Release Date: 24 December 2013
The tenth book in the bestselling and “outstanding” (Romantic Times) Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series finally reveals for the first time the origins of Gin Blanco’s career as the deadliest of assassins.
For the first time, the origins of Gin Blanco’s career as the deadly assassin “the Spider” are revealed in full. In a story that pre-dates the other nine books in the series, Gin Blanco goes through her paces to become the most feared assassin in the Ashland.
My Opinion 3.5 STARS
**ARC Provided by Netgalley and Threshold Pocket Books for an honest review**
This is a story where Gin is reminiscing about the past and a job that defined her career as The Spider.
She receives a box of dark blue roses with pale stems that propels her into her past and into telling Owen a story about when she was twenty and learnt some very strong lessons that made her who she is today.
We hear how she meets, Bria's adopted parents and sees Bria as a child, meets Owen on a dark late night and even the elusive M.M Monroe is mentioned. We also see Gin have her heart wrapped out as she realises that not everything is as it seems.
Some of Fletchers lessons really hit home and we see Gin use less of her magic and more of her human skills as she has to learn those more if she is to survive.
Although I feel sorry for Gin, I would have preferred a book focusing more on the present and future rather than the past although it is helpful in someways.
All told however its not a bad book, but there are better books in the series.
