REVIEW - Mortal Siege (Siege Series #2) by N. Isabelle Blanco

The Book
Release Date: 28 February 2019
Goodreads Link

The conclusion to the Dark Romance Siege Series!

This isn’t how our story ends.
No. This murder we’ve just committed?
This is how our story truly begins . . .

I told myself I was going to save her.

I didn’t realize what a lie that was.

This neurosis has sunk in too deep. All it took was one glimpse of another man inside her for the beast that murdered Barnard to finish consuming me.

I’ve turned her into killer.

Just like me.

With every corroded, toxicity-infested sin laid bare between us, all that’s left is revenge.

And the chasm of diabolical need that tethers us.

A need to consume each other.
A need to make our enemies pay.
They stole seven years from us. Every ounce of sanity we had left.
Now, we’re going to steal everything from them.

Most of all, we won’t stop until every single one of them is dead.

I told myself I was going to save Lexi . . . in reality, I’ve finished ruining her.

And she would have it no other way.

Warning: this series is not for everyone. As the story progresses, dark themes are explored that might be a trigger for some. Please read at your own discretion. Definitely 18+.

My Opinion  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is part two of the series and it overlaps the first book a little bit, but the overlap is from Drew's point of view instead of Lexi's

The book alternates point of view between them and we see the path both of them take as we see how damaged the pair truly are, but are only ever more together when they are not separated and get to know each other again.

There are quite a few dark themes in this series and could be a trigger for some, but the story is written brilliantly and you cannot help but be pulled along and wanting the pair to get a happy ever after.

Really kind of hoping that there is a book three with this series, but i very much doubt it.

REVIEW - The Something about Her (Opposites Attract #4) by Rachel Higginson

The Book
Release Date: 26 February 2019
Goodreads Link

My new, fancy, head chef position at one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the city is not turning out like I’d hoped. I’m a mess. Totally out of my element and underqualified, I’ve been thrown into a fiery kitchen and I’m not sure I can handle the heat.

On top of that, my personal life is falling apart. And to make matters worse, my best friend's brother keeps popping up at all my worst moments to save the day.

I’ve never claimed to have it together, but I certainly don’t need a man to rescue me every time I get my heel stuck in a sewer grate. Except that’s what keeps happening.

Vann Delane is pushy and stuck up and thinks he knows everything there is to know about everything. And for whatever reason, he keeps saving me.

Not that he’s happy about it. He’s made it clear what he thinks about my money and dream job and the designer shoes he saved last weekend. He’s not impressed with me and my penchant for disaster.

I’ve decided to stay away from him. I’ve got too many other fires to put out to worry about the something between us that doesn’t have a name.

So, he can give his knight in shining armor kindness to someone else. And he can save those intense glances and butterfly-inducing smiles for the nice girl he’s looking for. And he can deny it all he wants, but I know he likes me.

He says I drive him crazy. But I know there’s something about me that he can’t deny.

Teaser

“I like you a lot, Baptiste.” His words were said in the richest, warmest tone. They shot straight to my heart and spiraled all the way down to my toes. “I like you a lot too, Delane.” “It’s different though, isn’t it?” “What?” “Us,” he said simply. I held his gaze, but didn’t know what to make of his thoughts. “What do you mean?” “Has it ever been like this for you? I mean, in a relationship?” I hadn’t ever really been in a relationship before, so I wasn’t sure what to say. “No,” seemed like an honest-enough answer. “I’ve never felt like this about anybody before.” One side of his mouth kicked up in a half-smile. “There’s something here,” he murmured, his eyes a stormy tempest of truth and raw honesty. “There’s something between us.”

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Every time i read a book by this author, the books seem to be getting better and better and this book is no exception.

This is the last book in the series and focuses on Dillion, Ezras sister and Vann Delane, Vera's sister.  Both are characters that we have seen in previous books and gotten to know a little bit, but now felt for the characters, especially Dillion as we see just how much of a survivor and how strong she really is.

Vann really comes out of his shell and we see more that a sarcastic man, he shows lots of sides of himself, especially around Dillon.

Dillon is still sweet, but we see her struggle as she finally feels comfortable in her skin as who she is now, even if she never really knew who she was before.  Dillon carves a name for herself within a kitchen and with a job that really becomes her.  She finds a strength in herself to get the job done, and done well.

I really enjoyed this book and the sensitive topic that is woven through right until the end where she finally opens up to Vann.

I was also very happy to get more on the previous books characters as they forge together as a group of friends and become more and more like a large family.

I cannot recommend this series enough.

REVIEW - Push Up Brawl: A Vampire/Shifter Urban Fantasy Romance (Supernatural in Seattle Book 1) by Bella Jacobs

The Book
Release Date: 22 February 2019
Goodreads Link

One beauty-queen-turned-shifter out to squash her evil ex boyfriend. Two vampires looking for a one-of-a-kind girl to help reclaim their stolen throne. And a sexy bargain that's triple the fun...

The only thing worse than dating a mad scientist who couldn't keep his swizzle stick out of other women's beakers? Discovering he secretly revenge-altered your DNA while you were sleeping.

Now, I'm the world's only rhino shifter.
That's right. A rhinoceros.

I went from second-runner-up at the Miss U.S. pageant, spending hours perfecting my ballet routine, spray tanning, and selecting the perfect push-up bra, to rolling in the mud to keep the ticks away and wondering what I'll do if militant shifters determined to kill freaks like me catch up with me before I'm able to stay human full time.

Enter two stupidly hot vampires who say they can give me what I need.
All night long...

Okay, so they don't say the second part flat-out, but it's all sorts of implied. I scratch their backs, they'll scratch mine, and we'll all part ways with multiple O's, no regrets, and no one's head on a pike outside Kin Born Shifter headquarters.

But what happens when I fall in love? With both of them?
Or when I decide maybe being one-of-a-kind isn't so bad, after all?
Can rhinos live happily ever after?

Push Up Brawl is a red hot stand alone urban fantasy romance set in the world of Bella Jacob's Dark Moon Shifters series. Each of these steamy standalone tales end with a happily ever after and can be enjoyed alone or as part of the larger Dark Moon universe. No Cliffhanger.

Oh.My.Goodness.  This is the best supernatural book that i have read in ages!  It's the beginning of a new series by this author and he books keep getting better and better.

Eliza is a kick ass character who rolls with the punches and certainly cannot help falling for Rourke and Leo, like the rest of us.  Seriously you cannot help but to fall for these characters.

I certainly laughed with this book ad the authors clever ideas and the way this book magically comes together to take you on an awesome ride.  I smiled so hard at times my cheeks hurt and i felt Eliza's pain at times as if it were my own.

I really hope everyone gives this author and this book a chance because it is pure brilliance.

REVIEW - Blow Me Away (Mile High Matched #2) by Christina Hovland

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the second book in the series and can be read as a stand alone.  We first met Jase and Heather in book one when Bree and Velma got together, which is just as good.

Jase is a lot more fun than i gave him credit for and his grandmother Babushka certainly made the whole book a lot more fun.  She was certainly the third character in the book and helped put our two characters together with her Russian stubbornness.  She was my favourite character in the whole book.

Both Jase and Heather had good chemistry and you could see them inching closer together even with Jase messing up.

Certainly looking forward to the next book in the series.

REVIEW - Charming as Puck by Pippa Grant

The Book
Release Date: 1 February 2019
Goodreads Link

The man could charm the panties off of a nun…

Nick Murphy. Hockey god. My best friend’s big brother. My friend-with-mindblowing-benefits. The best thing to happen to my nether regions since my subscription to the toy of the month club. The man I’ve been secretly in love with for years.

And total ass.

I am so done with him.

Except there’s one small problem.

Now that I’ve cut him off, his hockey game is in the toilet. He’s convinced I’m his good luck charm, and he wants me back. But only for his game.

I’ll be strong. I will. I’ll resist.

Asses don’t change their stripes.

Or do they?

This plan would be so easy if the man wasn't Charming as Puck…

Charming as Puck is a romping fun romance between a hockey player and his sister's best friend, complete with farm animals, over the top birthday presents, and Berger Twin sightings. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers and ends with a pucking awesome happily ever after

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This was a very fun read and i could not put the book down.  After reading the collar book between one of my favourite authors Lili Valente and Pippa Grant, i just knew that i had to try Pippa's books in her own right.  I am very glad that i did.

There were so many funny parts in the book, high-jinx between friends and a brilliant love story all within a series of books that can be read as stand alone.

My favourite part?

“Dad stops behind Felicity, larger than life even in his late sixties, his hair prayer than brown, the lines in his face getting deeper every day. He gives me a strangled sort of look. "I'm supposed to talk to you about where babies come from. Your mother says you were doing it wrong."

Felicity has a sudden coughing fit that has Ares off his feet and across the room making sure the baby's okay before i can finish thinking fuck.

"I told her she should've given you a few more minutes," dad adds. He clears his throat. "So the shed should be free tonight."

Felicity's leaning against the wall, laughing so hard she's crying. Loki's gripping her around the head and patting her hair, his eyes huge and terrified, like female tears scare the shit out of him.

Are's whole body is vibrating with silent laughter.

Dad clears his throat again and nods to me. "So, practice good. You're welcome to stay here as long as you want.”

I mean how can you not love a book like this?  It had me in stitches.  I am certainly going to be reading more from this author.

I was certainly invested in the characters and was rooting for things to go well between them and i am so glad that they did.  I am really interested to see what happens to the rest of the Hockey crew so i will certainly be reading the other books previously release with the team character and any future books by this author.

REVIEW - Big Bad Professor by Tia Siren

The Book
Release Date: 6 December 2016
Goodreads Link

Who better to teach me all about sex than a big bad professor…

AUDREY ROSS:
Professor Hollander gave me an F! What the hell. I work my ass off to get good grades! Even if he is as sexy as hell, I’d never suck up to him or even suck him off for an A.

But then it turns out he gave everyone an F and we all started venting on FaceSpace. Then someone posted this: Hollander couldn’t even teach a virgin how to come! Right, Audrey Ross? lol!!!

Now everyone knows I’m a virgin, even Chase Hollander.

He just private messaged me and offered to help me with my little virginity problem.

He’s going to make me come, he says, and this time he’ll make sure I get an A…

CHASE HOLLANDER:
Yeah. My class is hard. I know the students hate me for it. The little bastards want to complain? I’ll show them what hard really is. F*ck it. I don’t care about the consequences. Hell, at this point I don’t have much left to lose.

So I gave the whole class an F.

Then they start bitching about me on FaceSpace. But it got interesting. Audrey Ross, the only girl in the class who gives a shit about her grades, is outed as a virgin.

She complains that I gave her an F? I’ll give the virgin the biggest O she’s ever had.

This is a sexy stand alone with a guaranteed HEA.

Tia Siren. Spoil the bad girl in you.

My Review  3 STARS
I am pretty sure that this is one of my Bookbub buys because it came up as Free at the time and it sounded intriguing.

The blurb above really tells the story.  There is approximately a twenty year difference between the characters and Chase has had a drink and cigarette problem for the last two years and it is a morning after a bender that he realises what he has done with the classes grades.  An instant message later with a horny student later and the are both naked in his house.

The book goes very quickly and we get a good positive outlook at the end with all characters concerned in happy places.

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I loved this novella as it really drew me in from the beginning.

The novella focuses on Alexander (Xane), Kelly's brother and Phoebe who is a new character.

The novella is told from both points of view and we see the emotions of both characters as they morf from virtual strangers to more.  We see past hurts that have helped to shaped them and we see them now as they struggle to come to terms with changed feelings and protective instincts.

The book does stop with a bit of a jerk, but not in a bad way, it just leaves you wanting more, wanting to know what happens next with not only these two characters, but with the rest of the series.

REVIEW - Battle of the Bulge (OHellNo #4) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The Book
Release Date: 14 February 2019

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comesBATTLE OF THE BULGE, Book Four of the OHellNO Series. (A Standalone.)

“Chicks can’t be bodyguards. Especially hot chicks.”

MY NAME IS MITCH HOFER. I’m a world-famous swimmer from Australia, best known for three things: my gold medals, my looks, and filling out a swimsuit with my…eh-hem—bulky equipment. Let’s just say there’s a reason my nickname is “the Bulge.”

But beyond the fame, sponsors, and glory, there’s more to me than people know, including one hell of a mess I’ve gotten mixed up in. Life-or-death stuff, so bring in the professionals. Just don’t give me a chick bodyguard. Especially a young hot one who distracts me at every turn and hates my guts…

MY NAME IS ABI CARTER, and I hate Mitch Hofer. Yeah, he might be the sexiest champion swimmer in the world, but I’d give this guy a gold medal for being a first-class jerk.

Unfortunately, my boss has given me a choice—guard Mitch or get another job. And I really need the money. I can be professional, but if Mitch says “chicks can’t be bodyguards” one more time, I just might strangle him myself.

Still, something about the way Mitch keeps looking at me makes me think there’s more to his story. It’s almost as if he’s trying to drive me away. But why?

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is another brilliant book in the series and focuses on Georgie's best friend Abi who we met in the previous book.

The book starts with Abi being on boot camp but we soon learn what events happened as to why she is there.  Abi has signed on with Sam from the previous book to be a bodyguard and is happy until she learns who her first assignment is.

Mitch is an Aussie who has moved to the US after his Uncle died and is redoing his last year at university while he trains to swim in the Olympics for Australia.

We get lots of glimpses of the real Mitch and we see a lot of times where Mitch pushes people away to try and save them from his drama, especially Abi.

Abi is really good at the bodyguard stuff and has to save Mitch as few times, all of which shake Mitch up, and he does do some stupid things.

Abi is a pretty grounded character and is protective of all those that she cares about and she learns quickly when she makes mistakes.

Another great edition to the series and i cannot wait to read Leland and Giselle's story.

REVIEW - Special Delivery (Mountain Meadow Homecomings #1) by Laura Browning

The Book
Release Date: 12 May 2015
Goodreads Link

Welcome home to Mountain Meadow, Virginia—a small town with a big heart, where love is just around the corner…

All Holly Morgan wants is a safe place to have her baby. Nestled deep within the Blue Ridge Mountains, miles away from her abusive ex-fiancé, Spence, Mountain Meadow seems perfect. Holly can manage a few meddling church matrons if it means Spence can’t find her. Harder to handle is Jake Allred. He may be a dark-haired hunk, but he’s also someone Holly can’t trust: a cop.

Since his time in the military, Lieutenant Jake Allred has lived to protect and serve. And if anyone needs protection, it’s Holly. Having been let down by the law before, she’s wary of letting Jake into her life. But when an unexpected snow storm strands them together, their attraction is hot enough to melt the mounting ice. Just when Jake thinks he’s finally warmed Holly’s heart, Spence strikes. Now it’s up to Jake to save Holly’s baby and bring their fledgling family back together.

My Review  3 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Kensington Books, for an honest review**

This was a lovely read that went slowly at times and then sped up when there was something happening.

Holly moves to Mountain Meadows heavily pregnant with her little brother who she has guardianship over in order to get away from an abusive ex-fiancee.  She is very wary of talking to anyone about her past let alone accepting any help from anyone, even though she needs it.

Tyler, her little brother has had to grow up quickly and helps out in ways that are lovely to see, like getting a job when he is only 11 or 12, in order that they can get money or food.

Jake is a police officer and it is after seeing Jake walking home with grocery's that he starts stepping in to help his new neighbours and getting closer to Holly.  It is durning a storm that things take a turn and their relationship changes forever.

There are lots of lovely characters in this book and you get an idea of what a small town could be like should you live there, where everyone knows your business, the relationships are nice and we really get two couples coming together in this story as the plot thickens and twists.

I may have to go back at some point and finish this series.

REVIEW - Drilled (Dad Bod Contracting #2) by Jasinda Wilder

The Book
Release Date: 13 September 2018
Goodreads Link

IMOGEN: Jesse says you better know what you’re doing with Franco.
ME: Dude, I’m scared.
IMOGEN: !! What? Tell me!
ME: He makes me FEEL THINGS. It’s icky and I don’t like it.
IMOGEN: You’ve known him what, a few hours?
ME: I’m telling you, he scares the sh*t out of me. But he’s so good I can’t stop myself.
IMOGEN: Audra, seriously. Chill. It’s been a couple hours. It’s just insta-lust.

I send Imogen another selfie, this one of my face—I'm biting my lower lip, eyes wide, glancing to the side at Franco laying next to me—his mouthwatering and lust-inducing body is on full display from the waist up. I send a caption a second later:

ME: YOU DONT UNDERSTAND!!! HE’S GOT A MAGICAL D*CK AND I’M FEELING THINGS!!!
ME: Uh-oh. He’s waking up. Time for round…3? 4? I’ve lost count. Tell me I’m a cold-hearted man-eating b*tch with no soul. Tell ME!
IMOGEN: You’re a cold-hearted man-eating bi*ch with no soul? Only, you’re not. So…you’re on own with this one. Except if you need me of course. I’ve got All Thai’d Up on speed dial, three bottles of Josh in the rack.
ME: if this goes south—or anywhere except nowhere, you’d better make it four. Or six. Because we’re either going to be incredible together, or we’ll destroy each other. There will be no in between.

I set the phone aside as Franco’s stunning blue eyes open and fix hungrily on me. He reaches for me, and all thoughts are banished except one:

God, I hope I know what I'm doing…

I laugh internally at that, because does anyone know what they’re doing?

I know I sure as hell don’t.

My Review  4 STARS
The second instalment in this series does not disappoint and we already knew that it was going to be between Franco and Audra, both serial daters after a past that has left them scared of commitment.

Audra tells the story this time and we see as she struggles with her emotions with Franco from the first moment that they get together and have sex, not great for Audra who has always kept things clean and simple since the time she got burned.

The book can feel a little slow at times and then we get big reveals or at least partial reveals until the end where it all becomes clear for the couple, but only once they have emotionally gone to hell and back, running scared and hiding out from friends and themselves, until something helps clear their minds.

I Enjoyed meeting two new female character and look forward to see how the relationships go between the remaining two men with Ryder and Laurel and then lastly James and Nova.

REVIEW - Hammered (Dad Bod Contracting #1) by Jasinda Wilder

The Book
Release Date: 27 June 2018

Dad Bod Contracting—for ALL your domestic contracting needs. Have a leaky faucet or clogged disposal? Need a new patio with intricate brickpaving designs? Want your garage transformed into a yoga studio? Dad Bod Contracting has you COVERED. Our clean, well-mannered, and friendly professionals pride themselves on attention to detail. Every job comes with a 100% customer SATISFACTION guarantee. No job is too small. Hand us your “honey-do” list and we’ll get it done, and we’ll look good doing it! A good job well done is one phone call away, so call Dad Bod Contracting today!

It started with a window that was jammed shut. Pretty simple, right? All I wanted was to open the windows while I tidied the house. I’d been after my no-good husband to do it for months, but he never did. And then he shacked up with his secretary, leaving me with a pile of bills, husband-free for the first time in ten years, and with a house that was falling apart.

The ad popped up on the side of my social media feed—a local contracting agency willing to do pretty much anything. Since I don’t really know a screwdriver from a ratchet, I gave them a call.

And let me tell you, the ad was NOT lying. Jesse O’Neill can do it ALL…and looks amazing doing it.

He fixed my window, so I called him back to fix the sagging, splintery front steps. Which led to him fixing my kitchen sink. And then he recarpeted my stairs. And then fixed the squeak in my bed.

He was supposed to fix my house, not my rusty, sputtering libido. And certainly not my broken heart.

My Review  4 STARS
This is the first book that i have read by this author and it will not be the last.  So much so that i have already downloaded book two in the series.

Imogen has had a bad day compounded at the end by breaking a window that just will not open.  Seeing an advert changes everything.  Jessie O'Neill walks in her day and changes her entire life around.

Jessie is a serial one night kind of man, but he instantly sees something in Imogen that leaves him not only wanting more, but to treat her in ways that she has never been treated before.  Jessie also has a big heart and helps Imogen with her less than perfect fixer-upper house without asking for much.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between the two and the friendship between Imogen and Audra and well as all the other Dad Bod Constructing members.   I am really looking forward to their stories being told.

Certainly well worth the read.

REVIEW - Smart Tass (OHellNo #1) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The Book
Release Date: 11 April 2017
Goodreads Link

He’s the hot quarterback all the girls want.
She’s the smart girl he loves to pick on.
And now that they’re all grown up, things are about to get geekin’ ugly...

My name is Tass. I’m smart, I’m driven, and I am determined not to let prankster Hunter Johnson continue raining on my parade. When we were little he’d pull my hair and call me names. When were teenagers, he’d throw food at me and tease me for being a flat chested virgin.

But now that we’ve ended up at the same college, things are about to change. Because I’m not that geeky little girl anymore, and Mr. Amazefootball is due for a little lesson. One about how women with brains shouldn’t be messed with. I’m going to crush his heart.

So what’s my plan? He’s about to find out…

My Review  4 STARS
I have had to back track to this book as i have read the net book in the series before this and wanted to know what happened previously in the series.

Being a Mimi Jean book there is a lot of witty dialogue and come backs that will have you laughing or snorting in amusement.  This author does not hold back on the crazy, but in the best possible way.

Yes, in some senses Tass our main girl, who is supposed to be really smart comes across as really stupid, but sometimes the smart people overlook the simple and most obvious solutions.  I have personally seen this first hand.

Hunter, although he has protected Tass in his own way, has also acted like a child with his feelings towards Tass most of their childhood, however with Tass's warped memories things become clear at the end when they FINALLY set the record straight and Tass can see what she has missed and also what she has forgotten due to trauma.

Although perhaps not the authors greatest work, it is still a very decent book and had me captivated until the end and still knowing that this will continue to be a one-click author for me.
