REVIEW - Schooled (Taboo 101, #1) by Havana Scott

The Book
Release Date: 1 April 2017
Goodreads Link

I’ve never had the Big O.

Not with a bad boy. Not with a good guy. Not on a train. Not in the rain. Not with a pillow, shower massager, pocket rocket, XL extra-veined d*ldo, Ben-Wa balls, rabbit thruster, diamond glider, bionic bullet, remote control vibrating panties—nothing.

You can say I’m frustrated.

So when I enroll in Human Sexuality my sophomore year, it’s with the hope that I might discover what I’m doing wrong. Turns out it’s who I’m NOT doing that’s the problem.

He walks into the classroom—trimmed pants, tight ass, folded-up sleeves, wide chest, blue eyes, Clark Kent glasses. Older. Hot. I pray to the climax gods that he sit next to me and become my new study buddy. Instead, he sets his briefcase down and begins to write on the board in big bold letters: Dr. MacKenzie -- “Welcome to Human Sexuality 101.”

And I’ve never loved college more. Teach me, Professor. I’m listening.

** This younger woman/older man standalone in the Taboo 101 Novels does not contain cheating. It does, however, contain an HEA and will melt your panties off. You have been warned.

My Opinion  5 STARS

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Sabine is a 20 year old student who took human sexuality in college for one purpose only.  To figure out why she has never been able to orgasm yet.

When her current teacher is taken ill and replaced by the uber hot Dr Liam MacKenzie the whole class takes a different turn and Sabine finds herself pulled into an attraction that is instantly felt by both of them.

The chemistry between the two leaps of the pages and the sex scenes scorch the pages they are that hot.  Liam gives Sabine private lessons in order that she can let go and discover herself better, however both learn things from the other and it is Liam that ends up having to learn the most.

A really hot, fast paced read that had me turning page after page until i realised that the book was, unfortunately, finished.

I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

REVIEW - Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny (Taking Shots #4) by Cindi Madsen

The Book
Release Date: 8 May 2017
Goodreads Link

Confession #1: I used to be a puck bunny, but after a hockey player broke my heart, I gave up all things hockey. Now I'm just focused on finding a way to pass my math class so I can graduate college.

Confession #2: Ryder "Ox" Maddox's deep, sexy voice sends fuzzy tingles through my entire body, and I'm powerless to stop it. Which is a big problem since the hot, surprisingly funny hockey player is my new math tutor.

Confession #3: I can't stop thinking about how ripped Ryder is from all his hockey training, and how fun it'd be to cross lines with him.

Confession #4: I kissed a hockey player and I liked it.

Confession #5: If I'm not careful, I might relapse and fall for Ryder, and then I'll be totally pucked.

My Opinion  3.5 STARS

This book is told from both points of view and is the forth book in the series, however as i have not read any of the other books can confirm that it can be read as a stand alone book.

Lindsey has been hurt by a former boyfriend and has therefore sworn off Hockey players (a kryptonite of hers) and it seems of having fun.  After a year and with Ryder thrown into the mix, her resolve starts to unravel.

Ryder may be a few years younger than her, but he makes up for it in other ways, and when he has his sight set on something, he usually gets it, and he WANTS Lindsey.

Its a fun read, that had me smiling often and really feeling sorry for Lindsey when things go a little pear shaped.

Another sports romance  that seems to have become a favourite of mine.

REVIEW - Down to Puck (Buffalo Tempest Hockey #2) by Sylvia Pierce

The Book
Release Date: 19 April 2017
Goodreads Link

“No touching, beautiful. I warned you. Tonight, I’m only using my mouth.”

As the NHL’s sexiest, surliest bad boy, Kyle “Henny” Henderson basically wrote the book on awkward morning-afters. But nothing prepares him for the hat trick of waking up naked, hungover, and hard as hell with his face between a luscious pair of breasts he doesn’t recognize…

Because those soft, oh-so-lickable curves belong to his completely off-limits best friend.

After a devastating breakup, Bex Canfield moved home to Buffalo to put her life back together, not cause another train wreck. But that was before. Before the hockey fight that led to Henny’s suspension that led to the tequila that led to… Oh, God.

Bedroom? Trashed. Dignity? Obliterated. Best friend? He’s… wow. Seriously packing.

Looks like last night was one to remember, but neither of them has a clue what happened. So maybe they should try it one more time—sober—just to get it out of their systems. Okay, two more. Three tops. Because nothing says train wreck like a wild, uninhibited, toe-curling, wall-banging sexcapade with your oldest friend…

Except for maybe falling in love.

Down to Puck is a hilarious best-friends-to-fuck-buddies-to-enemies-to-lovers standalone hockey romance that’s so hot, when it’s over, YOU’LL need a cigarette!

I loved these characters!

The autor manages to put enough sass and humour into the book that you can't help but fall for the characters and really hope that they get the happy ever after that they deserve.

We meet Henny initially in the first book of the series, Naughty or Ice, however we get to see the devoted friend with a brilliant sense of humour in this book along with strong loyalty.

Bex is a strong character, but both have issues that they need to resolve before they can finally set themselves free.

Another awesome read in the series.

REVIEW - The List by Alice Ward

The Book
Release Date: 24 April 2017
Goodreads Link

We love the chase, thrive on the hunt, but hate the entanglement. So we created The List.

The List - a top secret database of New York’s hottest women. As one of four entrepreneur billionaires who devised it, I live by its rules.

The formula is simple. If any of us sleeps with a girl, we are obligated to add her name, address, and kinks to The List. When another one of us has an urge for a certain type of woman, we simply pull up the list, make a selection, and find our prey.

It sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Well, for years it has been.

But now something’s different.

Riley Carson is different. The soft brunette has woken a part of me I didn’t know existed, a part of me that could be dangerous.

I don’t do girlfriends, but for the first time in my life, I’ve met a woman I don’t want to put on The List. A woman I want to keep to myself.

I have new desires. New cravings. New problems, like betrayal, or even worse, exposure.

Our wealth and reputations are on the line. A scandal would ruin us all.

Riley Carson may very well be our downfall... mine, most of all.

My Opinion  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

There were big parts of this book that i liked, but there were parts that just did not feel right to me.

Xavier for instance took far too long to work out what he was doing wrong and to make the changes required.  He also had self-rightousness to him that wasn't for me.

Riley gave into him too easily and when she did develop a backbone it was all of a sudden and completely different to the woman she was.

The story is fast paced and has some good supporting characters along with some characters that you can get behind and hate.

Not sure if i will read this book again.

REVIEW - The Billionaire's Virgin (Billionaire Fairytales #1) by Jackie Ashenden

The Book
Release Date: 10 January 2017
Goodreads Link

Dark, tortured, and intimidating, these dominant billionaires will steal their innocent heroines' breath away. Overwhelmed by their desire to control their world, they push their heroines to explore their deepest desires. But even the most unworldly of heroines can unlock these billionaires' secrets.

Xavier De Santis: Disgraced. Ruinous. Playboy.

The headlines are always shouting about Xavier’s various excesses, and he’s everything they say he is. But now he’s gone too far, and the black sheep of the De Santis family has been ordered to clean up his image. Volunteering at a homeless shelter, he sees a bright light amidst all the bleakness. An angel whose luminous face and tragic beauty call to him in ways he can’t explain.

Mia: Vulnerable. Homeless. Virgin.

When the shelter Mia calls home closes, she is left with nowhere to go - nowhere except for the luxurious, glorious palace of a home that Xavier De Santis has invited her to stay. This too-handsome billionaire is dark, dangerous - and also too good to be true. But surely Mia can indulge in her fantasies and escape the drudges of her daily life for just one night?

As one night turns into two, Mia knows that eventually, the magic will end and she will have to return to her life of hardship. She can't keep the beautiful clothes. She can't keep the soft bed. And most of all, she can't keep the hard, handsome, brutal man who makes her crave his touch with every breath she takes. Mia doesn't belong in his world. But as Xavier tempts his rags-to-riches heroine with exquisite pleasure and heady desire, Mia doesn't stand a chance but to surrender completely to him.

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This was very well written and i could completely feel Mia's emotions and totally felt like she was a true homeless person living behind a dumpster.

Xavier was a character that you can totally not like, but be ok with that as he does eventually come good in the end.  It takes Mia to change him from rich spoiled brat into a man who can think better of others in need.

Looking forward to reading all the other books in the series.

REVIEW - Staying For Good (Most Likely To #2) by Catherine Bybee

The Book
Release Date: 24 January 2017
Goodreads Link

Zoe Brown may have been voted Most Likely to Never Leave River Bend, but the paper-thin walls and suffocating air of her family’s double-wide trailer were not what she wanted for her life. Other than BFFs Melanie and Jo, the only thing that kept Zoe sane during high school was her boyfriend, Luke.

She didn’t just leave, she escaped—turning her back on the shame of her black-sheep siblings and imprisoned dad. Now a celebrity chef in Dallas, she can afford all the things she never could have growing up. But when she returns to rustic, ruggedly beautiful River Bend, Zoe has to face all that she abandoned—including Luke.

While Luke was a refuge for Zoe in the past, he knows they inhabit totally different worlds now. Anchored by his parents and his job as a mechanic in his father’s shop, Luke never felt the urge to leave River Bend—until Zoe’s return.

But when the two rekindle their old flame, Zoe is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: remain in River Bend and confront her past before it destroys her, or say good-bye to everyone she’s ever loved…again, this time for good.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I REALLY enjoyed reading Zoe and Luke's second chance romance, but even in book one we knew that forces were really strong between them and it would not be long before they ended up together.

We get some dramatic events in this book, just like the first and again it keeps you in suspense as you never quite know how events are going to collide until in happens.

Zoe has a lot of sass and ambition, but it is only when Luke finally shows up in Texas she realises just how much she has missed him and finds her choices and wants changing.

Although the past catches up with Zoe, it is Luke and her friends that pull her through it all and keep her the strong person that she is.

I loved how Luke decided that he was finally willing to up his roots to find a home wherever Zoe was and that he made sure that he was sure and steady and just what she needed.

Another brilliant and must read from Catherine Bybee.

Release Date: May 22, 2017

When the family dog trots in with my diaphragm in its mouth—in front of my date, his parents, and his adorable little girl—you would think I’d hit rock bottom.

WRONG.

Let’s back this up a sec…

Brendan Daniels is the sexiest man alive. The captain of the Badger’s NHL team is also clever, kind, funny, and was my good friend…until we cruised out of the friend zone one weekend with a red-hot fling. Come Monday morning, I wanted to keep riding the Big O train to happy town, but Brendan wanted someone who was “stepmom” material.

A.K.A, not me, apparently.

The problem? I’m crazy in love with him and his daughter. So when he asks me to be his pretend girlfriend for a long weekend with his former in-laws, I say yes. We’re still friends, after all, and friends don’t let friends fake it alone.

***

Laura Collins is the last woman I should be thinking about taking in the back seat of my car, in the woods behind my in-laws’ house, or in a hotel room where we’re sharing one very small, very squeaky bed.

I need a steady, stable influence for my daughter, not a fling with this too wild, too young, too impulsive red head. So what if she’s beautiful and intense and passionate and has the biggest heart I’ve ever known?

I don’t want to fall in love. I really don’t. The whole “pretend girlfriend” thing was supposed to solve my problems, buy me a little more time.

But when it comes to Laura?

Hell, maybe I’m just not cut out for faking it.

I hate my new roommate.

And I want to do dirty, delicious things to her in that swing she installed that we both know has nothing to do with aerial yoga.

Neither of which is good, considering Diana Daniels is my NHL team captain’s little sister, and he will break my face if I’m not a perfect gentleman.

I try to be. Really, I do. But when Diana runs screaming down the hall wearing nothing but a damp washcloth, all my gentlemanly intentions go out the window. She’s got all sorts of Jedi mind tricks to make a man obsessed with getting her into bed, and I’m not gonna lie—I fall for every single one of them.

Especially the one where she warns me not to fall for her.

***

Everyone knows that banging your new roomie is a bad idea. And if it wasn’t for his sister’s stupid pet pig, Wanda, chasing me out of the bathroom mid-shower, Tanner Nowicki and I might still be able to pretend we hate each other.

But that pig totally has it out for me, and before I can warn Tanner that I don’t do relationships—or hockey players or my brother’s friends, for that matter—he’s doing me. Against the wall. And in his bed. And in my bed. And on a pinball machine where we get an all time high score.

And it’s so incredible that I start to forget that I’m the unluckiest woman alive when it comes to relationships. And pigs. And aerial yoga. And worst of all, love.

But hey, it’s not like I didn’t warn him…

Janie is on holiday as her ex is getting married to her former best friend where she accidentally bumps into Blaine Galloway.

Janie gets flustered, but does not know who Blaine is which is something Blaine is not used too and finds very refreshing.

Both keep little secrets but are otherwise themselves and find themselves find the best out of their current situations.

We do of course get our happy ending when Blaine realises that he has been an idiot and decides he wants to fight for her.

It good writing and you get a good sense of what Thailand can be like and the beauty there along with the fascinating places to see.

It's certainly a fun read and Janie says some things that had me laughing out loud.  I would certainly read this again.

Her mother used to say you can feel the truth in your throat. Maybe when her story is finally told, she'll be able to breathe again.

Cade comes back to his hometown for a break, barely holding on to the fraying edges of his true-crime writing career. He needs to write another book, and it needs to be a success. When he meets Holly, he knows there's a great story hiding beneath her haunting beauty and her complete isolation. He's going to be the one to tell that story.

Even if he breaks both of their hearts in the process.

My Opinion  3 STARS

I really struggled to get into this book and it is darker and perhaps a little gritty the the authors normal books.

I'm not sure if its because i am newly pregnant, but i took me days to read a book that would normally take just the one.

I just could not relate to either of the characters even though the story was full and kept me guessing until near the end of the book.

REVIEW - Somewhere Only We Know by Jessie Evans

The Book
Release Date: 5 April 2017

Wanted: One fresh start. Must include LOTS of wine, and maybe, just maybe, one old flame…

The last time I was in St. Helena, I made a pact with the sexiest man alive, at least as far as twenty-two year old me was concerned. If in five years Cash Donaldson and I hadn’t met our perfect matches, we would meet on April Fool’s Day and give love a second chance.

But we were young, the promise was made in the heat of the moment, and I’m perfectly okay with Cash not showing up at our secret hideout come April 1st.

Or so I tell myself…

But when I run into my old flame on my first day back in town, I’m thrilled. So thrilled that I pounce on him like a maniac and kiss him senseless first, and realize he has completely forgotten about our bargain only after I’ve made a fool of myself.

***

I admit it, I forgot about the deal I made with Sadie.

I could make excuses, but none of them would be valid. Because I meant every word of that promise five years ago, and now that I’m older and wiser I realize I never should have let her go.

Now that Sadie’s back in my sights, I’m not giving up on our second chance without a fight. I’ll show her that I still know how to make her smile, make her laugh, and make her melt every time we touch.

I’m in it to win the girl, but there’s a chance I’ll end up alone, wishing she were here with me in the place that only we know.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I absolutely love this author.

Cash and Sadie really were perfect for each other and i just could not help myself from turning page after page after page.  To be honest, i was disappointed when it finished as i just wanted to read more.  It was a brilliant story.

Its sweet, its flirty and just what you come to expect from Jessie.  In other words a book that will leave you feeling happy and sorry that it had to end.

Second chances can mean getting happy ending.

The NHL's biggest bad boy is about to fall for the virgin next door…

I am the world’s biggest dating failure. We’re talking my last date went home with our waitress kind of failure.

But I have an ace in the back pocket of my mom jeans—my sexy-as-sin best friend, NHL superstar forward, Justin Cruise.

Justin owes me favors dating back to seventh grade, long before he became a hotshot with a world famous…stick. So in return for my undying platonic loyalty, all I want is an easy-peasy crash course on how to be a sex goddess.

How hard can it be?

I have never been so hard in my life.

The things I want to do to my sweet, kindergarten-teaching, mitten-crocheting best friend Libby Collins are ten different kinds of wrong. Maybe twenty.

But I’m a firm believer in teaching by example, and by the end of our first lesson, we’ve graduated to a hands on approach to her sexual education: my hands all over her, her hands all over me, and her hot mouth melting beneath mine as I prove to her there isn’t a damned thing wrong with the way she kisses.

Give me a month, and I’ll transform Libby from wall flower to wall banger, and ensure she’s confident enough to seduce any guy she wants.

Problem is… the only guy I want her seducing is me.

This is the first sports romance by Lili Valente and she knocks it out of the park (or should i say off the ice).

One ice hockey star and a woman who he has been friends for since she was thirteen, yes please !!

Libby and her sister are Justin's best friends, however he and the younger sister Libby seem to have a closer bond and can talk about anything.  It is because of this that Libby asks for his help in attracting a man as she has no confidence in this area.

Very quickly things take a turn that neither of them expect and the heat starts to roll of the pages as both characters pick up their cues from each other and Libby finds a side of her that she has never found or experienced before.

We get introduced to one of Justin's colleagues and Libby's sister of whom the next book will be for, however all the books can be read as stand alone and their are no cliff hangars.

I seriously cannot wait until the next book is out.
