REVIEW - A Court of Silver Flames (A Court of Thorns and Roses #4) by Sarah J. Maas

The Book
Release Date: 16 February 2021

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

My Review     5 STARS
This review is being written a month after having read the book as I have only just noticed that my previous review did not go through, so nowI have to try and remember how i felt after reading this tome.

I really did enjoy reading this book about Nesta and Cassian.  Nesta certainly came across as a strong individual and is willing to almost sacrifice her own happiness and seem cold and aloof in order to protect her family.  Once she sets her mind on something she certainly accomplishes it and you can see that when she was in the library she made friends by being herself and having patience.  She really achieved something.

Cassian also showed his years as a warrior and as a leader.  He showed great patience with Nesta and the ladies from the library as he taught them self defence with Azriel in a way that had them feeling safe and coming out of the library for the first time in years.

Just like Rhys and Feyre, Nesta and Cassian have great chemistry and they also prove that they will do anything for those that they love and care about.

Tamlin is also seen in this book, but he now comes across as more pathetic and broken.  Nesta's sister Elain and Lucien are also in the book, however their story feels unfinished and they certainly needs a story of their own, especially as mates and the fact they are still apart from each other and not happy.

REVIEW - A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.5) by Sarah J. Maas

The Book
Release Date: 1 May 2018

Feyre, Rhysand, and their friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly altered world beyond, recovering from the war that changed everything. But Winter Solstice is finally approaching, and with it, the joy of a hard-earned reprieve.

Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, her concern for those dearest to her deepens. They have more wounds than she anticipated-scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court.

Bridging the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin with the later books in the series, A Court of Frost and Starlight explores the far-reaching effects of a devastating war and the fierce love between friends.

My Review   4 STARS
This novella is in multiple points of view as after the war we have our family and friends in the period before and up to after the Winter Solstice.

All of them are struggling in their own ways, some are able to talk, others like Nesta are struggling.

We see from Feyre, Rys, Nesta and Cassian along with Mor.  All have their burdens and we get to know a little more about them as people, but mostly we hear from Feyre and Rhys as they navigate ruling and being mates together in the changed world where they both have too much to do.

Rhys is his usual self in that he still has dark days, but he is a never ending support and comfort for Feyre and is there the moment that she may need him.

I enjoyed the complicated web of connection between them all, now Azriel shows his softer side when required and how they have all come together and are such a loving family.

I enjoyed this novella and seeing the characters in much better times and able to enjoy each other.

REVIEW - A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) by Sarah J. Maas

The Book
Release Date: 2 May 2017
Goodreads Link

The epic third novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Court of Thorns and Rosesseries by Sarah J. Maas.

Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin's actions and learn what she can about the invading king threatening to bring her land to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit. One slip could bring doom not only for Feyre, but for everything-and everyone-she holds dear.

As war bears down upon them all, Feyre endeavors to take her place amongst the High Fae of the land, balancing her struggle to master her powers-both magical and political-and her love for her court and family. Amidst these struggles, Feyre and Rhysand must decide whom to trust amongst the cunning and lethal High Lords, and hunt for allies in unexpected places.

In this thrilling third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from Sarah J. Maas, the fate of Feyre's world is at stake as armies grapple for power over the one thing that could destroy it.

My Review   5-6 STARS
This is the first time in a long time that I have had that many feels and that many times when I actually cried with a book.

So much happens.  At first we have Feyre in the heart of the Spring Court, separated from her mate, knowing that she treads a fine line with what she knows she needs to do.  Feyre has to battle what she would rather do and get information, defend against Hyburn invaders as work against a High Priestess who is not the kind person she seems.

We watches she breaks things apart and get what she needs before she manages to escape, however it is not as easy she she thought and she ends up taking a back up route with a tow-way.

Back home with her family and friends they work together towards bringing the other courts together and even go and help when another court is in trouble.  The only court to go and help the other.

Tensions are high and some are happier than others to be there and some seem less willing to help.

Rhys, Feyre and and their family are the main characters doing all they can to gather help and forces in order to beat Hyburn.  Others may come on board, but the Night Court is the driving force of them all.  The leader and Armies that take most change, the Night Court even though the other High Kings come to war and off their aid.

There are so many twists and turns, things happening last minute and so many complicated relationships, so many tangles that you really cannot help but be sucked in to the brilliant world building and character development and the way the characters love and get strength from each other.

The last part of the book is my favourite.  The part that had me almost sobbing.  War is here and all the characters put their all into trying to defeat Hyburn and his army, Fay and human alike.

I ended up with a book headache with this one as I just COULD NOT put this book down.  I had me in its talons almost consumed with it until the last word was read.

REVIEW - A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas

The Book
Release Date: 3 May 2016

The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas's spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses .

Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she's now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people.

As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre's hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.

Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

My Review     5 STARS
I can see why people might both love and hate this book.

This book starts after the ending of the last book snd we have Feyre back at the spring court, however she is massively suffering from PTSD and survivors guilt. Tamlin whoever is also suffering in his own way after having been through so much, however his way to protect Feyre is to keep her within the confined of the palace and its gardens, not wanting anything at all to harm her.

Neither of them talk to each other and this pushes them away, especially as Feyre is having to deal with her new body and the connection with Rhysand.

Once Rhys starts finally appearing to take Feyre to the Winter Court, we start seeing a new Feyre as Rhys brings out her anger, starts her learning her writing and reading and generally getting her out of her head and facing her fears head on and pushing her into situations so she gets stronger and knows that she CAN cope and continue fighting.

Rhys is not the man who we first thought he was, he wears a mask that very few see beneath and we get to know his close friends, his chosen family. We find out more about the other courts and their gifts and the whole book turns as eventually something happens back at the Spring Court that Feyre is rescued and decides not to return back there.

Suddenly Tamlin and the Spring Court are the bad guys and Rhys is one of the good guys.

Feyre does indeed get strong in both mind and body, but Rhys and she both bond with their shared pain and desire to fight hard for their friends and family.

Towards the end of the book we see more of Tamlin and the decisions that he has chosen. With his own PTSD he still loves Feyre, but his love has become blind and toxic and he has made some bad errors. Lucien is still by his side, but now it appears he is starting to question more the blind following.

Again Feyre is put in a hard position where her family are suffering and she has to choose how to be of greater help, giving us more twists and turns as when in the hall of King Hyburn she makes the choice to save her friends and mate with great cost to herself.

I am really looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens next in this saga.

REVIEW - A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses #1) by Sarah J. Maas

The Book
Release Date: 5 May 2015

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he’s not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable read.

My Review   4 STARS
Late to the bandwagon of the ACOTAR series however I am glad that I have finally picked it up.

Feyre is a strong individual.  Having not only faced the loss of her mother, but the los of her family home and fortune, she has kept her mothers promise and kept the family alive by hunting for food and selling fur and other kills to keep pennies in their empty pockets and food in their empty tummies.

Her father, injured by creditors has done little to help her, her sister Nesta always looks down her nose and spends coin fast, her sister Erin is a sweet soul and all protect.

Feyre takes action one day finding a Faerie in the woods going after her mark, a deer that could feed her family for days, so she kills it, skins it and takes home her deer kill, leaving the circus in the woods and sealing her fate.

From there she is thrust into a decision to save her family and abandon everything she knows, having to go to the Fay realm after they come for her.

Tamlin is nothing of what she expects the Fay to be.  She is hard of trusting after having been the protector of her family and at all times she shows her strength, her fortitude and how far she will gp tp protect those that she loves.

I Loved Tamlin and Lucien in this book, I also loved how Alis looked after her and told her what she could.  This is a slow burn relationship, but when Feyre finally realises what Tamlin means to her she fights for him, knowing that her fight could end with her death at the hands of the powerful Fay queen.

Feyre gets the help and support of others in her quest, but sometimes she has to give up parts of herself to do so.

There are twists and turns, real feelings that grab you in the heart and great world building and a strong story that just sweeps you up in the pages.

I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the series and what all the talk is about.

It the last book of the series we get to see why and how Abe and Sarah broke up and the feelings behind it all.

My Review.   5 STARS
Listening to this one we have actress Kit who is in love with her friend Noah, but he has already hurt her heart once. But when Kit comes out to save him one night things change slightly with their relationship.

With Kit having a stalker, her bodyguards remind him of how selfish he was when she put herself in danger to get him and help him out.

Noah ends up staying more and more with each other at her house, however Noah's demons are always present and he believes himself broken, but he cannot give her of her friendship up.

Eventually Noah tells Kit his secret and she does not react like he thought she would, meanwhile he helps her with her stalker and in keeping her safe. He also is instrumental in helping to catch Kits stalker and together they work on their relationship with Noah having the first romantic relationship of his life.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to Abe and sarahs book as we were introduced to them more in this book.

REVIEW - Rock Hard (Rock Kiss #2) by Nalini Singh with Justine O. Keef as Narrator

The Book
Release Date: 10 March 2015

Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he'll go after it no holds barred. And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.

Charlotte knows she's a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO - a brilliant, broad-shouldered T. rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake - clearly has other plans. And these plans may be equal parts business and bedroom.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T. rex. Game on.

My Review   5 STARS
Listening to Gabriel and Charlottes story, this happens around the same time line as book one, however it also continues until after.

Gabriel is the T-Rex that is Charlottes boss and we find out that he has wanted he from the beginning but he is not quite as clear as he thinks.

Charlotte has her own troubled past that has kept her from having any other relationships, especially with men. Gabriel however slowly starts to bring down her walls one by one like peeling back an onion. However sometimes there are tears, and quite often there are flashbacks for charlotte and he helps her through them as best he can.

I loved how Gabriel was willing to go as slow as Charlotte needed and was there for her when she needed him the most.

REVIEW - Rock Courtship (Rock Kiss #1.5) by Nalini Singh with Justine O. Keef as Narrator

The Book

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh's new contemporary romance novella is pure hard rock and scorching heat...

My Review   5 STARS
This story happens alongside Rock Addiction where Thea's half sister gets together with lead singer Fox.

In this novella we get the story of publicist Thea and drummer David and we even get to read the memo's that Molly had suggested that David try in getting his girl. The memo's are funny and witty along with steamy at times.

There is are issues that David has to help Thea over come and there is a plot twist that will either make or break the couple and shows what the couple really feel about each other and if they will fight for what they have.

Another great addiction to the series and I can't wait for book 2 with Charlotte and T-Rex.

My Review  5 STARS
Really enjoyed listening to this. I have read the book before, but listening to this while doing things was way easier.

Really loved Fox and Molly and the way that he just knew that she was the one woman for him and he worked hard on keeping her in his life.

A great listen.
