Jase Kayrs was the fun brother. The warm, charming, easy-going brother of the vampire leaders. Until he was taken and tortured by demons with their evil mind tricks for nearly five years. Upon his return, he’s dark, violent, and not the man they all thought they knew. Not the man he once was. He’s haunted that the only reason the demons would have let him live was to use him as a weapon against his family—but he can’t figure out when or how he’ll explode. Plus, once again the demons are after Jase with a vengeance…or rather, a female demon he rejected is out to destroy him.

Then the king asks Jase for a favor… a big one. To mate with one of their allies in order to save her. She’s everything that’s good and light in the world… while he’s at home with darkness. Yet he agrees… knowing mating may be the only chance to save them both.

Oh. My. Goodness.

I have been waiting for Jace's story and it has not disappointed.  This is a book in a series with a story line that is building from the first book, so cant be read as a stand alone.

Tortured Jace finally finds his chance to save Brenna Dunne, Moira's sister and the woman that kept him alive in his darkest hour with her paintings.  Brennan was poisoned five years ago and no longer has much time before she dies.  She was also born during a special event, and that event is due to happen in only a matter of weeks, an event that has been predicted.

Both end up helping each other and Jace finds a new normal with Brenna, one he thought had gone from his life.  More characters perish, battles are fought and you will have your heart in your hands as you follow the characters to what is becoming close to the end of the war and Janie's role in all of this.

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see where everything leads.
