanna's sister that is the nanny that is next to have her story told and to get her happy ever after.

Kate is on a mission to expose Rey Doyle for the pitiless criminal he is, but the more she learns about Rey and his past, the more she begins to admire the man. When the chance to bring him down arrives will she take it? Or will this bad boy claim her heart instead?

My Opinion  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review.**

This is a fake girlfriend story that whittles away a few hours, but brings nothing new to the role.

It was only an average read, but certainly would be good to read after a really emotional read where you need something to just coast along with.

The plot was fairly predictable and being an Entangled romance we get a HEA, but as this is a short story/novella we do not get enough story to really identify with the characters.

EXCERPT
Hannah’s eyes flew open and her lips parted in a scream, but the enormous man straddling her pressed his hand tighter to her lips, muffling the sound.
She jerked her arms downward, ready to fight him off, only to discover that her wrists were tied to the headboard. Terror rushed through her and her pulse sped, setting her heart to slamming against her ribs as she tugged harder on her bonds. But the rope biting into her wrists assured her she wouldn’t be able to fight her way free.
She was bound tight, powerless to protect herself from whatever this man intended to do to her.
“Relax, princess. It’s just me.” The man leaned down, the water dripping from the end of his nose, landing on Hannah’s cheek, making her flinch. “I came in through the window. I thought I’d make that fantasy you were telling me about a reality.”
Hannah swallowed, her thundering heartbeat slowing a bit as she understood what was happening.
She wasn’t being attacked by an intruder. This man must be Harley’s guy of the moment, and he clearly thought he was straddling her sister. Once she cleared up the misunderstanding, he’d untie her and she could show him to the door. They’d both be embarrassed, no doubt, but she wasn’t about to be raped or murdered.
The realization made her whip-tight muscles sag with relief, an action she realized too late that the man took as an invitation to continue living out Harley’s bondage fantasy.
“I’ve been dying to touch you all day,” he said, his dry palm moving from her mouth to her breast, teasing her nipple through her thin tee shirt, drawing a gasp from her throat.
She expected his touch to feel foreign and unwelcome, but his fingers were gentle, teasing her with a sweetness that made her arch into his warm hand. Electricity shot from her breast to coil between her legs, the sensation intensified by the feel of the rope digging into her wrists as her biceps tightened reflexively in response to the stranger’s confident touch.
“God, the sounds you make drive me crazy,” the man said, pinching her nipple tight enough to make her gasp again.
“No, please, I’m not—” Hannah’s words ended in a moan as he pushed her shirt up and bent lower, tugging her nipple into the warm, wet heat of his mouth. His tongue flicked and teased, flooding her body with pleasure and longing so intense she was panting by the time he transferred his mouth to her other breast, sucking and nibbling at the aroused skin as his big hand slipped down the front of her panties, finding where she was already wet.
Wet, from her sister’s boyfriend’s mouth on her breasts. And now his fingers were sliding into where she ached, making her shudder.
If she didn’t stop this soon, it would be too late. There would be no avoiding tragedy, there would be only shame and the nightmare of confessing to her sister and this innocent man that she’d done something unforgivable.
“Stop, I’m not Harley.” She tensed her thighs only to relax them a second later when she realized her locked muscles were trapping his fingers inside her embarrassingly slick sex.
“No, you’re not,” he said, driving his fingers in and out of her as he trapped her nipple between his teeth and bit down, making her cry out in pain before he soothed away the hurt with his tongue.
“You’re my little slut,” he continued in his deep, sexy rumble of a voice, his fingers still busy between her legs, making the tension coiling low in her body fist even tighter. “And I’m going to fuck you until you scream.”

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Another HOT instalment in this series from Jackie that has you turning page after page and marvelling at the workings of Jackie's mind.

The story continues from book one in where they are investigating what was going on with Alex's fathers casino and the link to Conrad South's casino in Monte Carlo.  South being an old enemy of Alex.

Katya is Alex's bodyguard and also holds her own secrets and pain, pain that she too has buried deep.  Both end up helping each other and healing their pain as Katya refuses to give up on Alex as he constantly tries to push her away.  She is the only one that has ever refused to give up on him.

The emotions between the two characters feel real and leap off the page and you can't help but want the characters to hook up and stay together.

Katya shows great strength as events go on and she helps Alex overcome many fears and stand up to the events of his past, we also get to see a little of the other members of the Nine Circles.

I greatly anticipate the next book in the series with Zac and Eva.

EXCERPT
The streetlamp flickered as he pulled up to her cheerful yellow house, which looked as happy as she used to be.“Ready, sweetheart?”
She nodded and climbed out. Grabbing their bags from the trunk, he walked up the curved pavement.  She froze in the doorway. He peered over to study the scene.
The place looked empty. Sure, it was still fully furnished, with the aqua blue sofa and throw cushions, bright watercolors on the walls, braided rugs, and the sturdy pine table that reminded him of Mama Conte’s. The curvy metal spiral staircase leading to the tiny loft/attic gave the place a quaint charm. But the space pulsed with a hollow gloom, and a fine sheen of dust covered the surfaces. It had been empty only for a few months, but damned if he didn’t get the impression of sadness, as if the place needed human inhabitants in order to be happy.
“I never thought I’d be back here,” she said faintly. “I have nothing. No clothes. My laptop. Even my toothbrush.”
He gently pushed her through and shut the door behind them. “That’s easily fixed in the morning. Besides, I’m not minty fresh myself. I’ll run into town early and get what you need.”
“David wanted me to put it on the market. I refused. Not sure why.”
He didn’t say the truth because they both knew it. She’d sensed something wasn’t right between them, and selling her home gave her no exit plan. Wolfe checked the closets and found a set of sheets and blankets. He quickly made the bed while she stood and watched, so exhausted she seemed to sway on her feet. He took her hand, pushed her gently onto the edge of the mattress, and knelt before her. Untying her sneakers, he removed them, giving each foot a quick squeeze, then urged her under the quilt. Her face reflected a childish trust that made his gut clench and a fierce sense of possession rush through him. Damned if he wouldn’t battle anyone in order to protect her. He’d let her go once to another and her heart got trashed. From now on, any guy would have to get through him first.
Wolfe refused to analyze the emotions beneath the thought. He pulled the tie from her hair so it was loose, and pushed the unruly waves back from her forehead.
“Sleep, sweetheart.” He turned to leave but her whisper stopped him.
“Will you stay with me? I’m sorry—I’m such a baby, and a mess, but I’m just—scared.”
She blinked furiously, her lower lip trembling. Hell. He didn’t like sleeping with anyone because of the nightmares, but he wouldn’t leave her alone. Not like this. Wolfe nodded. Toed off his shoes. Then settled himself on top of the quilt and drew her against him. Her scent swamped him, the sweet scent of daisies, and the pureness of soap. Fresh. Clean. So unlike him.
She wiggled her butt, settled in, and slowly, her muscles relaxed. He tightened his grip around her waist, soaking in the closeness and body heat that simmered like a campfire. Cursing under his breath, he concentrated on his breathing and tried not to get aroused. He’d kissed many women. Slept with even more. Yet the honest passion she gave him during that one kiss would haunt him forever. But Gen was his friend. His confidant. His everything. He’d never ruin it with sex. Sleep came slowly.

This is a cute little novella that can be read as a stand alone story.

A fast paced read that I fell in love with.  Both characters were hurt in some degree or had a secret to hide, but with the help of each other these issues were overcome as the connection between then had not diminished.  On seeing each other again, things immediately went back to how they had been when things fell apart.

Certainly worth a read, even if you do not read the rest of the series.
