REVIEW - If I Loved You Less (Pemberley House #2) by Noelle Adams

The Book
Release Date: 30 April 2019
Goodreads Link

She's not supposed to think he's hot.

Em has known Ward Knightley all her life, and she's never thought he was hot before. He's always been only a family friend--thirteen years older than her and far too bossy. He gives her brotherly advice and lectures her when she does something silly, and the rest of the time he just laughs at her. Sure, he's smart and handsome and funny and kind. But he's not hot.

He's really not.

He's not supposed to be anyway. But once Em starts seeing him in a new way, she can't think about him the way she did before. She's usually good at arranging the world around her. She helps her friends find jobs and romantic partners, and she always has herself under control. But nothing is controlled about the way she's now wants Ward as so much more than a family friend.

If only he didn't still think about her as a little girl.

Pemberley House is a series of modern reimaginings of Jane Austen novels, and the books are set in a historic mansion in Virginia that has been converted into condos. If I Loved You Less is loosely inspired by Emma.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I enjoyed this book much more than the previous one and i really liked Ward, Emma was a little too clueless for me at times.

We met new characters, but many of the previous characters are intertwined into this book and lent their support and added something into the mix, i still do not like Riot and hope she grows up, but it was nice seeing Liz and Jane happy with their fiancees.

We get to watch as Ward and Emma start to see each other as more than just family friends to lovers and into something more as they realize, that, yes, they can have more and that they deserve more with each other.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to Anne story with Robert with their Persuasion type modern tale.

REVIEW - For Lila, Forever by Winter Renshaw

The Book
Release Date: 25 April 2019
Goodreads Link

The words “For Lila, forever” adorned the front of the envelope in blue ink, the handwriting all too familiar. But it didn’t matter what it said. I didn’t have the heart to open it.

We couldn’t be together.

Not after everything ...

Leaving Rose Crossing, Maine was one of the most painful moments of my life—or at least it was until the day I came face-to-face with Thayer Ainsworth again.

After a decade of searching, he’s found me, and he wants to know why I quit my housemaid job and left his family’s island estate without so much as a goodbye. But I’m bound by a devastating secret much bigger than the two of us, and telling him the truth has consequences.

Looking into the eyes of the only man I’ve ever loved, I tell him the only thing I’m allowed to: never contact me again. And when he’s gone, I sit down and finally open his letter.

Only it isn’t a letter at all.

And it changes everything.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author and Hidden Gems for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a second chance at love book after things go awry when Thayer and Lila part ways after the summer on Thayers grandfathers private island.

We get a good plot with a hidden element that will cause pain to both sides of the family and Thayer proves time and time again that he has been brought up well and has a very lovely soul, that just happens to be intrigued with Lila from the very moment that he see's her.

Lila goes through a lot, including the initial loss of her mother when she goes to live with her grandparents for the summer.  After that summer, things do get harder, but Lila is resilient and she has her grandparents.

The book os told from dual points of view and we get the past along with the present along with a very satisfactory epilogue.

I loved both main characters, but i do have a soft spot for the cousin who i hope gets a book of his own.

REVIEW - Accidental Husband by Crystal Kaswell

The Book
Release Date: 29 April 2019
Goodreads Link

It’s all fun and games in Vegas… until you accidentally marry your best friend.

Last night, I married Jules.
That's right, I married the girl who thought I had cooties in fourth grade.
Yeah, we drank a few too many shots of tequila. We danced a little too close. But nothing prepared me for the taste of her soft lips.
All of a sudden, we were in a borrowed limo (don’t ask), ripping each other’s clothes off, whispering dirty promises.
Then I was on one knee, asking her to make it forever. And she was saying yes.
This morning, everything changed.
She wants to erase our night. Go back to normal.
Only there’s no more normal. I’m acutely aware of her long legs, her soft curves, her sweet moan.
Mistakes be damned.
She’s my wife. I’m not about to let her go.

My Review  3 STARS
**My thanks to the author and Hidden Gems for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book is part of a series , however you do not need to read the rest of the series to keep up with the characters.

Griffin and Jules have been best friends since school and have been there for each other when it matters most, however after Jules calls off her wedding a trip to Vegas changes everything between them as they suddenly see things in the other that they did not see before.

Both Griff and Jules go off on their own when they hit Vegas with Griff's tattoo artist friends, however we follow their journey through the night as they get more and more drunk and Griff leads Jules into a discovery of what a real man is like especially after the first kiss they share.

With Jules still keeping a secret after a few good days in Vegas, things get a little more complicated back at home as they adjust to being married and the new rules of their relationship.

As expected the pair stumble and fall a little, but it is Griffin that lets the sorry charge and pulls up his panties and helps the pair reconcile after a visit from one of his friends.

I loved the optimistic ending and hope to read more from this author in the future.

Although this is part of a series i did not feel that i lot anything by not having read the previous books in the series.

That being said, this is exactly what i expect from this author, with an almost predictable outcome and plot line.

Both Ryder who wan the happy couple to split up as his friend is hiding a secret and Josie have a point to prove.  Josie who can find someone forever person believes in love for other, but Ryder a man who has been burned before does not.

It is trying to prove each other wrong that they actually get to know each other and Josie and her sister find out their secret.  We do not see any of the other member of the San Francisco pack, but we do get to see Ryder and the groom Mitch turn into wolfs.

Its a fairly simple tale with not too much drama.

His fear that the piratical Goridians have arrived to threaten his village again drives him to investigate. What he finds is something much better. The gods have delivered to him a divine goddess of his very own, and right when he’s in such dire need of a mate, too!

There’s no question that he must have her. So, he does what any self-respecting Tarilean warrior in his shoes would do. He steals her. Now, if he can just convince her to stay.

Reader Alert!
If smoking hot, possessive aliens aren’t really your thing, then you may not enjoy reading His Goddess, Book One of the Tarilean Adventure Series. For the rest of us who love a sexy, sizzling story with a dash of humor and a happy ending, His Goddess is both stimulating and satisfying.

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author and Hidden Gems for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This was a seriously good book, however there were too many things that did not work for me to give it a full five stars.

For example in needs better editing, o found that Horok our main man was called Haelic once, there is also the fact that we find out our main woman Cora is expecting twins, then in the epilogue she has triplets instead.

The ending bugged me the most.  The story was going along well and then just as Cora and her crew were being introduced the the 'village' and Horoks family the book ended, then gave us an epilogue a few months down the line.

The characters were good, the creatures created and the language were well put together, but lots of other things let this book down.

This said the story line had me turning page after page entranced with this new world in a galaxy not known to humans.

I certainly gave this book the stars for the story line rather than for everything else, as this book could be a truly epic read with a little fixing.

I liked the story line and the characters so much i have already downloaded book two in the series.

REVIEW - Rough Draft: Invitation to Eden (Big Easy #4) by Mari Carr

The Book
Release Date: 4 August 2014
Goodreads Link

Capture, bondage and fantasies fulfilled. It’s all fun and games until someone gets killed.
Bestselling crime novelist Jett Lewis is stumbling over a wicked case of writer’s block, his fast-flowing words having run dry. His publisher’s screaming “deadline”, the fans are ready to riot, and Jett just wants to disappear. His friend Carissa suggests he get away, clear his head…get laid. And she has just the ticket. Literally. Two passes to Eden, an exclusive island paradise.
Recently sans girlfriend, Jett convinces Carissa to go with him, and the resort is more than either of them bargained for—especially when the simple beach trip turns to murder. Thrust into a plot sinister enough to rival Jett’s books, the couple embarks on a search for the killer. The most shocking revelation of all might be their mutual attraction…and how much Jett and Carissa love working undercover.

My Review  3 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Fido Publishing , for an honest review**

I have read a few of the invitation to Eden books, although i have not yet read anything by this author before.  This book can also be read as part as a stand alone and i did not feel that i missed out on anything by doing this as it is more or less just set in Eden.

Carissa and Jett have been friends for 7 years when Jett first set foot in Carissa's bar Royal Lunch.  However suffering from writers block and having his family trying to help him out Jett decides to forgo family lunch and instead gets an offer from Carissa that changes the game between them.

I loved how the author added an element of mystery and a little bit of thriller into the book and we were never quite sure as to who was the bad guy.  There was a person to hate, a bad guy and Jett who showed Carissa a way into the BDSM world on the lighter side.

I enjoyed this story and will be looking into reading more of the Invitation to Eden books.

REVIEW - Biker Baby (Kings of Mayhem MC #3) by Penny Dee

The Book
Release Date: 19 April 2019
Goodreads Link

I was about to make a huge mistake.
And when I say huge, I mean, approximately ten inches’ worth of mistake.
But after the week I’d had, this was just what I needed. A night of big bad mistakes with a big bad biker.

Honey Scott
Finding out your boyfriend is a cheating loser is a real buzz kill. Finding out you’re actually the other woman, is devastating. Call it temporary insanity, but I decide the best way to get over the loser I’d dated for two years is to get under a biker with tattoos, dimples and a hard body he knows how to use.

He’s going to make everything better with numerous mind-blowing orgasms. But just for one night.

Except one faulty condom means my one-night stand isn’t so one-night after all.

Caleb Calley
After a night of insane sex, the beautiful blue-eyed brunette gave me the slip. And even with all the women on offer afterwards, I can’t get her off my mind. So when she turns up at the Kings of Mayhem MC compound I’m quick to give her a second night of amazing sex and crazy orgasms. But this time, I’m not ready to let her go.

There’s just one problem— she’s not interested.

But if she thinks she’s going to give me the slip again, then she’s got another thing coming. I know she is keeping a secret from me but I don’t care what it is. I want her and I’m going to make her mine.

My Review  4 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and The Author, for an honest review**

Although this book is part of a series this book can totally be read as a stand alone and you do not miss out on anything that has happened in book one.

Honey is pregnant after a one night stand a few nights after breaking up with her boyfriend, Caleb a member of the Kings of Ransom Motor Cycle Club is from the original family and is highly sort after, however he cannot get the one night stand woman out of his head.  When he sees her again all bets are off.

Caleb has see some awful things, but he is a man with character and would never lay a finger on a woman, when her finds out that Honey is pregnant, at first he is stunned, but he soon gets over that and is quite happy especially as he cannot seem to get enough of Honey and he treats her like a Queen as is very tolerant of her mood swings.

I must admit that at times i did get fed up of Honey and her constant push and pull towards Caleb and the rotten way she treated Caleb so that they were not hurt, but each time she hurt both of them.  Caleb has the patience of a saint with her.

I loved the group dynamics and you also get to meet Chance Caleb, who will be the focus in the next book in the series.  We also get drama when the mystery stalker is revealed along with other mysteries.

I really enjoyed this book and the constant turns that were taken to get to the happy ending.

REVIEW - An Accidental Date with a Billionaire by Diane Alberts

The Book
Release Date: 8 April 2018
Goodreads Link

Samantha Taylor turned her back on her wealthy family to focus on social work. Those who know her think she’s the heart of kindness. Those who know her really well know she’s in a never-ending battle to make up for the harm her family’s companies inflict on the world. Which is how she finds herself at a charity bachelor auction of all places.

But oops, she was supposed to bid on her bff’s brother as a favor and accidentally bid on the wrong guy. Sue her for not being able to tell one stick-in-the-mud CEO from another.

Backstage, she goes to tell him not to worry about having to go through with a date or anything, but the oafish billionaire cuts her off dismissively. Looks her up and down, hands her a card with his assistant’s contact details, and reminds her that sex is definitely off the table.

Oh, she’ll call the assistant all right and have her make sure he wears jeans and comfortable shoes and to pick her up at seven a.m. The only “hammering” this guy is going to be doing is at Habitat for Humanity.

Too bad he turns out to be nothing like she expected.

My Review  3 STARS
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing LLC, for an honest review**

I liked the pace of this story and i liked Taylor, however Samantha was not my kind of character.  Sam was too quick to judge people with money like Sam even if she pushed herself to do as much charity work and help others as possible.

Taylor is a man that has come from very humble origins and has built his way into a fortune and a very successful business, he is always kind and he always seems to be apologising to Sam and thinking that she is better than him.

Sam is at an auction for a friend in order to bid on her brother, however a mix up means she bids on the wrong man.  Considering how we find out how she gives her money to charity it is a wonder to how she has the money to pay for the bid.  Sam has definitely not moved on from her past and brings her baggage along with her into the beginning of the time with Taylor.  It is Taylor who bends and twists the most to keeps the relationship going along.

We get a good and optimistic ending with a HEA. with both characters growing and releasing some of their baggage.

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a Standalone, Romantic Comedy a la Paranormal...

COLEL(Book #5, The Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. Series).

WARNING:
This book contains foul language, gratuitous sex against a truck, outrageously rude immortal warriors in leather pants, snow, pigheaded gods, a sexually frustrated goddess, a very hot and hunky florist guy with a bad attitude and a big secret, Brutus bubble baths, a sneaky invisible unicorn, unrequited love, bees, bees, and more bees, and chocolates.

If simply dating the guy will kill him, how will she ever know for sure if he’s really the one?

Colel has a solution, but it’s drastic. Even for her. And what if he says no?

My Review  5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

It has been ages since we have had the pleasure of reading the wonderful wacky works of this series.  The author has brought her brilliant wit and comedy to yet another book and it does not disappoint.

Colel, Mistress of Bee's is a Goddess with a 70,000 year old problem, she is still a virgin and has finally found someone who has taken her fancy, however he does not seem pleased to see her.

We may not get to see much of the craziness that is Cimil in this instalment, however Colel manages to bring her own amount of craziness with her bees and Minky finally makes an appearance, we also get to see appearances from some of the other deities and characters associated with the previous characters in the books.

You will seriously not find another series like this out there and you really should take the chance at trying this author if you have not tried this series or the Accidentally series of which this is a spin off series from.

I cannot wait to read Brutus's story and really do hope that his is not the last book in the series.

REVIEW - Man Candy (After We Fall #1) by Melanie Harlow

The Book
Release Date: 20 June 2016
Goodreads link

He’s back.

Not just back in town, but living in the flat right beneath mine. And he looks good enough to eat, which is just one more reason to stay away from him.

But I can’t resist.

The sex is incredible (pretty sure we’ve shaken the house right off its foundation), but he can’t fool me—not this time. A degree in marketing and five years in advertising have taught me that “true love” is a fairy tale used to sell lipstick, diamonds, and perfume. It doesn’t exist.

He thinks I’m wrong, and he wants to prove it.

I think he’s crazy, so I dare him to try.

It might be the biggest mistake of my life.

My Review  4 STARS
This was that first book that i have read by this author and i really enjoyed it, however with such backlog of books to read i am not sure if i will have time to read the rest of the series.

Jamie has an unconventional mother and father and had her first crush Quinn laugh at her when she was a teenager and she said she wanted him the night of a party.  Ever since then she has scoffed at the idea of real love and that a marriage and kids.

When she comes face to face with Quinn ten years later however they both lay out some truths and Quinn bets her that he can get her to believe in real love and that he will show her.

Jamie has a good group of friends and her brother and his boyfriend help her when she needs it, however it is after being spooked that Quinn gives her some hard words that she really needs to hear.

Quinn is a lovely guy who knew what he wanted and went for it, staying within the rules and making Jamie ask for more as he proved himself to her, Wish i could have a man like Quinn in my life, he sounded awesome the whole way through the book.

It was a lovely read and i will have to make time in the future to read the rest of the series.

Holy sizzles!  Now that was a brilliant ending to the series, it even made me cry!  Only the best books make me cry!

In this epic ending the book starts where the second one left off and our heroine Wren has the strength of character in her she did not have before.  Now Wren believes in herself more and with the help of her 4 husbands she also has the strength that she did not have before.

Creedence, Dust, Luke and Kite all stand beside Wren and support each other in their family unit, especially after they finally commit to coming together as a unit to become stronger and for Wren to be stronger as they have a better connection.

We learn so much more in this book.  There is still betrayal, new alliances, new characters and forgiveness, but above all good wins out, even if there are still forces that need to be sorted out.

I SO enjoyed this series and was delighted to see it connected with Supernatural in Seattle series as i really loved the first book and am anticipating the release of the second book in that series.

I really do hope that Bella Jacobs carries on writing these absolutely brilliant and one of a kind stories.

REVIEW - Chasing Indigo by Ali Dean

The Book
Release Date: 31 March 2019
Goodreads Link

Ryan Harding. He’s running royalty. The guy I’ve been following online since I started this sport. Sure, I’ve got a crush on him, but so does nearly every other runner in the country. I’m an unknown in this world, it’s not like the prince of distance running is ever going to notice me, which is for the best. I’ve been down this road once before with the Mr. Perfect type, and I’m not doing it again.

Indigo Adams stood out the moment I saw her cross the finish line. She’s not only got a gorgeous stride and stellar kick, but possesses the tenacity and drive required to reach the top. She’s the perfect fit for our newly-formed team in Colorado, though her running potential isn’t the only thing that’s captured my attention. Indigo seems skeptical of our selection of her and even more skeptical of me and my intentions. What will it take for her to see she belongs here in Brockton, on this team… and with me?

(This is a spinoff from the Pepper Jones series but can be read as a standalone.)

My Review  4 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the first book that i have read by this author and the book description really pulled me in.

It was nice reading Ryan's point of view although the chapters in the beginning seem a little short to begin with and it does mostly seem like the Indigo show more than anything.

Indigo really struggled to let go of the way that Liam, her ex-boyfriend, screwed her up and therefore took a long time to warm up to trusting Ryan totally.  It was also nice to see her making her friends and moving on with her life.

Olivia was a good bad person and i am glad that everyone stood up for Indigo and they all stood behind her when needed and gave Indigo the strength of the group.

I really enjoyed this book, the story pulled me in from the beginning and i would really love some of the other characters to get their HEA.
