I Know What You Did Last Summer meets Pretty Little Liars in Avery Aster’s new novel Always & Forever, Vive.

Operator: “911, what’s your emergency?”

“Help! I need help. My name is Viveca Farnworth. I’m in a high-rise on the Upper West Side. My friends, Lex, Taddy, Blake, and I are being held hostage by a lunatic with a gun.” I choked back a cry as the voice on the other line asked who’d abducted us. I swear on my Chanel handbag collection I’ve got the worst flippin’ luck ever! “It’s a fellow student…that I’ve been…dating,” I replied. Shit! He’s coming back. Hanging up, I slipped the cellphone in my pocket. He doesn’t know I have it.

With a body that’s ripped in all the right places, utterly gorgeous, and so freakin’ charming, I glared at him—part in fear, part in some freaky-deaky state of arousal. I couldn’t believe I’d fallen for this psycho. The sex had been so hot. Everything had been so perfect between us. I loved him. And now, he wants me and my Manhattanites…dead? But why? And what can I do to stop him?

So the inkling that Vive had in XO Blake we not unfounded.  However it turns out to be someone that Vive just does not expect.

It adds another reason as to why Vive is how she is as an adult and you kinda feel sorry for all they she has had to go through all before the age of 21.

There is the usual snark, wit, sass and naughty bits that make up Avery's books and a good plot that has you turning page after page.

For fans of the dark comedy BDSM film Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down comes an erotic exploration in domination and submission where Ivy League students let their naughtiest desires run wild…

If you think my besties Lex, Taddy, and Vive have had some bad luck earlier this year, cut to me at Glamorama. Last thing I remembered was dancing with Diego and Miguel from my English class, when the room started… spinning. And not in a good way! We got sick. Think Regan in The Exorcist. Taddy was rushed to the hospital. Holding on for dear life, I was carried out by the boys and taken back to their dorm.

Now I’m waking up in Diego’s bed and Miguel keeps staring at me from across the room. I’ve wanted to get into these dudes’ pants since the first day of class. But Diego told me he likes to be tied up and—wait for it—spanked. WTF! The news on TV reports that last night we all got roofied. And Vive just texted me saying that someone is out to kill her. Could this semester get any more bizarre? -–Blake Morgan, college freshman, gay best friend, virgin

Although this book was good and gave us a little moron Blake's beginning, i was expecting a little more on the Diego, Blake romance corner.

We get another disaster with the Manhattanite crew  with sad consequences for Taddy.

Blake is still the glue that keeps all of the friends together and we get the moment when Thor tells Blake, the first person other than his family that he is HIV positive.

As the friends stick together through this latest setback we get a conspiracy theory coming through for their misfortune.

Vive's story is the last one to come and it will be interesting to see what happens next while they are at college.

REVIEW - Unconventional (The Manhattanites #4) by Avery Aster

The Book
Release Date: 26 January 2016
Goodreads Link

From the NYT Bestselling author of The Manhattanites series and for fans of such films as Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Wild Things comes a ménage romance posing the question; can two men share the same woman forever?

They are the best of friends and the greatest of lovers. Two men and one woman, searching for fortune and fame, bound together by an eroticism their money and power can’t buy them. Luigi, the romantic alpha hunk. Rocco, the exotic bisexual. Jemma, the insatiable beauty who possesses them both.

From their first rendezvous in Milan, the three set out on a wicked course, jet-setting from the kinky underground sex clubs of Berlin, to the lavish palaces of Moscow, to New York’s high society in pursuit of pleasure. They have only each other to care for. That is…until a baby comes along and changes their destiny. But which of them is the father? And will they continue their poly relationship or give in to convention?

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Avery Aster for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This seems more like a novella as its not as long as some of the former novels and is told from all three view points of Luigi, Rocco and Jemma.

We get a small part where the manhattanites are part of the book, but it mostly focuses just on our three characters and their thruple relationship.

We hear about what has happened in the last year to get  them to the point they are currently in and we get to see as they bond even closer and get their well deserved HEA.

Luigi is the alpha male of the relationship, Rocco is the emotional once and Jemma is their balance.

Looking forward to getting Viveca's story and seeing how she gets out of the dark place that she is in.

Blake soon realizes there’s only one man he may trust to make these uninhibited intentions come to fruition: his best friend Miguel Santana.

He was livid when Blake walked down the aisle with the wrong guy. Miguel has his own list titled the Seven Needs, which are quite contrary to Blake’s dirty-boy deeds. They involve serious commitments, which may leave his new-to-the-singles-scene buddy sprinting for the door, destroying any hopes Miguel has for happiness.

Can these two hunks conquer their intimate fears and love one another as only best friends can? Join the star-studded cast in The Manhattanites series and see for yourself!

**My thanks to NetGalley and Avery Aster for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

There are so many narrators in this story but each one is distinguishable from the other which is not an easy thing to do.

You can read this as a stand a lone story, but you get a better character idea if you read the other books first there by learning some of the characters traits before hand.

If you do not like graphic sex scenes between two men, this will definitely not be a book for you, this is an erotic graphic story that has lots going on and a hell of a lot of drama all sandwiched between a very loyal group of friends that have their own personal issues.

This is not a book to missed within the series and certainly will open your eyes to a few issues that get swept under the carpet in some books.

REVIEW - One Week With Her Rival (Eden Manor #1) by Noelle Adams

The Book
Release Date: 17 February 2016

Vanessa never wanted to be a contractor, but ever since her husband died, she has been trying to hold together his business. Her attempts are constantly hampered by sexy, charming Joe Coleman, another local contractor who wants nothing more than to buy her out. Now they're thrown together in a job at Eden Manor, a bed and breakfast and huge renovation job that can only be completed if they work together.
Vanessa is willing to be a professional and work with Joe if she has to. But she trusted him in the past and only got burned as a result, so she's never going to let down her guard with him again. It would be a lot easier if he wasn't so irresistible--and if he didn't seem to want so much more from her than her business.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Vanessa is a young widow trying to keep her husbands construction company afloat, and Joe is her competition and a man that has flirted with her for the last few years.

Joe as cocky when he first moved home, thinking that he could just buy Vanessa out, however years later he is tired of the play that they keep going over.

Joe has decided to change things to end their stalemate and to move things forward, however Vanessa still has her doubts and has been hurt once by him before.

The writing brings you into the week that changes everything for them and keeps previous characters in from other series.  We also get a small introduction to the next character in this novella series.

REVIEW - Savage (London Mob #1) by Michelle St. James

The Book
Release Date: 9 February 2016
Goodreads Link

***A new full-length series from the bestselling author of Ruthless, Fearless, and Lawless***

If I was Superman, Jenna was my Kryptonite.

Farrell Black is dirty, dangerous, and holds nothing sacred. Growing up on the mean streets of London, he clawed his way to the top of a criminal empire with nothing but sheer force of will and the determination to need no one.

Ever.

Then he met Jenna Carver, and all bets were off — until the day she walked out of his life without a backward glance.

Leaving him was the hardest thing she’d ever done.

As a kid, Jenna knew how people looked at her. Like she was stupid. Worthless. Poor. So she spent her life working to become someone else. Then she met Farrell Black, and their all-consuming passion blew a hole in everything she thought she knew about herself.

Until she was forced to make a terrible choice.

Now Jenna is back in London for her father's funeral, desperate to avoid the one man who can banish her hard-earned reason in favor of red-hot ecstasy. But when her father’s death is tied to an abuse of power at the highest levels, she has no choice but to ask Farrell for help.

As they work together to find answers to a puzzle that could have dangerous implications, desire threatens to undo them both — and forces Jenna to choose between keeping the secret of a lifetime and having the one man who can command her body and soul.

***Approximately 325 pages and 75,000 words. Amazon's algorithms for calculating page count are sometimes incorrect.***

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Michelle has done it again with this series.  I really could not stop turning page after page just NEEDING to know what happens next.

We met both Jenna Carver and Farrell Black in the previous series with Nico and Angel, however at the time they were both on different continents.

Jenna however goes back home to England for her fathers funeral and bumps into Farrell again, the father of her daughter Lily, a daughter Farrell knows nothing about.

You certainly feel the tension between the two and the attraction that keeps them coming back for more, and you really feel for both of them as Jenna decides what she is going to do.

Farrell helps her anyway he can with the mystery of her father, only to show her what she was afraid of right from the beginning.  But both Farrell and Jenna know that there will never be anyone else for them like each other no matter what happens.

Jenna just has to find the place she wants between her head and her heart.

Really can't wait to find out what happens next.

Excerpt

Darkness was the one thing in this world I didn’t care for—probably because I felt most comfortable with facts. Seeing objects equated seeing facts.  There is the floor. There is the couch.  Facts.

Guessing where things were— I think the leg of this table is around here somewhere—ouch! —was inefficient, useless. It was why nightlights were invented.

So when I entered John Doe’s dark room, the first thing I wanted was to bring in some light.

“Mr. Doe?” I said to the dark figure seated in the corner of the small room, staring at me like an eerie scarecrow waiting to frighten the shit out of anything that crossed its path. “My name is Dr. Valentine. I’m the new director. May I turn on the lights so we can discuss the reason you are here?”

“I asked not to be disturbed.” The man’s deep, masculine voice felt like a cold, chilling slap. Yet strangely, it was also…Well, I didn’t know really. Hypnotic, perhaps.

I squinted, my eyes straining to see his face but only able to make out his silhouette—broad shoulders, short hair, and fit-looking arms from the shadows of biceps I was able to spot.

“That’s exactly why we need to talk,” I said. “It’s come to my attention that you are not here to seek therapy—”

“Leave.”

My mouth flapped for a moment. “I’m sorry, but did you—”

“I said leave,” he growled.

Sadly for him, intimidation didn’t work on me. Not that I was stupid and wouldn’t get out of harm’s way. The question was, did he intend to harm me?

“And if I don’t?” I asked, testing the waters. His response would tell me everything I needed to know. Reading people’s internal emotional state was another gift of mine.

I waited for a reply.

And then I waited some more.

He’s not going to answer me. Fine.  This was silly and a completely unproductive use of my time. I would just have to see him with my own two eyes. My gift would do the rest.

“Okay. These lights are going—” I flipped the switch, and the moment my eyes met his, I was hit by a hard wave of…

“Holy fuck,” I gasped.

I flipped off the lights, turned, and left the room.  Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. What was that?

My Opinion  5 STARS

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

With the surprise in the last book that Mack is actually Callias, Kings twin brother, you really want him to have a happy ever after, even knowing that he has had enough of history repeating itself.

Mack had me from the first book, and although this book is a little lighter than the other books, it still had me crying at one point and thinking WTH.  Seriously, there is a twist at the end that I didn't see coming and I was a little amped by it, as then you REALLY want to know what is going to happen next.

Teddi, a very intelligent woman copes with the upheaval in her life very well.  Although suddenly feeling things she never has before, considering that everything happens within a week or so to begin with, you see how strong a character she is.

I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!!

REVIEW - The Billionaire Heartbreaker (The Billionaire's Club: Texas Heartthrobs #3) by Mandy Baxter

The Book
Release Date: 8 December 2015
Goodreads Link

In The Billionaire Heartbreaker by Mandy Baxter, Travis Christensen's life is one big party. He only has two concerns: being a star goalkeeper on the ice for the Dallas Stars, and keeping a revolving door of women at his beck and call. But when a feisty, fiery PR rep comes to tone down his image before the coach benches him, Travis has got a whole new mess on his hands...and he can't help but want more.

Reily Martin never met an image she couldn't make squeaky clean. So when the coach of the Dallas Stars hires her to reform their bad-boy goalie, Reily is more than up to the challenge. But dealing with the arrogant-and incredibly sexy-Travis Christensen proves to be more than she bargained for. She knows she shouldn't fall for hockey's most notorious playboy-but as the heat blazes between them, it gets harder and harder to say no.

My Opinion  3 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book is not as good as the previous book in the series, but it's still worth a read.

Travis is the 'other' twin and has a reputation as being a bit of a ladies man.  He also doesn't give a fig about what others think of him.

It is only those closet to him though that know that this is not the true him.  He is loyal to his family and they come before the game of Hockey.

However Reily seems a powerhouse of a woman at the beginning, but goes very soft when she and Travis get together for the first time.  Both go a little mooney eyed, Travis especially.

Things go very fast between them and we have a push you away scenario and one how will not give up until they get the one that they want even if it  costs them everything.

A soft read, but nothing special.

REVIEW - Bad Boy Valentine (Bad Boys on Holiday #2) by Sylvia Pierce

The Book
Release Date: 1 February 2016
Goodreads Link

“Favorite flavor? Well it sure as hell ain’t vanilla. Bend over, Valentine.”

Kate Molina isn’t looking for love; she just needs a reliable contractor to finish her bakery remodel. Hiring the bad-boy convict who broke her heart? Definitely not part of the plan. So what if he’s the only guy who ever gave her the big O, and—ugh, fine—even hotter than she remembered? Toe-curling orgasms aside, it’s way too late to forgive and forget.

If only she could forget the hot slide of his tongue between her thighs…

Eight years ago, Jagger Barnes made the biggest damn mistake of his life, costing him his freedom and the only woman he ever loved. Now out on parole, he’s determined to work hard, stay the f*ck out of trouble, and leave the past behind. But as usual, fate has other plans… starting with his sexy-as-sin, mad-as-hell ex.

One look at Kate’s lush little ass, and Jagger’s more than ready to make up for all those lonely nights…

Love may be naughtier the second time around, but when Cupid takes aim at the reformed bad boy and his sugar-sweet baker, will the arrow finally hit the mark, or is their smoking hot reunion a recipe for disaster?

** A sexy, standalone Valentine’s Day novella with an HFN and no cliffhanger! ** Bad Boy Valentine is part of the Bad Boys on Holiday novella series. Each book is a standalone erotic romance and can be read in any order.

My Opinion  5 STARS
*My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Another hot little number from Sylvia Pierce that will have you turning page after page just waiting to see what happens next.

Kate and Jagger have a past.  A past that hurt Kate when Jagger turned his back on her, however the attraction is still very much there when they meet up again by coincidence eight years later.

Jagger always seems to think not being a part of Kate's life is better for her, however just like at the beginning he never asks her what she feels.  He takes it on himself.

Both characters are hurt, but find that now that they have seen each other, everything crashes back and they cannot be without each other again.

The sex is hot and the past is told so well that you feel as if you have been a part of it.

Another well told novella and I can't wait to see what happens in the next one :)

REVIEW - Play Hardest (Hot for Him #3) by J.T. Fox

The Book
Release Date: February 2016

WARNING: Contains two sexy as sin, filthy-mouthed, dominating, rock hard alpha males. Read at your own risk.

Trusting him is the biggest play he'll ever make...

Jordan Barr is in deep. He can't get Eric off his mind, and he's consumed with wanting the sinfully sexy man. But there's more at stake now than the pro quarterback ever bargained for. It's not just his or Eric's heart or career on the line anymore.

Lives are at stake and their enemies are playing dirty. Both men need to keep their eyes open for a potentially career-ending blitz.

But that's increasingly tough when all Jordan wants to do is screw Eric senseless.

That kind of screwing sounds damn fine to Eric Higgins. He's never wanted anyone the way he wants Jordan, but Eric doesn't know who he can trust anymore.

As their enemies close in and time grows short, he'll have to decide if he's ready to make the biggest play of all and let Jordan into his heart.

My Opinion  5 STARS
This is the last part of the series and it does not disappoint in the slightest.  We get hot action between Eric and Jordan, we finally find out who has been blackmailing them and we find out if they get the happily ever after that they both deserve.

Some of the terminology will be lost on you if you do not follow the sport the character play (like myself) however their profession is only really in the background for most of the series.

I really enjoyed this series and look forward to reading more of this authors works.

REVIEW - King of Me (The King Trilogy #3) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The Book
Release Date: 18 October 2014
Goodreads Link

“You’re asking me to love you?” asked Mia.
He slowly scratched his thick black stubble. “I suppose I am.”

What if you were asked to love the one man on earth you couldn’t trust, you feared, who betrayed you at every turn? Could you do it to save the people you hold dear?

Mia Turner is ready to give it all—her body, her heart, her soul—to the mysterious, ruthless billionaire who holds all the cards to saving her family. But when this dangerous, sinfully sexy man, simply known as King, demands something more, something horrifying, Mia will be forced to face the impossible truth about their lives.

Sometimes the truth brings salvation.  And sometimes the truth breaks you.

My Opinion  5 STARS
This book really made me actually like King.  You really understood what made him and his complete love for Mia.  The woman that he has waited to find for three thousand years.

A lot of this book is based in the long distant past and how that shaped the future for both King and Mia, but for Mack as well.

We get a few surprises, a lot of paranormal shit from King and a HEA ending.

I do still love the way that Mia is no shrinking violet and always tells King her mind, and although at times he gets frustrated with it, you can see his love for her.

Curious to see if we get any more from them now that their tale on getting together is finished.

A NEW, DARK FANTASY FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER, MIMI JEAN PAMFILOFF

King isn’t who she thought. She wasn’t even close...

When Mia Turner’s life becomes tethered to a mysterious billionaire, who she swears is the devil himself, she knows she must break free. It doesn’t matter if everything about him—those sinful lips, those pale gray eyes, that perfect male body—keeps her awake at night. He’s evil. She has to get away.

But when this man, known simply as King, suddenly disappears, Mia will discover she’s not home free. Because without King, she’s no longer safe from his ruthless, depraved, power-hungry social circle.
To survive, Mia will have to conceal King’s absence and walk a mile in the evil man’s twisted, cruel shoes. What she discovers will leave her more terrified and her heart more conflicted than she ever imagined.

King is not who she thought. She wasn’t even close.

My Opinion  5 STARS
The last book ended on a cliff hangar and so does this one.

As in the previous book we do get more questions about King, but a lot of the previous questions are answered.

It's another page turner of a book and is much darker, purely because Mia herself goes through a transformation and finds herself doing this that only a month or two ago she would have balked at.

Mack is in this one a little more and at times we get to see a softer side, we also get know a little more about what happened to him.

As always when King is involved we never get the full picture, we only get what is spoon fed to us, thereby never really leaving us able to guess what is going to happen next.

The story certainly leaves us with more of a tease, so i'm now off to buy the next one :)

When Mia Turner’s brother goes missing in Mexico, while on an archaeological dig, she believes that life couldn’t get much worse. But when she’s blocked at every turn from finding answers, by both local and U.S. authorities, she must turn to a man she swears is the devil.

Others might be fooled by his private jet, fine tailored suits, and disarming smile, but Mia knows something dark, sinister, and unnatural lurks behind those penetrating, pale-gray eyes. And the more she learns, the more she realizes she may never be free again.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Mimi Jean Pamfiloff for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a dark book full of intrigue and mystery and often leaves you with more questions than answers.  However you cannot help but fall into the story head first and find yourself wrapped up ignoring everything else.

Mia Turner is a strong woman, never afraid to say what she thinks and when she meets King she is one of the only ones who intriegues him as she constantly disobey's him and tells him what she thinks.

King as a very strong alpha male who oozes mystery and power, the man has endless resources and some very loyal employees at his disposal.

Mia love for her brother goes to deep lengths throughout the story getting her through some tough times, but you kind of wish that her brother had a little more of a spine.

Certainly a series i'm going to remember.
