REVIEW - The Traitor (Fire's Edge #5) by Abigail Owen

The Book
Release Date: 16 August 2021

Decades ago, rogue dragon shifter Rune Abaddon took a stand against the decaying, corrupt systems governing their people. He now uses his bad-ass reputation to protect the innocent as it all comes crashing down. But he’s pushed the limits one too many times. His hideout is destroyed, his few allies are scattered and hiding, and the Alliance has placed a dead-or-alive bounty on his head, making him the most wanted dragon in the western hemisphere.

And then the most enticing woman he’s ever met barges into his mountain, demanding an audience.

Hadyn Reece’s future was ripped away long ago. The man fated to be her mate was murdered alongside her parents before Hadyn was old enough to be turned, leaving her to be raised and trained by her dead mate’s parents in the dragon shifter world. Now, the Alliance has come for the only family she has left. It’s a good thing she was raised by dragons, because the only one who can help her save them is a traitor she’d be smart to fear.

Especially when his dragon decides she’s theirs.

My Review    5 STARS
In the final book of this series we finally have Rune Abandon getting a happy ending after being the one saving mates from the mating council and knowing before most that things were wrong and needed changing.

Hadyn found out that she was a Dragon Mate when she was really young with a rogue dragon male, however he was killed when she was still young along with her parents, so her mates parents took her in and have raised her as a daughter ever since.  Therefore she knows much more about Dragons than most Dragon mates and takes things much better when she finally tracks Rune down when needing his help and they have to run.

Rune is amazed at how strong and resilient Hayden is and finds his protective side coming out strong than it ever has before with any other Dragon mate.  He ends up asking his old team for help in rescuing Haydens parents.

We see the previous members  and their mates, there is more death, support of team members and a happier ending to the war in the Americas with the Alliance and the Alaz team.

This series ties into the Inferno Rising series and both are intertwined and go along side with each other.  It was good to see small parts of the other series come into this one.

I have really enjoyed this series and will continue to read this authors books.

REVIEW - The Protector (Fire's Edge #4) by Abigail Owen

The Book
Release Date: 7 December 2020

The cousin of the High King, Lyndi Chandali has lived with the constant threat of being pawned off as a political prize. A rare, female-born dragon like Lyndi can’t truly mate—not in the way it counts. Which is why she's kept her distance from a certain sinfully delicious Beta. Instead, she's built a life for herself giving orphaned dragons in the Americas a home.

As Beta of his team of enforcers, Levi Rowtag is a fighter first, last, and always. His job is to protect—his team, the shifters in his territory, and the stubborn woman hell-bent on fighting with him at every turn. He knows from the moment they first meet what she’ll never accept—they are destined to be mated.

But with the kings at war, the enemy is now coming for Lyndi. Worse, he’s coming for her orphans, too. He’ll have no choice but to defy his king and go rogue if he has any hope of protecting them all...and finally claiming his mate.

My Review    5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

In the continuation of the series, although each book can be read as a stand alone book if you want, we get two characters who we have been introduced to from book one coming together as forces out of their control make them admit their feelings for each other.

Levi is the Beta of the team of enforcers and ever since he first met Lyndi 200 years ago when she arrived with her brother Drake, he has wanted her but always thought that she hated him.  He has always tried to protect her, even if it seemed like he was interfering or it seemed that he didn't trust her.

Lyndi has always wanted Levi, but she too thought that he hated her from the beginning and has always pushed him away, even if in her dreams she wants him.  She know however that if she even lets herself want him they will never be able to have children as natural female born dragons are sterile.  Something that pains her greatly, but she has her orphans and rogues who are her children.

Brand Asterot the Gold Clan King however calls all loyal Gold dragons home and this is a catalyst for our pair.  They have a week together before Levi has to leave.  But the Alaz leader puts a spanner in the works when he arrives and states that the Alliance have agreed that he can have Lyndi as a mate.

We see more of Deep, and other Enforcer members and their mates, we get to see another village of dragons which they help and an almighty fight that has them meeting a new friend and the loss of a member.

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read Rune's story.

REVIEW - The Enforcer (Fire's Edge #3) by Abigail Owen

The Book
Release Date: 9 December 2019

Death comes for everyone. Even Drake Chandali. The aging process that twists all unmated dragon shifters’ bodies into something useless has taken hold of his body centuries early. A mate could have reversed the process, but now it’s too late. To protect his team of enforcers, he leaves, and comes face to face with the woman he’d thought was human when he saved her from a fire months before.

Except she’s not human. She’s a mate.

Camilla Carrillo almost lost her family to wildfire. To discover she’s fated to mate a creature made of flame and rage, and become one herself, should be terrifying. But somehow a rightness settles inside her, especially when she’s around the glowering red dragon shifter who wants nothing to do with her.

When Drake learns Cami bears his mark—the same mark as the High King—he refuses to believe she’s meant to be his. It’s too late. How could he turn Cami only to take her with him to the grave? At the same time, he can’t walk away. Hiding her from the corrupt, rotting High King might be the last honorable thing Drake ever does with the little time he has left.

Each book in the Fire's Edge series is a STANDALONE:
* The Mate (prequel)
* The Boss
* The Rookie
* The Enforcer

My Review    5 STARS
In this book of the series we finally get Drake's turn to find a mate, and happy lady Cami who likes to talk is the perfect fit for stoic little talker Drake.

We get more action from the team as they fight fires, we see more of Rune and his rescued mates and the Alaz team show their real colours to the team and the Alliance interfere with the running of things.

Cami is a strong character, very family orientated with strong beliefs.  Cami is the only person who can tolerate Drake when Rune brings him into his caves as he leaves his team in order to die quietly away from them.  However, with the nearness of Cami, Drake starts to feel and get better, not that he notices at first.

When Cami decides she has to go back home to help her family, Rune and Skylar, Cami's friend, engineer it that Drake will find Cami as she tries to leave and get Drake to volunteer to be her bodyguard until he dies.

Of course there are complications and Drake finds he and his Dragon want more from Cami, but he can't.  Not until he finds that her touch is what is helping him back to a place he has not felt in years and especially when he finds that the Alaz team is after her.

Really enjoyed this book and meeting new family members and getting more from previous team members, their mates and other members yet to get their own stories.

REVIEW - The Mate (Fire's Edge #0.5) by Abigail Owen

The Book
Release Date: 17 September 2018

Maddie Thompson’s life just fell down a rabbit hole. Finding out she's a dragon shifter was one thing — she never quite fit into the human world, and this new reality feels… strangely right. However, discovering the next step is to choose a mate, and if she chooses wrong she'll die, is the other side of crazy. Especially when she already left a piece of her heart with someone who didn't want it.

To say dragon enforcer Fallon Conleth was shocked when the Mating Council summoned him as a potential mate for a newly found dragon doesn’t quite cover it. A mate is rare and precious and many dragons never find theirs. Fallon isn’t sure he’s worthy of the honor, not when so many deserve it more. He’ll just go through the motions and return home alone… until he sees Maddie. The human woman he reluctantly let walk away.

Fallon already broke Maddie's heart once, but if he can't convince her that they're meant to be, she'll die... and he won't be far behind.

A prequel to the scorching paranormal romance, The Boss, released September 24th, 2018.

My Review     5 STARS
This is a short novella to begin the series.

Fallon is in France as he has been elected with other Blue clan members as a Dragon mate has been found, only it is a woman he met in America and he has not forgotten her, especially as she left suddenly.

Lots happens in just a small space and we are introduced to Fallon's brother Finn and his teammates in America along with his love rival Cole and the new King of the Blue clan Ladon Omarr.

Fallon has to convince his mate to choose him while others battle for her heart, then he has to battle to keep her safe along with respecting her wishes.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

REVIEW - The Rookie (Fire's Edge #2) by Abigail Owen

The Book
Release Date: 22 April 2019

To escape exile, Aidan Paytah has had to prove himself worthy. Every second of every damn day. He fought with everything he had to earn his precarious place on the Huracán team of dragon shifter enforcers. He can't fail or afford distractions, no matter how temptingly sweet. Total loyalty to the clans and dedication to his team is the only way.

Sera Morrison lost her parents and her husband in short order, leaving her a single mother running her family winery alone. Nothing could ever have prepared her for the discovery that she's a destined dragon mate. But once she finds out, there's only one man she wants--the one who walks away.

However, the Alliance Council has its own agenda. They want to use her as a political pawn and force a mating that could ultimately kill her to save the High King. Aidan has no choice but to kidnap her, even if it means their close proximity reinforces their own mating bond. And mating with him could end up being a far worse fate for Sera....

Opps.  Although this is the third book in the series, this book can totally be read as a stand alone book.  Although I am still going to go back and read the missed books as I like this author so much.

We get a great connections between our pair of main characters and the side characters are well fleshed out and certainly add to the story.

Sera is a strong female character who has been through loss, but has the love for her son keeping her strong and dreams about Aidan, a dragon shifter at night that leave her hot and bothered.

Aiden is trying his best as the Rookie on his team to get a permanent position.  Dreams at night of him and Sera are all he can have of her as her believes that he cannot have Sera especially as he is an Orphaned dragon.

However, when Sera is in trouble and it is found that she is a dragon mate, things come out, especially as she does not just have one brand, but three on top of each other.

We get romance, mystery, thrilling suspense and strong friendship and love along with a great plot line.

My Review   4 STARS
**Copy Provided by NetGalley and Fated Desires for an honest review**

This book contains three fast burning, fast paced stories of tattooed individuals that will steam up your evening.

All of the males are your alpha type man who likes to take charge and all of them give our main characters a second chance at romance and two of the stories the main characters were together in the past.

It was good read, but the stories flew past far too quickly for my liking.
