The Darkest Craving (Lords of the Underworld 10) - Gena Showalter

The Book
Release Date: 30 July 2013

New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter is back with a breathtaking Lords of the Underworld tale about a warrior trapped by darkness and the woman determined to save him

Having endured weeks of torture in the bowels of hell, Kane wants nothing to do with his beautiful rescuer, Josephina Aisling. The half-Fae female threatens to awaken the demon of Disaster inside him—a beast he’s determined to kill, no matter the price.

Josephina is hunted by a brutal enemy—her royal family—and Kane is her only source of protection. He’s also the only male to ever set her aflame, and even he succumbs to the heat. But as they navigate the treacherous world of the Fae, they are forced to make a choice: live apart…or die together.

My Opinion  3 STARS
This is Kane`s story, and it is only when I start reading it do I notice that we do not really know much about him. Kane has always been on the guidelines if the story just like he is with his friends.

There is also a difference between Kane and his friends, Kane absolutely despises his demon disaster, there is no mutual like or use and Kane would prefer to die than house him any longer.

After a stint in he'll when he was tortured by minions and then some of the riders of the apocalypse, Kane is rescued by a Far girl called Josephina. A girl that he calls many nicknames including Tink and Tinker Bell, but that disaster hates and eventually wants to kill.

When he finally wakes up four days later he finds himself in a hotel room with the girl nearly physically healed. This is where he finds out that he agreed to help kill her if she rescued him, but he can`t remember that.

This is where his friends find him and after a little scuffle the girl runs off upset with him. He is perplexed to find that he wants her, yet finds his demon doesn't. She calms the thoughts going through his head that the demon and physical touch remind him of the horrors he suffered in he'll.

After a brief stint at the new home, Kane goes out to look for he and William the ever Randy decides to go along.

Tink is on the run from her family after another punishment dealt to her instead of her sister. She has a gift of being able to absorb the powers and energy from others, but is unable to kill herself. She is also able to project herself into others minds, a power she got from her mother before she died.

Her family and the people around her do not treat her well, her father is the King however she stars in her own Cinderella story as she is treated like a slave as she is o my half Fae. Her mother had so little Fae blood that she was thought of as human.

Kane is captured and taken to Séduire, the realm of the Far where he is treated like a celebrity. He very quickly finds himself engaged to the other royal daughter in order to save Tink.

Kane is appalled at the way the Far treat Tink and makes it his mission to change that. Because of his status he gets away with a lot more than any other would. William and his children also turn up which annoys him and turns out to be a blessing and a curse.

There is not much mention of the other lords as the majority of the book is focused on the Séduire realm. We also see snippets from Torin and also of Cameo and the way things are developing for them.

The ending is a bit OMG, but in a good way. Both get a sense of happy ever after, just maybe not in the sense they were expecting. The book was action packed but felt very different from the others, but definitely needs to be read to keep up in the story.

A good read in the over-all saga.
