More (More 1) - T.M. Franklin

The Book
Release Date: 4 October 2012

Ava Michaels used to think she was special.

As a child, she fantasized about having magical powers . . . making things happen. But Ava grew up and eventually accepted the fact that her childish dreams were just that, and maybe a normal life wasn't so bad after all.

Now a young college student, Ava meets Caleb Foster, a brilliant and mysterious man who’s supposed to help her pass Physics, but in reality has another mission in mind. What he shows Ava challenges her view of the world, shaking it to its very core.

Because Caleb isn't quite what he seems. In fact, he's not entirely human, and he's not the only one.

Together, the duo faces a threat from an ancient race bound to protect humans, but only after protecting their own secrets—secrets they fear Ava may expose. Fighting to survive, Ava soon learns she's not actually normal . . . she's not even just special.

She's a little bit more.

My Opinion  3 STARS
**Provided by Netgalley and The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House for an honest review**

This book starts off with Ava having her recurring nightmare. She know she is being followed at college and runs over the bridge. Just as she gets to the door he is the waiting for her. He is large, broad and has one blue eye and one green eye.

Ava has never felt like she fits in, she won a scholarship to college and to stay there she has to keep a 4.0 average, however she is failing physics. Her professor suggests a tutor and this is where we meet Caleb for the first time.

Caleb is not human. He has been watching A a to see whether she could be half-breed or not but has not been able to get a definitive answer.

To others of the Race turn up one night whilst Ava is walking home late from work and she feels prickles of awareness that she is being followed. When she gets to the bridge a man is suddenly there. The man from her nightmares.

After a tussle, someone else arrives but Ava is dropped and hurts her head. When she wakes up in her dorm room everything is fuzzy. The next day she walks back to the bridge and her memories return after finding her pepper spray.

She finds she gets trickles a lot more and Caleb is also around more, they become more friendly to each other, however she starts to find Caleb acts a little odd, but she can't think of why or if she is going mad.

The man with odd eyes comes for her again more night whilst Caleb is there, and she ha fuzzy memories again. Then when she takes out the trash, the next thing she knows the man is on the ground and Caleb is there telling her they need to run.

Ava finds out about the Race from Caleb and that she was a suspected half-breed. He takes her to a safe place and a woman show her a little of her new talents and helps teach her.

The council send members to find them and they have to run again. When a van follows them Ava decides she has had enough of running and decides that she wants to turn herself in with or without Calebs help.

Caleb helps of course. He is starting to struggle with his feeling for Ava but a relationship with anyone other than full Race is prohibited.

They return to his home where a multitude of tests are completed, but then Ava is abducted by her oldest friend. He is also race and has plans for her with his cause.

Caleb and a team of others go to get her back where her powers come to her fully and she accidentally kills her attacker.

Wen the council say they want to detain her to to her being dangerous, she says no she is going back home. She and Caleb walk out and have their first kiss.

This was a good first book, the story whilst being a little repetitive at the bringing swiftly moved on with mystery, but I had an idea at the ending and wasn't disappointed.
