REVIEW - My Big Fat Bloodsucker Wedding by Bella Jacobs

The Book
Release Date: 8 February 2022

It’s all fun and games…until you stake your sister’s fiancĂ©.

Okay, fine! I’m not really going to stake Colin or his brother, the insufferable, bossy-fanged Darcy Blackmore. At least not as long as I can find another way to stop our siblings from getting hitched.

My sister, Lizzy, won’t admit it, but she doesn’t love Colin. She’s sacrificing herself so we can stay in Nightfall, New Hampshire, and renew the magical shield keeping the paranormal creatures here, including witches like us, safe from human discovery.

I have ten days to find another way—aside from a bloodsucker wedding—to secure our legacy and not a lead in sight. So, imagine my surprise when the wretched, though admittedly smoking hot, Darcy comes to the rescue.

His scheme?
We pretend to be hot for each other, trick Lizzy and Colin into confessing they don’t really want to tie the knot, and sort out how to save the town once the wedding bells are silenced—permanently.

It’s not a bad plan. In theory.
If only Darcy wasn’t every bit as delicious as he is obnoxious. If only he’d kept his secret sweet side under wraps and kissing him wasn’t the most amazing thing to happen to my lips in my entire life. If only this fake love had stayed fake, instead of creeping into my heart on stealthy little vampire feet.

Now I have a decision to make—keep faking it with the world’s sexiest vampire until I lose big at love, yet again, or leave my new hometown and all the people I’m coming to love behind. Forever.

There is lots to smile about when you get a Bella Jacobs book, good writing, brilliant characters and a story that just draws you further into the page the more you read.

This book was brilliant and I loved the two main characters Blaire (f) and Darcy (m).  Blaire is a witch that only recently found out about her heritage when her grandmother died and left her and her sisters the family house.  The oldest wonderfully sister is also required to marry a town elder in order to keep the shield that protects the village going.

Blaire is a strong character and had to learn to do handy work in order to help look after her family, their own and earn income when their mother often left them to look after themselves.

Darcy is a vampire that has been alive for a few hundred years and lost his wife and children when he was unable to go back from being turned.  Although he has had trysts he has never loved again, but with Blaire around he is tempted on so many more levels than he thought possible.

There are good supporting characters and a few on the bad side that give us people to dislike and lots of feels for our good guys.

I am also now looking forward to seeing what happens between Annie and Baron after the ending and hoping we get a book for all of the Wonderfully sisters!

REVIEW - Deal With The Devil (Purgatory #4) by Cynthia Eden

I have enjoyed this series and I this book we get to meet a new species and character in Ella.  Ella was a captive in the last book that managed to get free when the lab was on fire and Connor set her free.  Since then she has been in the custody of Eric Pate and the Para Unit, but she is not happy about it at all.

Eric is intrigued about Ella and knows she is hiding something, but he is not sure what.  He is also not sure why he is drawn to the woman. Unfortunately he pushes Ella a little too far and her hidden side comes out.

But when someone from Ella's past rocks up, he pushes both Ella, but especially Eric as he finally ends up letting his monster out and it is only Ella that is able to calm him and bring him back.

It was good to see the normally unflappable Eric fighting to stay in control and for his emotions to be let free more.

I have enjoyed this series and I am seriously kicking myself for having this sit on my kindle for so long.

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a Surprise Baby Romantic Comedy, BABY, PLEASE.

SURPRISE! IT’S A GIRL!

DEAN

Ever since I was recruited by my college football team, I’ve pushed myself hard. Going pro and earning some real money is a must. Mostly because my brother, Flip, is in a bad place, and I’m all he’s got.

No problem. I’m tough. I’m a hard worker. I’ve got a plan.

Then right before the season starts, a woman shows up at my apartment with a baby, claiming I’m the father. And then she leaves her with me. For a week? Forever?

I have no idea, but college, football, and the single-dad gig don’t go together. And forget about my experience with babies. Does this thing come with an off switch? Volume control? Is that a poopie diaper? Help!

Things go from bad to worse when the public catches wind of my surprise-baby situation, and it turns into a PR nightmare. I’m suddenly the poster boy for young single dads.

This isn’t happening.

Suddenly, all eyes are on me, both on and off the field, and the only person who can keep me from losing my mind confesses her love.

And I mess it all up. Her, football, baby, everything.

Now I’m going to have to choose: fix my career or fix my personal life, including coming to grips with loving a baby girl who might not be mine.

We are back with the HellNo series and I could not be happier. We get to a little of a character in the previous book, however this book mainly stays focused on the main man, Dean and the woman that surround him.

Dean is a man that has clawed his way up from nothing since he was little and looked after not only himself but his little brother.  Nothing much good has every happened to him and he lives has life getting from one goal to another.

When a baby lands on his doorstep, even though he is still young at 22, he steps up to the plate and looks after her, even though the little girl could not be his.

In this book Dean grows even more and is able to love and get help where he needs it.  He also learns to fight for what he wants, not just what he needs.

I loved Dean and Lara in this book and I hope that Deans brother Flip will also get a happy ever after now that he has fought to become clean and a better man himself.

Cannot wait for the next Mini book and to see where she inserts herself into the book :)

**My thanks to Netgalley and the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

In this book continuing the Purgatory series we have Connor protecting the late Senators daughter Chloe, however things never go simply in these kinds of stories.

Chloe hates her father, a man that subjected her to all sorts of tests and probing after she was attacked by werewolves when she was 16.  A life that she hated although she never really knew what the man was up to.

Connor is a hybrid, half werewolf and half vampire and is very dangerous, he does not let his beast out completely to play anymore as it is so dangerous.  But there is something about Chloe.  Something that brings out another side of him and something he has to protect no matter what.  She also connects with his about things he could never imagine.

Chloe is sick of being afraid and starts to stand up for herself and those she cares about, Connor is one of those and Chloe shows more of a backbone in this book.

I really enjoyed this instalment and at the end it certainly sets up nicely for the start of the next book for Eric and Ella, the female vampire they rescue.

Dr Olivia Maddox has interview lots of psychopaths in her career hoping that she can find out why they do what they do and if she is able to help them in the future.  Now Olivia wants to go to purgatory, a place so dangerous the humans do not know about it.  It is a maximum security prison for the supernatural who have gone bad.  Werewolves and Vampires who kill for the love of it.

Shane is an FBI agent undercover on his way to purgatory as a prisoner to see what is happening on the island that houses the prison.  On the boat ride over is when he first meets Olivia and he knows from the beginning that he is going to have to protect her.

As you would expect, things take a turn that Olivia did not expect and even though she believes at first that Shane is a prisoner, she does not know who else she can trust on the island.  Shane has to blow his cover to protect her.

Off island things get interesting and she learns more of her heritage along that sometimes people are not who you thought they were.  Shane ends up saving her in more ways than one and she makes a big transformation.

Its a fast paced novel based in the modern world, and puts in lots to keep you captivated and certainly takes you along for the ride.

REVIEW - April May Fall (Mommy Wars #3) by Christina Hovland

 The Book

Release Date: 26 October 2021

Goodreads Link

The hilarious new stand-alone romantic comedy perfect for any mom who’s tried to have it all.

“I don’t think I have laughed out loud so much at a book while at the same time - felt so emotionally connected to the characters.” -This Book, That Life

April Davis totally has her life in order. Ha! Not really. Yes, she’s the Calm Mom—a social influencer with a reputation for showing moms how to stay calm and collected through yoga—but behind the scenes, she’s barely holding it all together. Raising tiny humans alone is exhausting, but that’s just the chewed-up cherry on the melted sundae of her life. Her kids aren’t behaving, her husband left her for his skydiving instructor, and her top knot proves she hasn’t showered in days.

Then a live video of the “always calm” April goes viral...and she’s most definitely not. Enter Jack Gibson, April’s contact at the media conglomerate that has purchased April’s brand. The too-sexy-for-his-own-good Jack will help clean up April’s viral mess, and even work with her to expand her influence, but toddler tea parties and a dog with a penchant for peeing on his shoes were definitely not part of the deal.

Now April’s calm has jumped ship quicker than her kids running from their vegetables. Not to mention, the sparks flying between her and Jack have her completely out of her depth. Forget finding her calm—April’s going to need a boatload of margaritas just to find her way back to herself again.

Each book in the Mommy Wars series is STANDALONE:

* Rachel, Out of Office
* There's Something About Molly
* April May Fall
* Everything’s Fine, Emmaline

This is the third book in the series and it does not disappoint and we even get to see a little of some of the other characters in the other books too.

April is a single mother whose husband left her after a mid life crisis and she is still picking up the pieces while looking after her three kids, the house and her career.

As a MyTube creator, she has a platform where she teaches calm mummies and yoga, however on a live episode, things take a wrong turn.  Her friend Rachels brother is her manager and he ends up flying in to do damage control and things soon heat up with the chemistry between them.

Jack has never really been in a relationship and at first things happen slowly, until he finds that actually he is in love with April, but she only sees him as temporary.  It is his job to fix things and he does this very well with all his clients and knows that April just needs her confidence back, and he certainly manages to let her find it again.

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see how the last book in the series ends.
