REVIEW - Kind of a Dirty Talker (The McGuire Brothers #6) by Lili Valente

The Book
Release Date: 26 April 2024

Seven nights, one bed, and the last man I should want to share it with…

I’m a hopeless romantic with a laughably tragic history with the opposite sex.

Wesley’s a dirty talking lawyer with a wickedly talented tongue and a habit of showing up when I need rescuing from my latest bad date.

But he’s also my best friend’s brother and off limits. That one red hot night we spent together was a mistake I’m determined not to make again…

Until one cursed night, when I accidentally ignite a feud with the biggest troublemaker in town and wind up on Wes’s doorstep in a tattered bridesmaid’s dress, needing to get out of town—fast.

Soon, Wes and I are on the run in a borrowed camper van, accompanied by my pet ferret and enough sexual tension to launch us all into outer space.

Even worse?
With every passing mile, he’s proving he truly might be my dream guy.

But will he still want me when he realizes my cursed dating history isn’t the only tragic thing in my past?

As with all of this authors books, you are unable to put this book down until you have finished it.  You are also able to read this book without having read any of the other books in the series.

Tessa and Wesley have been in previous books in in the last book in the series we got to know that Wes had saved Tess while she was on a hike, however the rest of the characters did not know that they had also spent a rather HOT time together.

Eighteen months later we start at the wedding of Aaron and Mel where Tessa's drunk ex starts getting a little handsy and Wes gets a little jealous and possessive causing a little bit of a scene.

With a crazy ex's sister on their case, Wesley and Tessa embark on a Campervan holiday for a few weeks that pulls them together and finally gives them the chance to bond and get physical.  They find out that they have lots in common, his dirty bedroom talking and take charge really turns her on in the bedroom, but they also find what they were missing with previous partners and know that they have FINALLY found their person.

Really loved this book and loved that were introduced to Missy and her love interest.

REVIEW - Alien King Crashes the Wedding (Lumerian Knights #1) by Becca Brayden (Narrated by Teddy Hamilton)

The Book

Art dealer Sasha Montgomery is both nervous and thrilled to be invited to the Caldorian Earth Base for her best friend's wedding to an alien warrior. One, she's never seen an alien up close, and two, she made a promise to be there, no matter how much the idea of being surrounded by hundreds of huge alien warriors frightened her.

She thinks she's got it all under control, until Dagan, the groom's best friend, crashes the wedding. He's smoking hot--way too hot to be an alien--and determined to seduce her. Sasha gives in to passion with unexpected consequences. Ancient power rises in response to their new-found bond, and the once innocent Sasha discovers that Dagan has been keeping secrets. He's not just another warrior, he's a king, and the power rising between them hasn't been seen in a millennium.

I listened to this on Audible as i am using their trial period.

It was narrated by a man and the female side of the story did not sound right being read by a man, but that could just be me not used to listening to stories and prefer reading them.

The plot was ok, but felt rushed as the end.

Lots seemed to happen to our female M/C where she was unaware of what was going to happen next even though her best friend had paired up with another alien male of the same species and she had not been warned of any of it. The male M/C was also unaware that she was in the black and moved forward regardless, especially in the way of claiming her.

This had both characters frustrated and could of course have been mitigated had they actually spent time talking to each other, but they never gave each other time.

An ok listen.

REVIEW - Homestead (Kindled #7) by Claire Kent

The Book
Release Date: 17 May 2024

After losing the last remaining member of my family, I'm left all alone in a dangerous, uncivilized world. A twenty-year-old woman with no skills, no resources, and no protection can't make it on her own after Impact, so I'm forced to rely on the charity of strangers to survive.

My one chance of safety and security comes from an unexpected offer. Jimmy Morgan needs a partner. He wants help in his house and a woman in his bed, and he'd like that partner to be me. In return I get a place to live, plenty of food, and the protection of a competent man and his larger community. It's a good deal, so of course I accept.

It means I have to live with a gruff, stoic man I barely know. All the new chores around the house are difficult enough, but they're not my biggest challenge. Because I'm now Jimmy's woman... whatever that means.

Chloe has been sheltered since before impact when she lived with her preper grandfather after he parents were killed in the rioting before the asteroid hit.  She has had heating, hot water and lots of canned food and only had to do light duties at home as her grandfather was very old fashioned.

However, when they are searching for food one day he is killed by outlaws, but she is saved by Jimmy.  He talks her back to his families homestead where she has to learn to do things in order to keep her place.

Chloe is a fairly strong character but never sees her worth and when Jimmy suggests that she might move in with him to help with his home she agrees.  But she believes that this is purely a transactional relationship with sex.

Jimmy has already lost his wife and is a fairly closed off person, but having Chloe around changes things.  Both grow closer together, Jimmy sees Chloe struggle, but she will say nothing of it and gang members end up threatening their happiness.

We get to see a little more of Cal, Rachel and Mack and a lead up to Mack and Anna's story. FINALLY.

This was a good book with lots of feels, some spice and a happy ever after.

REVIEW - Moonvine (Gold Blood Prophesy #1-4) by K.J. Devoir

The Book
Release Date: 23 February 2024

Amazon Best Selling in "erotic horror" & "vampire suspense," Moonvine includes books 1-4 of the ongoing Gold Blood Prophesy Series by dark romance author K.J. Devoir.

Leena Sperling has fallen into darkness. Darkness has a name...
ZAND BYRON

He’s larger than life. He’s also a deeply dangerous, twisted soul, a textbook psychopath. But, somehow...She makes him

"You can run, Leena. But I will find you."

Leena: When I arrived to the City of Souls, the tiny cemetery town wrapping the Bay Area foothills where Moonvine Manor is located, I had no idea what to expect or how insane my life would become after moving into the former, Queen Anne, funeral home that belonged to my missing sister. I should have known that being greeted by a tombstone-shaped granite welcome sign was either a sick joke or a bad omen. But I could never have predicted that I would fall in love with the darkness.

Zand: I don’t want to ever stop making her cry. Her tears are full of human feelings, and I love the taste. She makes me feel, but part of me wants to end the human in her that brings out the human in me. In a heartbeat, I could make her nightmares infinitely darker. *This is a dark, gothic romance. **My thanks to the author and Hidden Gems for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the first time that I have read anything by this author and I was really impressed by the world building and characters within this story.

Leena is a human who is moving to Moonvine Manor after the death of her older half Sister Rachel through suspicious circumstances.  She is moving there with her mother who has early onset dementia.

Moonvine is not what Leena expects and the groundskeeper And turns out to also be Rachels cousin, but he does not want Leena there at all and is not nice to her on their first meeting.

Zand is not everything that he seems and he has a lot of secrets that could end up hurting Leena  if she stays around and digs into what has happened to her sister.

Mysterious things happen round the manor, keys are missing from Leena's key set and rooms are locked and off limits.  Leena is left clues by Rachel to follow and Zand finds that he cannot keep away from Leena.

There are lots of twists and turns, some of them dark, some of them lighter, but all of them pull you further into the story.

The book ends on a happy ending, however we are led to understand that there is going to be at least another part to the story.

I cannot wait to see what eventually happens with the characters left at Moonvine Manor.
