The Book
Release Date: 31 July 2014
Sent to the family ranch to overcome his addiction, Taylor Reese is angry and hurt. Feeling rejected by his father and brother, Taylor throws himself into ranch life to help him forget. But it isn’t long before it hits him hard how much his life has spiraled out of control, leaving him floundering and looking for a lifeline.
Libby Karlin is cautious, wary of Taylor’s presence. Her dark past makes her reluctant to let anyone near her family. But after Taylor strikes up a friendship with her son, Libby finds herself drawn to the sadness within him. His experiences are no secret to her, though she keeps her own buried until a knock on her door has her gasping for breath.
Could dealing with their pasts really give them a future?
My Opinion 3 STARS

This can be read as a stand-a-lone book, but is best read after the first.
Although I liked this book, there were certainly parts of it that didn't gel well with me and I found myself finding that I preferred the first book in the series.
We met Taylor in the first book, but we never really get to the issue of why he went into a downward spiral that eventually led him to using cocaine. When it came to suffering with the symptoms of withdrawal, these were largely glossed over.
I loved Josh, as an Uncle, he was brilliant and far more caring than Taylor's father seemed to be. He had the right amount of snark, parental guidance and bossiness that made him endearing.
Libby, although a strong character, we get to see how strong she really is when we find out what she has been through and continues through to the end. She may have been a little reluctant to deal with her feelings for Taylor, but her feelings do feel more real.
Overall a little too angsty for me and with the way the book ended, it is not clear if there will be a third book in the series.
