REVIEW - A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas

The Book
Release Date: 3 May 2016

The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas's spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses .

Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she's now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people.

As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre's hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.

Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

My Review     5 STARS
I can see why people might both love and hate this book.

This book starts after the ending of the last book snd we have Feyre back at the spring court, however she is massively suffering from PTSD and survivors guilt. Tamlin whoever is also suffering in his own way after having been through so much, however his way to protect Feyre is to keep her within the confined of the palace and its gardens, not wanting anything at all to harm her.

Neither of them talk to each other and this pushes them away, especially as Feyre is having to deal with her new body and the connection with Rhysand.

Once Rhys starts finally appearing to take Feyre to the Winter Court, we start seeing a new Feyre as Rhys brings out her anger, starts her learning her writing and reading and generally getting her out of her head and facing her fears head on and pushing her into situations so she gets stronger and knows that she CAN cope and continue fighting.

Rhys is not the man who we first thought he was, he wears a mask that very few see beneath and we get to know his close friends, his chosen family. We find out more about the other courts and their gifts and the whole book turns as eventually something happens back at the Spring Court that Feyre is rescued and decides not to return back there.

Suddenly Tamlin and the Spring Court are the bad guys and Rhys is one of the good guys.

Feyre does indeed get strong in both mind and body, but Rhys and she both bond with their shared pain and desire to fight hard for their friends and family.

Towards the end of the book we see more of Tamlin and the decisions that he has chosen. With his own PTSD he still loves Feyre, but his love has become blind and toxic and he has made some bad errors. Lucien is still by his side, but now it appears he is starting to question more the blind following.

Again Feyre is put in a hard position where her family are suffering and she has to choose how to be of greater help, giving us more twists and turns as when in the hall of King Hyburn she makes the choice to save her friends and mate with great cost to herself.

I am really looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens next in this saga.
