The Year We Fell Down (The Ivy Years #1) by Sarina Bowen

The Book
Release Date: 24 March 2014

The sport she loves is out of reach. The boy she loves has someone else.

What now?

She expected to start Harkness College as a varsity ice hockey player. But a serious accident means that Corey Callahan will start school in a wheelchair instead.

Across the hall, in the other handicapped-accessible dorm room, lives the too-delicious-to-be real Adam Hartley, another would-be hockey star with his leg broken in two places. He’s way out of Corey’s league.

Also, he’s taken.

Nevertheless, an unlikely alliance blooms between Corey and Hartley in the “gimp ghetto” of McHerrin Hall. Over tequila, perilously balanced dining hall trays, and video games, the two cope with disappointments that nobody else understands.

They’re just friends, of course, until one night when things fall apart. Or fall together. All Corey knows is that she’s falling. Hard.

But will Hartley set aside his trophy girl to love someone as broken as Corey? If he won’t, she will need to find the courage to make a life for herself at Harkness — one which does not revolve around the sport she can no longer play, or the brown-eyed boy who’s afraid to love her back.

My Opinion  5 STARS

I really loved this friends to lovers book.

Both Hartley and Callahan make friends very quickly over their current circumstances and a hockey console game, that brings out both of their competitive sides.  Hartley broke his leg in two places and so is unable to play hockey for college this year.

Across the hallway, Callahan move in and finds a friend with her roommate Dana.  Callahan was in a hockey accident last year that left her in a wheelchair and still struggling to walk.  She will never be able to play the sport she loves again.

Both look out for and after the other as they spend more and more time together, however, Hartley has a girlfriend who is currently in europe.  The only bit i didn't like in their relationship was when they fondled on his birthday as it was technically cheating, but then being a realist, these things do happen when alcohol is involved along with lust.

Both made a wonderful couple and it was zoo nice to see how much he cared for and did for Callahan, especially when they got together.  I'm so glad that they got a HEA together.
