REVIEW - Touched by Suzanne Jefferies

The Book
Release Date: 28 November 2018
Goodreads Link

Sunday is Billy’s day. Sunday is the freshness of baked bread, the earthiness of fresh cut grass, the sweetness of chilled milk. It is a day for the reborn. It’s the day that he takes up his podium and preaches to the parishioners of Liberty, guiding them, advising them, providing them with the soothing they need to face the uncertainties that life invariably dishes up.
For a few hours on a Sunday morning, they get to be the best versions of themselves – like William Jorge.
But, Billy’s still there.
He was with me last night in the kitchen downstairs, his robes discarded, his desire as human as those he guides.

Only one person knows Max Montgomery’s deepest, darkest synesthesia secrets — Billy Jorge. But he ran out on her after six months, when she was still a teen, leaving her to deal with the fallout. A year before, Max arrived back in Liberty to bury her mother, pack up and sell the family house and head out to pursue the rest of her life. So, why’s she still there? Because Billy’s back in Liberty in his role of local preacher, Father William Jorge. Because he’s still the only person who knows her, who she can trust herself with - or can she?

Touched is a dark erotica novella, the second in the Voluptuary Pleasures series.

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a shorter book, however it goes from past to present and has darker themes and our main girl has a condition that i had to look up it was that kinda rare.

There is lots of pushing and pulling between Max and Billy, but having been there for each other for a while when children and having more of a connection, this pair were seriously hot for each other and struggled not only within themselves but with each other.

We get a happy ending, but this book feels more like a novella is is quite heavy all the way through.

REVIEW - Vow of Sacrifice (Vow #5) by Emma Renshaw

When those he loves the most are threatened, will the cost of his sacrifice be his own life?

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I totally got sucked into the story for this one, however the editing still needs quite a bit of work with misspelled words all over the place.

So Callan is ex mafia and Iris is still on the run from an abusive ex-husband who still wants her back,  This book is basically Callan chasing after a very skittish Iris with other characters from the series in the book a lot, however this book can certainly be read as a stand alone with no problem.

Iris has been hiding from her e-husband for two years, however it is her next-door neighbour Callan and his sister that open Iris up to a less chilling world and a man that will do anything to protect those he cares about.

Callan and Iris grew up with crap backgrounds and he can see that all is not well with Iris from the beginning and does everything he can to make her feel safe that that he is not a threat.

I loved all the supporting character and that they are all there for each other and immediately just accept Iris into their fold.  When i have time i will certainly come back to finish this series from the beginning.

REVIEW - The Perks of Being a Duchess (Middleton #2) by Tanya Wilde

The Book
Release Date: 16 October 2018

When a Middleton causes a scandal, it's never by half measures . . .

This was certainly the case with Willow Middleton, who had thrown every bit of care to the mid-May breeze and . . . married the imperious duke her sister abandoned at the altar moments ago.

But how is a bride to win over her bossy husband?

• Disobeying his every rule probably won’t help.
• Perhaps some kissing is in order?
• Maybe even some seduction?
• Unearthing his every secret is definitely recommended.
• Falling in love . . . completely out of her control.

My Review  4 STARS
I really am enjoying this Historical series, this book focuses on Willow and Ambrose who we meet in book one of the series and happens during the same timeframe of the wedding until Holly and Brahm's wedding.

We see behind the mask that Ambrose has created and the reason why it is there, we also see more of Willow's backbone and the way that she worms her way under her husbands resolve and mask to get to the real man beneath whilst still being the same strong woman.

Both characters grow, especially Ambrose and i enjoyed seeing more of Poppy and i really hope that she gets a book of her own along with Ambrose's brother Lord Jonathan.

RELEASE BLITZ (Review) - Master Baker by Pippa Grant

The Book
Release Date: 27 June 2019
Goodreads Link

They call me the sugar whisperer.

Anything your tongue desires, I can bake it. Scones? Child’s play. Cupcakes? I’ll frost them so good you won’t know what hit you. Donuts? Please.

You’re talking to a master baker.

But there’s one egg I’ve never been able to crack.

My best friend.

Former best friend, that is.

She’s the apple in my pie. The whip in my cream. The lemon in my meringue. The
wish in my bone.

She’s the one who got away.

After ten years in the military, she’s back. She’s bruised and battered by life, but
she’s back.

Except she’s not my second chance. She’s gone to the dark side.

Running a rival bakery in a town not big enough for two.

So now I have to decide—which do I want more?

My bakery?

Or the woman I never should’ve let go in the first place?

Master Baker is a deliciously fun friends-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy
featuring a smooth-talking baker, the one who got away, and a goat with more matchmaking tendencies than a nosy old grandpa. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  This book had me laughing so hard, this dirty talking baker also had me snorting  and hot in the collar.

The chemistry between Grady and Annika is off the charts and you really get a sense that their past has held them back in the relationship department and when finding each other again they know that they are the only people for each other.

Grady is a bit of an idiot at first and poor Annika has a lot to deal with back home and not knowing if her discharge papers are going to go through in time with her emergency leave from the army.

We get to see lots of other characters in this book from previous books and series.  The Berger twins for example make an appearance with Chase Jett.

Really hoping that Cooper Rock gets his tale told soon.

REVIEW - An Invitation to Marriage (Middleton #1) by Tanya Wilde

The Book
Release Date: 7 March 2018
Goodreads Link

An incurable romantic, Holly Middleton spent her entire youth daydreaming about love, princes, and pirates. She never doubted one day she would meet the man who would sweep her off her feet. And what better man to do the sweeping than a charming, irresistible duke?

But what is a woman to do when her dashing duke turns out to be not so dashing after all?

• Run away from her wedding, that’s what.
• Hope she doesn’t get caught.
• Certainly not by a handsome marquis.
• And if caught by a handsome marquis . . .
• Under no circumstance fall in love with him.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Generally i do not read historical romance as they are not my thing, but i am so glad that i gave this book a chance.  I really enjoyed the story and was soon immersed in the story and its characters.

Holly is a spirited woman who on the cusp of a whirlwind engagement has found that the man she is supposed to marry is not the man that she thought he was.

Her sisters are also of the same breed and are also spirited and highly witty and give the men in their lives an interesting time.

When Brahms helps Holly out, he is a man who has he to protect his wilful sister until she married, he finds he has stepped into more than he thought, especially as Holly decides the loud man is actually the man that she wants.

I really enjoyed the chase with the pair of them and the eventual HEA.  I really hope that Poppy gets her story told.

REVIEW - The Marriage Pact by Winter Renshaw

The Book
Release Date: 28 June 2019
Goodreads Link

I was sixteen when I vowed I would never marry him.

We shook on it. Pinky swore. Even put it in writing and all but signed our names in blood.

It was the one and only thing we ever agreed on.

To the world, he’s Prince Julian, Duke of Montcroix, second in line to the Chamont throne. Panty-melting accent. Royal charm. Hypnotic presence. Blindingly gorgeous. Laundry list of women all over the world who would give their first born for the chance to marry him. Most eligible bachelor in the free world …

But to me, he’s nothing more than the son of my father’s best friend—the pesky blue-eyed boy who made it his mission to annoy the ever-loving hell out of me summer after summer as our families vacationed together, our parents oblivious to our mutual disdain as they joked about our “betrothal.”

He was also my first kiss.

And my first taste of heartbreak so cataclysmic it almost broke me.

I meant it with every fiber of my soul when I swore I’d never marry him.

But on the eve of my 24th birthday, His Royal Highness has the audacity to show up at my door after years of silence and make a demand will forever change the trajectory of our lives: “We have to break our pact.”

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Another brilliant book by this author that had me wrapped in this book from page one where Julian turns up on Emelie's front door.

There were not many twists and turns in the book, however the main issue the pair had could have been gotten over if they had just talked to each other, but what fun would that be for us the readers.

Emelie is a really strong character and she shows how she will do anything for her family and she does everything that is asked of her by Julian without complaint.

This is a fairly light book with lots going on, however we certainly get a HEA, but not quite the way you think will happen.

REVIEW - Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar by Rachel Higginson

The Book
Release Date: 25 June
Goodreads Link

My name is Clover Calloway and I’ve lived two separate lives.

The first, I like to call “my past.” I never talk about it. I try not to think about it. My rockstar days of playing in one of the hottest bands on the planet are over. Along with the most volatile, beautiful, tragic love story of all time.

Over the past five years, I’ve settled into my second life. My “normal life.” The one where I work a normal job, hang out with normal people and fall in love with a normal, but wonderful guy. The life where I’m admittedly a little bored, but also safe.

My past wasn’t boring. But my past broke my heart into a million, unfixable pieces. So, I’m determined to keep it where it belongs—behind me.

And the man responsible for the shattering of me? Malachi Porter, lead singer and mastermind of Bright Tragedy, should stay there too. Far away from me and this idyllic life I’ve carved out for myself.

But what happens when my two lives collide?

When Malachi comes crashing into my perfectly normal world, he threatens to destroy it, promises to annihilate everything I’ve replaced him with.

He upends everything I thought I wanted and forces me to question the reasons I left Bright Tragedy all those years ago.

But I didn’t walk away five years ago, I ran. As fast as I could go. And while my heart is whispering that it’s different this time—that he’s different—my brain is screaming for me to run again.

Malachi Porter isn’t a normal guy. And he doesn’t belong in my “normal life.” But, nevertheless, he’s bound and determined to make a place for himself here.

I just hope my heart can survive him, that we don’t burn into another bright tragedy.

Teaser:
“I hardly recognized you,” I told him, breathless with surprise. “Those glasses totally do the trick.”
He touched the frames. “Yeah?”
“No,” I laughed. “Not even a little bit.”
His smile was genuine, big, breathtaking. “Brennan said I can’t be seen. I’m supposed to be in Belgium.”
“And why aren’t you in Belgium?” I asked him as he moved slowly toward me.
He shrugged. “We have a break. And you and I need to finish our song.” His toes bumped into mine before he stopped walking. I had to crane my neck back to look at him. “I missed… my guitar.”
What? “Your guitar?”
“The Fender I left at your house? It’s my road guitar. I never leave home without her.”
Rolling my eyes, I jumped to my feet and started collecting my things. “I wish you would have told me that sooner,” I murmured. “I already sold it.”
“You did what?”
I looked at him, unblinking. “Do you know how much a Kai Porter signed guitar goes for?”
“It wasn’t signed.”
“By you,” I pointed out. “But they don’t know that.” Pausing for dramatic flair, I added quickly. “Those schmucks on eBay will pay high dollar for anything.”
Color drained from his face. “You signed my favorite guitar and sold it? On eBay?”
I suppressed my smile, although it wasn’t easy. “Was I not supposed to do that?”
He lunged for me, grabbing hold of my messenger bag strap and tugging me to him. Just when I thought we would crash into each other, his hands landed on my sides, squeezing, tickling, torturing.
“No, you weren’t supposed to do that,” he growled, laughing at my absolute hysterics.

I screamed indelicately in the middle of Macy’s and then dissolved into laughter. People were stopping to stare at us. Probably wondering if this guy was murdering me or kidnapping me. “We’re fine,” I wheezed as I wrestled away from him. “Nothing to see here, folks.”

Oh mamma, this book seriously has all the feels!!!!

I started this book around lunch time yesterday and was still up at 2:30am reading knowing i had to get up before 7am to get the kids to school.  The book was that good i just did not want to put it down.

Rachel certainly tugged at the heart strings with this one with Malachi and his past along with how Clover had to get away just for her sanity.  It was lovely to see that everything that Malachi had done was in order to get Clover back into his life where she belonged.

Clover certainly grows more as a person with Kai by her side and with her awesome friends helping her out.  Kai certainly challenges Clover to see what he has built is not quite the real her and that she is only settling when with Kai she can have the forever kind of love.

The epilogue is heartwarming too and ends in a really positive light and you can't help but wish that the other members of the band also get to have a story told too.

I highly recommend this book.

REVIEW - Superfan (Brooklyn #3) by Sarina Bowen

The Book
Release Date: 25 June 2019

Sometimes lady luck shakes your hand, and sometimes she smacks your face. Sometimes she does both on the same day.

But fate wasn’t done with us yet. When Delilah turns up at a hockey game, I can’t resist making contact. The internet swoons when I ask her out on a date.

She might not remember me. But her jerkface ex does. He’ll do anything to keep us apart.

Good thing athletes never give up. This time I’m playing for keeps.

Yay, the Brooklyn Bruisers continue with Silas and Delilah and a seriously want a guy as lovely as Silas.

Silas and Delilah met three years ago before Silas got his big break with getting a goalie position with the Brusisers.  But it meant that he missed a date with the girl he was falling for as he did not have her number.

In the past three years Delilah has gone from strength to strength with her music career and now she has broken up with her more than awful boyfriend of nearly three years.  It is a chance twitter message and seeing Delilah at a Hockey game on TV that has Silas and Delilah meeting up for a reunion that changes the way things happen for Delilah.

Silas is just the same with her, he treats her like a lady, like he is not worthy of her and always makes her laugh and see the lighter side of things even when things in her world are being shaken up.  Silas supports her and is there when she needs it most.

I really loved the dynamic between the pair and seeing past characters involved and intertwined with them.

Really enjoyed this book and hope we get more happy endings with the Brooklyn Bruisers hockey team!

One little secret from the past is keeping her from the future.

When they come face to face again, nothing could’ve prepared them for the sucker punch love was about to land.
Nothing worth having comes without a fight.

My Review  3 STARS
This is the first book that i have read by either author and i think the writing between the pair is really good, you are unable to tell that their is two authors telling this story.

Chad is a boxer who has gone down a bad road and has a past that still hurts him, whilst Lola feels trapped in her current world with a nasty fiancee, a nasty father and a mother who cares more about appearances.

When Chad and Lola meet again after having been separated things come to blow.  Chad has only just started to move on with his life many years down the line and Lola is trying to claw her way out of her current life, however both have hefty amounts of anger to work through, especially as when they find out that the parents were in cahoots in separating them.

Chad has a good friend in Jason and Lola makes a few friends when she arrives in the city.

To be honest both have issues that don't really get sorted out with each other and seem to always struggle with the ever present anger that they hold.

Its a book read, but their is not much character growth.

REVIEW - The Librarian's Vampire Assistant 3 (The Librarian's Vampire Assistant) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The Book
Release Date: 18 June 2019
Goodreads Link

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes an uncomfortably hilarious Mystery with a heaping help of sexual frustration, THE LIBRARIAN’S VAMPIRE ASSISTANT, Book Three.(Yep! It’s a STAND-ALONE. But why not read them all because…fun!)

FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOUR BOSS JUST CAN’T GET MORE AWKWARD...

Michael Vanderhorst is not your usual vampire. For starters, he works in a library, is in love with Miriam, his hot nerdy human boss who has no clue what he is, and he looks like a college student.

In reality, Michael is an ancient deadly vampire, an ex-assassin, and is currently the de facto king of his kind ever since their ruling party disappeared. To where? He doesn’t know, but if he wants his life back, he’ll have to find out. (Mystery!) Especially because a civil war is brewing, and being king makes his librarian a mark for his enemies. (She is, after all, his biggest weakness.)

With a global uprising about to explode, Michael must give her the protection of his army. Only one problem: She must become his queen first. But every attempt he makes to tell her the truth is met with extreme hostility. “Vampires aren’t real. That’s crazy talk, Michael!” Clearly, the topic frightens her.

With time running out and her life on the line, Michael is left with one option: Marry her. Without her knowing.

Can he pull it off? And what will happen when the fight comes to their door?

Oh.My.Goodness.  There are so many curve balls in this book and i never saw ANY of them coming!

Things with Michael and Miriam were left at an interesting place in the last book and everything is cleared up in this book with more twists and turns that you can think of.  Seriously the book is full paced, keeps taking you in the wrong direction, then surprising you.

Both Miriam and Michael band together to get to the bottom of our ongoing mystery and everything is certainly solved eventually, we get to see more antics from the eccentric vampire that is Mr Nice, he certainly adds a comedy splash into the mix.

I really enjoyed this book, in fact this entire series was just brilliant and i am really hoping that the author will find something else up her sleeve in order to write more books in the series.
